It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private.
As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping.
Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

A grassy meadow nestled between a forested ridge the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, an open access walking and bike path. The Rosendale Rail Trail Cafe is just across the meadow from you and Rosendale trestle bridge is a short bike or walk away.
We do have hot water showers and heated bathrooms in the Owlwood. Use our hand drawn map to find your way around the farm.
Please drive extremely slowly while on the farm road, there and kids and critters everywhere and your car will thank you! Also, we encourage everyone to drive as little as possible while on the farm, why drive when you can walk and enjoy the land.
If you want to sleep in a car or rv make sure to contact us so we can let you know where to car camp. No cars are allowed in Red Fox Meadow. Also, if the meadow seems too wet to camp give us a shout, there are other areas to camp that are dryer in the wet moments, just not as private.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. Visit their website for list of proper gear and rules. We do rent some of the equipment needed.

Lake Taghkanic is a great place for both summer and winter stays, with plenty of tent campsites as well as cabins and cottages, and a variety of activities to do year round. For winter folks, there's cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails, as well as ice skating and ice fishing areas, and plenty of fire pits to warm those chilly bones. For summer lovin', there are two beaches, so if someone kicks sand in your potato salad (accidentally, of course), you can just go to another beach and pretend like it never happened. The only sleeping quarters that are on the water are some of the cottages in the West End Cottage Area, so if you're planning on playing Beach Party Bingo, plan accordingly or be willing to walk a bit from your tent or cabin.

The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house.
When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here.
We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site.
We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same.
It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property.
We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped.
Our property has provided many happy gatherings and events and we love to share it with others.

Various seasons will offer you an opportunity to pick your own breakfast in our maturing establishment. You can enjoy exploring, and examining our 7 year permacultuire food forest with chestnut seedlings already tall enough to climb , 10-foot hazels bearing buckets of nuts and a different selection of raspberries, blackberries, gooseberry, currents, golden berries, service berries and Mulberries. Enjoy a stroll through the meadow trail to breath in morning views and evening fireflies and stars. This camp area is very private but household amenities are not far away if desired. This site is much more private than Mickelberry Forest Garden Site and the beautiful mountain view is only a small step away. One mile away we offer nearby blue mark trails, mountain biking, lake and outdoor activities are at your fingertips and your hosts will be happy to provide any assistance needed to find or enjoy these opportunities. The Creamery (Ferris Acres) is one of the best farm ice cream shops in the East. We can provide breakfast upon request from our free range chickens on our kiwi lined deck with beautiful mountain views. Come and enjoy the croak of the bullfrog and the sound of the crickets. Welcome to Hickory Hollow!
Located 7 minutes from the Town of Catskill, 25 minutes from Hudson, and just under the Catskill Mountains, Hickory Hollow is the perfect campsite to take full advantage of the Upper Hudson Valley.
There are two campsites you can chose from, both in clearings that make for great star gazing. Camp 1 is deeper into the forest taking about two minutes to walk to from the parking area. Camp site 2 is only a one minute walk but much closer to the farm. If you are coming with a dog, I would recommend staying at Camp site 1, as the farms dogs are very vocal when there are new friends in the area. Each campsite comes with a fire pit, a grate for cooking, and a picnic table.
There is parking provided and a composting outhouse. You will need to bring your own firewood, though there is plenty of available kindling.
The property is 9 acres and I encourage guests to hike down to the stream and take a walk if they feel comfortable. If not there are so many hiking/swimming options nearby and I am happy to point you in the right direction.
This property has a been a life long dream of mine, and is (in my opinion) the most beautiful place on earth. That being said there is a still a lot of work that I am doing since this is a very new endeavor. So please watch yourself if you do decide to stay. The Hollow is beautiful but also very steep, so please be careful while you walk the woods. Pets are welcome, but again, be safe. There is an abundance of wildlife in the Hollow (see if you can spot the porcupine) but that can be very distracting for dogs, so be cautious when letting them off lead.

