2 nights at Sunrise by the Pond

Other’s reviews of the stay are spot on! Spacious tent, we added an additional queen size raised camp bed with ease. Shower is hot and close to site and port-a-john clean and closer to the site. There’s a gas station with a convenience market less than a mile from the site for last minute supplies. We took the kayaks out for an afternoon trip around the pond and got to visit a few farm animals. There are trails to hike right from the camp site. Malinda and Kevin were responsive to our request and really enjoyed getting to meet them. Hope to stay here again in the future!

Ian was a great host -- super friendly, flexible, responsive, and happy to show me his birds! Stargazer was really cute and well-equipped, and the internet was zippy! Two great beaches nearby. Dog friendly. I would come back in a heartbeat, and highly recommend!

Intimate little setting. I ended up having to camp by myself, however, David kept me informed on the wildlife (resident bear) and that my visitors would most likely be 4 legged friendly dogs. They were good company. I was glad to hike and wade around with them.im definitely going to re- visit!

Ian was very responsive and attentive to our big crew that stayed at the Wisteria Treehouse. His craftsmanship was amazing on the tree house and he made amenities available such as a rustic shower and porta potty to make your stay more comfortable. Ian was a friendly and helpful host!

This was our second time there and we will probably be back for a third. My nieces love feeding and petting all the birds, along with the two dogs, and neighbor’s cat as well. The little cabin has everything you need to cook, sleep, shower, and feel relaxed after a day at the water. You feel like you’re camping but will sleep better. The beaches nearby are uncrowded and clean. Ian’s bundle of wood is plenty for a fire and his SUP was fun to rent as well.

Staying at Ian’s was great. The treehouse part of the property is separated by a hedge of trees and felt private. We enjoyed the compromise of being able to watch tv while camping. I especially liked having my coffee on the little deck and cooking dinner one night in the fire pit.

We stayed in Moonshine, a little cabin. It was private, small and quaint. Beautiful remote setting on cute farm with animals who could be characters in a storybook. Bed was comfortable and sheets were soft. Highly recommend, if you enjoy this kind of experience!

This was such a lovely place to stay after spending the day in the Shenandoah! We felt immersed in nature, able to listen to the trees and birds, but also felt so cozy in the little cabin. We also got to meet the dogs and goats and help feed the farm birds which was very fun :)

We had a fantastic stay in the full moon dome! My friend and I had a girls getaway with my dog and this was the perfect spot. Beautiful location and well decorated dome. It was so peaceful in the rain and magical to wake up to the sun and the cows the next day. We would definitely return and highly recommend a stay at the farm! (Bonus for the delicious homemade muffins and scones for breakfast)

The host was super friendly, respectful, and a life saver because although there is a guest guide with all the nearby stores, he lent us propane when we went to make dinner and realized I got the wrong one! The property was clean, well maintained, and my daughter loved saying hi to the chickens and playing with the collies (who are super calm and friendly!). We loved everything about this place and it was perfect for us. This was a last minute reservation incase of bad weather but we’re already planning on another trip back.

This place is an excellent get away from the city. The tent is comfortable. There are kayaks and canoes for exploring the pond. This place is so peaceful. If fresh air and quite are what you need this place is excellent. Kevin is very friendly and responsive. He made sure we were well supplied with firewood and fresh water. There is a portapotty a short walk from the tent and it is kept very clean. Exploring the farm and meeting the animals was very fun. Our dog had a fun time being off leash and exploring around our little camp.

1 night at Watercress Inn at Landon Farm

The site surrounding the cabin was beautiful. Although we did not end up using it, the fire pit with included cookware looked extremely useful, as well as the bear proof cooler. We were able to stay warm with the provided blankets, and had an amazing time relaxing in the woods. The host is extremely friendly. I would 100% recommend.

1 night at Reckless Raven Farm

We had an amazing time camping in the bell tent. Lacie and Doug were super kind and went above and beyond to make us comfortable, Lacie thought of all the little creature comforts we could need and even supplied us with a little grill and dishes etc. The bed was super comfy, so much that we overslept the next morning :) My daughter enjoyed all animals who were all extremely friendly and feeding the fish in the pond by the tent. We have stayed at quite a few hip camps and this is definitely one of our favorites! Beautiful property, people, animals and everything you need for a glamping experience ❤️

2 nights at Blue Bird with Heat/AC!!

