Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs is a lounge/studio area. Note that the bedroom is accesses via a ladder type staircase. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit. If you're allergic, this isn't a good option for you.

The owners have two small dogs who are occasionally off-leash. Looking to explore off-site? Ithaca: Cascadilla Meadow is located just 5 minutes from Cornell University and 10 minutes from all downtown Ithaca has to offer. Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music. Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west! Biking: The roads of the Ellis Hollow area are popular with cyclists, while nearby Yellow Barn Forest, Hammond Hill and Shindagin Hollow are popular spots for mountain biking.  Full disclosure: Cascadilla Meadow’s RV parking is close to a moderately used local road. Tall power lines cut across this lot. We are also located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station. We feel the benefits of solitary parking and the natural beauty of this area outweigh the small downsides of this location.

The biodiversity is vibrant, and the birding is very good. 12 minute drive from Ithaca, 8 minutes to the center of Trumansburg, 7 minute drive from Grassroots, + supermarket, pharmacy etc, 6 minutes to the lower entrance of Taughannock Falls State Park Fire pit, grate, and firewood provided. No shower available, but the creek is deep enough to dunk in. No RV hookup available. Composting toilet nearby. No buckets needed. Campsite is about 400 yards from the road; car access to within 150 feet. The bugs aren't bad at all, because there's no standing water around, but bring bug spray if they like you. If you're looking for a place for excessive or underage drug/alcohol consumption, we're not here to narc you, but please find a different campsite. There are many marked walking trails around our land to enjoy. There is access to well water. Dry cut Firewood is available for $7 a bundle at the property or you can add extras with booking for $7.70 per bundle.  Portable toilet outside & outdoor hot water shower. It is very quiet here. We are close to Treman, Buttermilk And Taughannock State Parks which all have swimming. Watkins Glen State Park and racetrack is half an hour away. 150 breathtakingly magnificent waterfalls in this area. Great hiking. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. We are between two finger lakes, Cayuga and Seneca, there are 60 wineries and breweries around the lakes. Woman’s Rights National Museum in Seneca Falls, Corning Museum of Glass is fabulous. Ithaca has theatres, many museums & lots for kids to do. Upon entering into the site you'll find yourself in a calming plot of mature pine, oak, and cherry trees where a variety of species of songbirds and a family of hawks have found a home. Parking on the property is a very short accessible walk from the tent site. There is a fire pit at the site and guests may access our personal kitchen garden for greens and veggies. A private bathroom and shower with free laundry (yes, I said free laundry!) and drinking water is available for use by guests in the main house. Wheelchair users will need a ramp in order to access the main house; we don't have one at this time, unfortunately.Our site is a great location to serve as an affordable hub for experiencing all that Cayuga and Seneca Lakes have to offer. In addition to being surrounded by wine country, we're located in what's known as the Emerald Necklace: an arc of more than 50,000 acres of conserved land abound with ways to spend time in nature. We are just a 5 minute drive or 20 minute bike ride from the small town of Trumansburg, home to the Tompkins County Fairgrounds (where Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival is held) and some of the best local waterfall swimming holes, to which we can give you detailed directions. Taughannock Falls State Park, Finger Lakes National Forest, and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail are all within a short drive or bike ride from the site. A 20 minute drive east will bring you to downtown Ithaca, where you can visit the renowned Ithaca Farmer's Market, Cornell University, Six Mile Creek, and plenty of bars and restaurants. Ithaca is also home to series of serene swimming holes at the base of waterfalls where locals and visitors relax during the summer. If you choose to go west you'll end up in Watkins Glen where you can check out the 200-foot cliffs and 19 waterfalls of the dreamlike landscape at Watkins Glen State Park, known as one of the best state parks in the U.S.We are both very experienced backpackers, cyclists, and bikepackers. Kimberly is a bike organizer and routemaker who runs Radical Adventure Riders Finger Lakes, a community for BIPOC and FTWN-B (femme, trans*, women, non-binary) bikepackers. She's happy to provide guidance on road, gravel, and mountain biking in the area and share her library of local bike routes. We have a work stand and tools available to fix any small issue you might have on your bike as well. Enjoy private fancy camping in this light-filled, fully furnished cabin on a platform overlooking a pond, pastures, and the valley beyond. Situated on a working farm just 15 min. southeast of Ithaca, NY, this is perfect for a family or romantic get-away. Unplug, relax, and visit the local trails, wineries, and waterfalls, or just hang out and enjoy the view! We only have the one cabin, so you will have the entire space to yourselves, including the hot water showers, flush toilets, and outdoor kitchen at the nearby bath house. Luxury camping has a greater level of comfort and convenience, but it is still camping. This means the camp area can be affected by extreme weather, insects, heat, and noises in the area (dogs barking, neighbors mowing lawns, etc.) We work hard to ensure the most pleasant stay possible. There are mosquito screens on all windows (and under the cabin decking!), but insects can still find ways to creep in. Rainstorms can be quite loud on the metal roof of the cabin. The bath house is a short walk away down a gravel path, which may feel longer in inclement weather. Keep this in mind when booking as we don't refund for insect issues or undesirable weather conditions during your stay. We provide all linens and towels. You will have private access to a rustic outdoor kitchen in the bath house, a 10-second walk from the tent cabin. The kitchen is stocked with a small fridge, 2-burner stove, dishes and flatware, cutting board and knives, olive oil and salt. We also supply a charcoal grill, charcoal, and a lighter. We provide fresh-ground organic coffee and sugar, a French press, and a drip coffee pot. We also provide a fire ring, kindling, and firewood you can use to have a campfire during your stay. A wide variety of staples (including beverages (24 beers on tap!), sandwiches, and breakfast options) is available at Brookton's Market 2 miles down the road. Other things to note There is no Wifi at the cabin or bath house, and cell service is very spotty and somewhat dependent on your carrier. While there is electric service at the kitchen/bath house for charging phones and other devices, the cabin has no electricity. We provide some basic ambient lights and portable solar lanterns, but you may want to bring headlamps. The parking area is about 50-60 yards from the tent. There is a gravel path to walk on.