For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

We had a great stay at James’ site! He was there to greet us and show us around upon arrival. The outhouse was convenient and clean. Nice little trails around the property and lots of birds which my birding husband loved. James provided water for us to use to wash dishes which was convenient. The site isn’t that far from the road but it was quiet most of the time and there is a hill that blocks the view of the road, so you still feel like you’re tucked away in the woods. The site felt private and peaceful and you’re surrounded by woods. Overall we had a great time!

Great location, right on the Wallkill Valley rail trail. 12 mile bike ride in to Kingston which is also a great town to visit. Camp site is also steps from the Rail Trail Cafe which, I hear has amazing food, sometimes live music, arts & community events, etc. it happened to be closed for the season at the time of my trip.

Set up our tent for a night and loved every second! The land is peaceful and removed from any busy roads, some small pieces garbage at the sight so please pick up after yourself, but it was amazing. All the animals are super friendly and cute! Host was helpful and answered all our questions. Such a great stay!

On our arrival, we were greeted by a cute pup, cat, two adorable shaggy cows, chickens, turkeys, sheep, and goats. The turkeys chortled in unison on our arrival like trumpeters. I was immediately smitten with the whole scene! The lake is serene, with breathtaking views within a short walking distance from the camp sites. The owner was friendly and responsive. It was the best camping trip we've had!

Staying at Beaverwood Farm was so much fun and was a great weekend getaway. The farm is very spacious, and even with multiple groups there, we had our own section to set up. There are great views of the lake from the campsite. All of the animals are really friendly, expect them to be around the camp. The hosts were great, they had a custom map of both the farm and the nearby area with food and hiking recommendations. Recommend staying here!

This is a wonderful and welcoming camping spot. One of the biggest highlights was meeting a huge potbelly pig and a longhorn that stopped by to say hello—such a unique and memorable experience!
The owners were incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home. The location offers beautiful views of Swan Lake, which added to the charm of the stay.
Best of all was the tranquility—peaceful, relaxing, and the perfect escape from the everyday rush. A truly special place for anyone looking to enjoy nature and unwind.

I had the best time camping on Molly’s land with my 1-year old puppy! I was looking for a close, beautiful, dog-friendly site to teach her how to camp and this checked all the boxes. Plus Molly and her family are all so kind and lovely. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed ourselves.

The apple grove site was so cute and cozy. Great setup and really appreciated the layout of the paths, communal amenities, etc. The trek to the falls definitely required some real skill and isn’t something I’d recommend except to seasoned hikers with COMPLETELY waterproof boots (and maybe waterproof pants too, the river was knee deep at some points). Definitely not a “relaxing” nature walk but well worth it for the falls and a great exercise.
A highlight was definitely Leona the Calico who was so friendly and sweet and kept coming back to us all weekend. We loved her company and she was a great little hostess to top off our experience. ❤️

We will definitely return to Wrights’s Farm! Every tent site had a gorgeous view and felt very private. The bathroom was clean and having the farm stand a short walk away (for breakfast and snacks) was a great perk!

Stayed at site #4 to test out my rig before heading cross country.
Exactly what I was looking for!
Had the pleasure of catching Eric and his wife as they headed into the multi use area, seemingly for an evening stroll. They were extremely welcoming.
Waking up, to my surprise, someone throughout the night had pulled a van rig into site 2! Didn’t hear a thing the spacing was perfect. Didnt feel on top of each other whatsoever.

20 ft campervan
We cannot rave enough about the beautiful Hilltop site. The views were incredible of both the surrounding mountains and the orchards. It is very quiet. And there was a restroom close by. We arrived on Sunday in time to enjoy the brewery and the live music. I highly recommend arriving in time to do that as well. Of course, we had cider donuts in the morning. The site would be perfect for a couple and also wonderful for children as there are many places to run and play. We have a truck camper and had plenty of room at the site. Note that you will need to park in the grass. The Hilltop site also has a beautiful terrace that is used for special events and it adds real charm to this site. And remember to buy wood at the farm store because they have a large fire pit at the site. The Wright family is so creative and hard-working. We are glad to support their efforts to keep this a working farm. . And we’re grateful that they offer camping among the apple trees.