It's a beautiful piece of land that was perfectly calm and quiet for my mini retreat (2 days). There was an odd cold front that moved through and Scott had a small heater already in the bus when I arrived. That plus the 3 blankets kept me cozy. I was glad to have brought bedroom slippers! Scott provided 4 small bottles of water for drinking (+5 gallons for washing) but I was happy I'd brought a gallon of drinking water because I drank it all!

The Royal View campsite was a dream! The glamping-style tent was spacious and very clean. It had pockets for airflow but also kept out some light rain we got in the morning. The campsite was set up with a hammock, a fire pit with 2 chairs, and a picnic table - everything you need to make your visit comfortable! We were right on the river, making it easy to launch off my SUP and go paddling or fishing. There are other campsites right next to each other, about 100 feet apart, but our neighbors were respectful - just keep that in mind if you’re looking for something more private. Only downside was some property neighbors up the river were blasting music until midnight enough that we could hear them but nothing too terrible. Highly recommend this spot! I appreciate Sean’s responsiveness.

Weekend Trip to Sleigh Hill Farm

John’s “glamping by the lake” site features a comfortable and sturdy tent on a small peninsula. We loved the sense of being almost surrounded by the water and greenery. My dogs thought the geese and fish were fascinating. The wine next door was a pleasant add-on that helped our fire-pit cooked food go down nicely.

Little Rustic Cabin Near Onancock

If you are looking for a unique experience and appreciate history, architecture, and exquisite design, you just found your spot. First of all, the location. The cabin is located on a rural road that is a five minute drive to downtown Onancock, which offers a coffee shop, several restaurants, bakery, shops, Saturday farmers’ market, and the harbor. Chincoteague and the famous ponies are 35 minutes north, and bougie Cape Charles is 40 minutes south. When you open the door to this 300’ gem, you will step back in time to a simpler way of life. This century-old building was moved to the site and has been brought back to life, preserving the original character, while adding the creature comforts we love of today. Soaring 12 foot ceilings provide a spacious air, and the original wood interior offer charm and patina that simply cannot be manufactured. In the past, it was a barber shop and then a poker joint. This place is a design nerd’s dream, a clever combination of old, new, and vintage pieces, handmade pottery and art, with close attention paid to each chosen piece. Lace curtains and blackout blinds cover all your light preferences for peaceful sleeping. The queen bed is a high end hybrid mattress with traditional coil base and memory foam top. A giant 55” TV is directly across from the bed for cozy streaming. The modern bathroom has a vintage wall sink found on site, and terrific water pressure from a rain shower head with instant, never ending Rinnai hot water. The kitchen has an ample antique sideboard as your sink, apartment size refrigerator, induction hot plate, coffee, microwave, and combo convection toaster oven/air fryer. The marble table seats two. A comfortable down-filled loveseat adds another lounge option. You will enjoy all the artistic touches around the room. Did I mention the front porch??? It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon wine, and evening stargazing from rocking chairs with your boo. A pretty view of a wide field is across the street and will sooth your weary soul. What’s not to love about that?

The Guinea Farm, Field, and Forest

The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agrotourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the windernes and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle pennensula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

As the source of the Falls, Sweet Springs Creek, serves as a long, unique home for trout, calcified travertine rock, chalybeate water, and ancient beaver dams (as well as active ones!). Beaverdam Falls is a rare place for the lack of stone and the centuries of beavers who have left their trace in & on our creek—and swamp, the Stick Marsh, which has an active beaver dam. Be careful! They do bite!

Riverside Campground at Seneca

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it. DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking. Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here. Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away. This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet. About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table. We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay. The forest has reclaimed much of the original Blake Farm land. Visit over 4 acres of available land, from the pastures, to the wooded creek, or the very back edge of the farm abutting deep woods. Spend relaxing time petting the Nigerian Dwarf goats, Rhode Island Red chickens, and the super-friendly livestock guard dogs (Thomasina, Bucky, and Sarge). We are also located adjacent to Agape Farms, with its horses, ducks, and chickens. All this in horse country just minutes from I-95 and an hour from Washington, DC or Richmond, VA.

Welcome to RRF! We are a small ranchette that specializes in sheep, horses, and chickens. Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our small pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) Exceptions can be made in an emergency stay. THINGS TO DO IN TOWN: Bike or hike the Tobacco Trail and see the railroad park. Local farmers market and livestock sales- down town. The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. This experience may not be available due to weather or other factors, be sure to talk to us prior to your visit to determine availability and requirements. Your off leash pets must be ok with chickens. We do have an overly excited friendly blue Heeler that roams our farm.