There is a fire pit at the site and guests may access our personal kitchen garden for greens and veggies. A private bathroom and shower with free laundry (yes, I said free laundry!) and drinking water is available for use by guests in the main house. Wheelchair users will need a ramp in order to access the main house; we don't have one at this time, unfortunately.Our site is a great location to serve as an affordable hub for experiencing all that Cayuga and Seneca Lakes have to offer. Taughannock Falls State Park, Finger Lakes National Forest, and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail are all within a short drive or bike ride from the site. A 20 minute drive east will bring you to downtown Ithaca, where you can visit the renowned Ithaca Farmer's Market, Cornell University, Six Mile Creek, and plenty of bars and restaurants. Ithaca is also home to series of serene swimming holes at the base of waterfalls where locals and visitors relax during the summer. If you choose to go west you'll end up in Watkins Glen where you can check out the 200-foot cliffs and 19 waterfalls of the dreamlike landscape at Watkins Glen State Park, known as one of the best state parks in the U.S.We are both very experienced backpackers, cyclists, and bikepackers. Kimberly is a bike organizer and routemaker who runs Radical Adventure Riders Finger Lakes, a community for BIPOC and FTWN-B (femme, trans*, women, non-binary) bikepackers. She's happy to provide guidance on road, gravel, and mountain biking in the area and share her library of local bike routes. We have a work stand and tools available to fix any small issue you might have on your bike as well. We can also tell you about the hiking, backpacking and cross country skiing in the local area, much of which can be accessed by a 10 minute drive to Finger Lakes National Forest.We ask that those who stay on their property please respect the space and the land. Enjoy private fancy camping in this light-filled, fully furnished cabin on a platform overlooking a pond, pastures, and the valley beyond. Situated on a working farm just 15 min. southeast of Ithaca, NY, this is perfect for a family or romantic get-away. Unplug, relax, and visit the local trails, wineries, and waterfalls, or just hang out and enjoy the view! We only have the one cabin, so you will have the entire space to yourselves, including the hot water showers, flush toilets, and outdoor kitchen at the nearby bath house. Luxury camping has a greater level of comfort and convenience, but it is still camping. This means the camp area can be affected by extreme weather, insects, heat, and noises in the area (dogs barking, neighbors mowing lawns, etc.) We work hard to ensure the most pleasant stay possible. There are mosquito screens on all windows (and under the cabin decking!), but insects can still find ways to creep in. Rainstorms can be quite loud on the metal roof of the cabin. The bath house is a short walk away down a gravel path, which may feel longer in inclement weather. Keep this in mind when booking as we don't refund for insect issues or undesirable weather conditions during your stay. We provide all linens and towels. You will have private access to a rustic outdoor kitchen in the bath house, a 10-second walk from the tent cabin. The kitchen is stocked with a small fridge, 2-burner stove, dishes and flatware, cutting board and knives, olive oil and salt. We also supply a charcoal grill, charcoal, and a lighter. We provide fresh-ground organic coffee and sugar, a French press, and a drip coffee pot. We also provide a fire ring, kindling, and firewood you can use to have a campfire during your stay. A wide variety of staples (including beverages (24 beers on tap!), sandwiches, and breakfast options) is available at Brookton's Market 2 miles down the road. Other things to note There is no Wifi at the cabin or bath house, and cell service is very spotty and somewhat dependent on your carrier. While there is electric service at the kitchen/bath house for charging phones and other devices, the cabin has no electricity. We provide some basic ambient lights and portable solar lanterns, but you may want to bring headlamps. The parking area is about 50-60 yards from the tent. There is a gravel path to walk on.

