We had such a perfect weekend staying on James's land, visiting a nearby creek and taking a couple of James's suggestions for Greens Lake and ice cream by the water on Bridge St, which were great. The set up was wonderful with plenty of flat space for our tent, and the fire pit and picnic table within a beautiful wooded area of large trees. The sounds of crickets, frogs, cicadas, and owls was so amazing. The outhouse was clean and well taken care of. James was really welcoming and nice, and funny too! We didn't chat for too long but we would have enjoyed more conversation with him, especially to learn more about the trees and mushrooms on the property. Next time! Highly recommend this lovely spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed James' Hipcamp site. Everything was clean, clear and quiet; even the outhouse was spotless. Lots of help if needed, including places to visit and other area resources. We definitely recommend it as a great private outpost for exploring the area.

We had such a great stay at James’s campsite! The location was quiet, relaxing, and had everything we needed for a comfortable night outdoors. James was welcoming when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We’d happily stay here again if we’re back in the area. Thanks again, James!
This was our second stay on James's land, and we had another great experience. The campsite was peaceful and surrounded by trees. James is a great host—responsive, helpful, and he provided clear directions. We'd happily stay here again!

No problem driving up to the site with a 2WD sedan. James made sure to pave a spot so I could back in with no issues. He had the wood I purchased at the site next to the fire pit and the jug for dishes was very helpful.
James greeted me at the site, provided a sheet with links to different hikes and things to do in the area, then walked me around the camp. Bert friendly and professional, including sending a message in the morning to make sure everything went well the night before.
Site was secluded, well maintained, and the sound of the wildlife at night was everything I was hoping for. Site has decent cell reception and a Walmart is less than 10 minutes away in case you forget anything. Will be back again.
We had a lovely time camping at site 1. James was a gracious host, and he's done so much to make the area a nice place for camping. While the listing says there isn't water, James surprised us with a 5 gallon jug of non-potable water for us to use. The offer of dropping off firewood was a nice touch. We would definitely be back - it was so quiet, serene, and restorative. :)

Loved camping here! Our campsite was quite peaceful and well prepared. James greeted us as we arrived and was very responsive to messages. We enjoyed a fire in the evening and saw a family of turkeys in the morning. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stay again. Thanks, James!

James’s campsite was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. He was very kind, brought us firewood and water for washing up. He even sent a text to make sure we were ok in a little storm. Would love to come back again.
This was a last minute booking in between Airbnbs. Jim was very responsive and communicative. Very quiet and private. The area was all grass with level parking for our rig. Our dogs loved all the open space and grass to run around in. We had a fire and enjoyed some star gazing. Perfect proximity to Hudson and very close to incredible hiking trails in the Catskills. Jim’s place had the cleanest outhouse we’ve ever used. He came by in the morning, and we had an opportunity to chat. We would definitely come back again. Great host!

Lovely little camping spot! Great cooking setup with a picnic table and a spot for a BYO cooking stove. A decent amount of noise from the neighboring roads but nothing that kept us awake at odd hours.

We stayed for one night and it was perfect! There was a music festival nearby so James land was our home-base for the evening. Outhouse was clean. Site was beautiful. James was great! Easy peasy.

Far exceeded our expectations! Incredibly isolated from the house or other campers and loved hearing the frogs at night. Thank you James for showing us around the site and for your prompt communication. We'll definitely be back
We loved camping on Jim’s land! Felt secluded, peaceful and quiet. This site is set back from the road, there’s a clean outhouse, and trails Jim has built out and maintained. A beautiful spot in the Catskills near Palenville, Catskill, Saugerties and lots of great hikes (Huckleberry Point + Plattekill Falls were awesome). Story Farms right down the road. We showed our friends from abroad their first “classic American camping experience” and Jim’s property did not disappoint. Kid friendly, as well — our toddler had lots of space to roam and play. We will definitely be back!
We spent a lovely evening at this campsite. It’s beautifully maintained and Jim is awesome. Would totally recommend.

My son and I loved staying at Jim’s place! He met us on arrival (we were late- my fault- sorry Jim😬) and he showed us around. We walked down a few trails- it’s perfectly forested- not too dense, there’s still a breeze- even when it was hot and humid out. Our site had the perfect blend of wooded area and natural-feeling clearing- we could throw a ball, run around, and it still felt secluded. Jim offered to take us foraging for mushrooms which I would have LOVED, but my son wanted to stay at the camp site and do the stuff a kid does when camping😈.
We had a truly incredible experience. Thank you Jim so much for being such a gracious host! Can’t wait to come back with the whole family!
Second visit to this site. Highly recommended if you have a 4x4 or want to hike in. Since our last visit the site has been made larger and a picnic table inserted!!! Always a great stay and James is a great host!!

We had a fantastic evening on James’ land. The directions were clear and our arrival time flexible. James met us on onsite to explain the lay of things as well as show us to the outhouse. He provided a good amount of kindling and firewood, with plenty more accessible all around. A large container of non-potable water was also provided. While not deep in the woods, the site felt secluded. Thanks James!
I had a very nice time on Jim’s land. The site was easy to find, and no issue for my non 4 wheel drive car. Jim met me at the site and showed me around and even brought some water I could use for washing up.

We had a great stay at James’ site! He was there to greet us and show us around upon arrival. The outhouse was convenient and clean. Nice little trails around the property and lots of birds which my birding husband loved. James provided water for us to use to wash dishes which was convenient. The site isn’t that far from the road but it was quiet most of the time and there is a hill that blocks the view of the road, so you still feel like you’re tucked away in the woods. The site felt private and peaceful and you’re surrounded by woods. Overall we had a great time!

Jim’s place was perfect! Very quiet and surrounded by nature. Even a super clean outhouse and water supplied. There was fire for the fire pit but it was pretty windy so we skipped a fire. Next time! Great hiking and things to do close by. Highly recommend checking it out

I really enjoyed my stay in Catskill. The location is perfect for a quiet stay and James is a wonderful host providing fresh water and firewood for the campfire. As well as suggestions for attractions in the area. I woke up the 2nd morning to two deer grazing past my van window.
I highly recommend this Hipcamp for anyone looking for peace and quiet. I plan to stay here again in the future.