We absolutely loved staying here! We are full-time trailer-towers and have a sweet older pup. Although we booked stays at Treman as with previous years, this time required four moves in two weeks, so I looked for alternatives. Summer Dream popped up only 15 minutes from my Dad's house near the Commons. PERFECT! Tina is a lovely host - from the first conversation to our goodbyes, she made sure we were comfortable and then some. The area where our trailer sat was level, drop and go. You do need to be right next to her trailer though, as the hookups are in an enclosed box behind her trailer. The land was treed and mowed, with a cute picnic table, a fire pit, and wood available. The best part was the quiet, as cars were not frequent and nobody walks by. We were able to walk a few miles daily with no issues which was wonderful for the dog. I'm already looking forward to next year, so better beat me to it! :)

Steve's property was beautiful! We were graciously greeted by Lucy and Steve's wife(I'm so sorry to be blanking on her name, she was very welcoming as well!). Our stay was shorter than we would've liked, but following a nice dirt path to get to our site, we came to a nice cleared out space, with plenty of firewood with some covered just in case of rain. I had my wife and 2 year old with me, and it was so nice to sit by the fire, with absolutely ZERO light pollution to see the stars, and nothing but the sounds of owls and other wildlife in the area. We're already looking forward to booking another trip sometime next year!

David and Roxanne were great hosts and we loved the visits from their two dogs Rook and Willa who were very sweet. It rained a bit during our stay but we had solid shelter, a roof, and all the firewood we needed to stay toasty. Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs is a lounge/studio area. Note that the bedroom is accesses via a ladder type staircase. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit. If you're allergic, this isn't a good option for you.

Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music. Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west! Biking: The roads of the Ellis Hollow area are popular with cyclists, while nearby Yellow Barn Forest, Hammond Hill and Shindagin Hollow are popular spots for mountain biking.  Full disclosure: Cascadilla Meadow’s RV parking is close to a moderately used local road. Tall power lines cut across this lot. We are also located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station. The biodiversity is vibrant, and the birding is very good. 12 minute drive from Ithaca, 8 minutes to the center of Trumansburg, 7 minute drive from Grassroots, + supermarket, pharmacy etc, 6 minutes to the lower entrance of Taughannock Falls State Park Fire pit, grate, and firewood provided. No shower available, but the creek is deep enough to dunk in. No RV hookup available. Composting toilet nearby. No buckets needed. Campsite is about 400 yards from the road; car access to within 150 feet. The bugs aren't bad at all, because there's no standing water around, but bring bug spray if they like you. If you're looking for a place for excessive or underage drug/alcohol consumption, we're not here to narc you, but please find a different campsite. Our friend Meg lives in a camper about 200 yards away, and has a friendly dog named Chaga. "We're dog friendly if your dog is friendly." Text me if you need an early check-in or late check-out. We are close to Treman, Buttermilk And Taughannock State Parks which all have swimming. Watkins Glen State Park and racetrack is half an hour away. 150 breathtakingly magnificent waterfalls in this area. Great hiking. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. We are between two finger lakes, Cayuga and Seneca, there are 60 wineries and breweries around the lakes. Woman’s Rights National Museum in Seneca Falls, Corning Museum of Glass is fabulous. Ithaca has theatres, many museums & lots for kids to do. You will find breathtaking moments beneath one of the park’s 12 waterfalls. Twelve! Hike along nine miles of trails in Enfield Glen, a rugged wooded gorge that will leave you wide-eyed with wonder. Take in views of the 115-foot Lucifer Falls from the gorgeous Gorge Trail or explore a Historic Gristmill.

Probably the park’s coolest attraction is a natural swimming pool at the base of Lower Falls. It’s perfect for a hot summer day and even has a diving board! Pro tip: check the water temperature on the park’s website before you go, it varies widely. There is also plenty of fishing and hunting nearby. Plus, options for the kiddos make this a destination for the whole family.

Robert H. Treman State Park Campground
Nice spot, very shady; so I imagine its nice in the hotter months. I had things to do in Dryden so I spent the evenings there, not so much the day. I have hiked the trails prior and enjoyed myself!

Robert H. Treman State Park Campground
The campground has an area with wooded sites, an area with sites in a large field (with hookups for RVs), and an area for the cabins (which looked very cool). All sites have fire rings and a picnic table. There are also flush toilets and free showers; these facilities were well-maintained and clean. We stayed in site 35 which is a wooded site located at the end of a loop. It was one of the larger, more private sites; reserve it if it is available. We hiked the Gorge Trail (2.12 miles) with a return on the Rim Trail (2.09 miles) - alongside the gorge of Enfield Glen and past twelve waterfalls. The route was a lot of up and down with terrain through wooded areas as well as on rocks next to the water. Stunning views!
