45-acre Historic farm, several sites to choose from depending on adventure wanderlust (including a 4WD drive site). Located on private gravel lane, approximately 1/2 mile off county road. Either corn or soybeans with a woods backdrop. Secluded and private, yet 25 minutes to downtown Annapolis, 10 minutes to the Bay, great for cycling, paddleboarding, kayaking all 10/15 minutes from farm. DC 45 minutes, Baltimore 1 hour. Jug Bay wetlands, wineries, fun little waterfront towns and Bay front restaurants all within easy reach.
Check out individual sites for description, each has its own personality. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. First listing actually has several options. For large campers/coach/fifth wheelers the area by the tractor shed will be the best. Around the corner there's two other choices both with firepits which will accommodate units up to 40 feet depending on your backing/maneuvering skills.
Field of Dreams and Sycamore Ridge will accommodate campers under 25 feet with some backing/maneuvering skills.
For those with 4WD and an off-road camper/trailer/tent choose Off the Grid, two entrances for easy access, travel along a logging road to an open site with fire pit. A 3-person salt-water hot tub is available, contingent on availability. $50/hr. and requires a shower before entering. Spa robes, towels, and slippers are provided, depending on availability.
2 e-bikes and 1 mountain bike, all of which are contingent upon availability. A signed waiver is required. Minimum age is 16 years old or at the discretion of the host. They cost $25/hr. per person.
Experienced horse riders can book horse rides for $50/hr. per person. Inexperienced riders must be led using a lead rope. Signed waivers and provided helmets are required.
Our in-ground, unheated swimming pool is open mid-April to end October. $60/hr.

The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river.
Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching.

THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites.
Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.
In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples."

From the flat land at the bottom to the top of the mountain, this is a place where you can find a spot to sit and think, draw, paint, nap, or identify over 30 medicinal plants in their natural habitats (absolutely NO harvesting of medicinals or wildflowers!). Listen to the many birds, spot the wildflowers.
Some areas are accessible by wheelchair, while others are not, but all areas offer something to sustain your spirit.
If you feel the need to explore the area, you are within walking distance of NotaViva Farm Brewery and Winery, 15 dirt road minutes from the new Sweet Run State Park one direction and Breaux Vineyard in the other direction. The Appalachian Trail is just over the top of the mountain and Harpers Ferry National Park is down the road and over the Shenandoah River.
We might be a teeny bit biased, but we think this is area of northwest Loudoun County, VA is one of the loveliest places in the world.

About the property
Located on a 66-acre plot just five miles from the Shenandoah River, our property offers amazing access to hiking and the outdoors while also keeping civilization within striking distance. Bear Chase Brewery is just a half mile walk across the street, and we are 15 miles from Purcellville.
The land and lodge used to be the summer home of a trained opera singer, whose singing could be heard throughout the mountain.
Your Host lives onsite in the stone house that also acts as a hostel for hikers on the Appalachian Trail. Built in the 1930's all from locally sourced hand-hammered stone, the house is open every night from 5pm - 9pm.
Note that we offer several campsites relatively close to each other, so you should expect to see and hear other campers on the property during your stay.
About the listing
Pitch your tent in a forested area just a short walk up from where you’ll park your car. Enjoy unbeatable proximity to hiking and panoramic views while still having basic amenities that ensure a comfortable stay.
You’ll have access to a composting pit toilet, and can access potable water from the tap in the lodge. That’s also where you can access hot showers. As noted above, we host Appalachian Trail thru hikers on the property, so you may see them hanging around or sleeping in the bunkhouse near the shared facilities. so please be respectful of hours when you come in for a shower.

For meals, we have picnic tables, and you are encouraged to cook over the fire pits that accompany each site. Please practice Leave No Trace practices during your stay, as the property has raccoons and other critters who will be drawn to any food scraps that are left behind.

30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive.
Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing.
Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support!

Suzette and her husband were friendly and very helpful. Their site was shady and quiet and on a separate drive away from the hosts' house. The 30 Amp hookup was well placed and worked without a hitch. While they were up-front about water you have to be prepared and fill up your fresh water tank before arrival. They can (and did) assist with getting water from their outside spigot if and when you need it, but they did not have a hose long enough to get down to the camper site so you have to bring your camper to the spigot.

Cute little campsite with fire pits and a cozy vibe for a first camping experience 🏕️🔥 The place itself was peaceful and had some really nice spots to relax around the fire. Since it was our first time camping, we were still figuring things out, especially with making the fire, and the rainy weather made it a bit harder. Even though we couldn’t really get the campfire going, we still enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere. I’d definitely come back again in better weather conditions to enjoy it fully.

The lodge was great for a mixed aged group and was well stocked for a place tucked in the woods. That said, some of the kids were not used to being surrounded by so much nature and had issues adjusting to sharing space with bugs. So maybe talk to them about the difference between hotels in a city and lodges in the woods. ;-)

bird activity! There’s a rough path through the grass down to the river bank. Caught a few smallmouth bass and a fallfish. Driving through the creek was fun, there are some decent ruts on the path but we had no issues crossing in a Subaru Outback.

Beautiful property! We stayed here because we wanted to mountain bike Patapsco State Park but their Hollofield camping area was closed. This was a great option for us- 20 to 30 minutes away from the trails, very quiet and peaceful place to camp. There’s a fire pit and a picnic table. Plenty of room for our dogs to run and play. Scott and his family were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!

My husband and I camped with our travel trailer here and had a great experience! Kind people, and gave us access to community center that had bathrooms showers, fridge and kitchen. Pool was closed so we got a discount on some of the camping fees. A very lovely natural experience!

Overview
About
Follow the scenic Potomac River for several miles to explore the nation's capital. This memorial parkway starts near CIA headquarters in McLean, Virginia, across the river from Washington. It winds to the southeast and ends at Mount Vernon. The one-way trip takes 30 minutes.
Back in George Washington's time, this journey took at least a day or more on horseback. When Washington was president, the federal capital was in New York.
This route takes you past the memorials and monuments on Washington's south side. You can easily see the Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial from the river. On your right, there's the Arlington National Cemetery that honors the nation's fallen heroes. This parkway goes through old Alexandria's historic buildings further along the route. Then you see verdant trees and floodplains as you approach Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon provides a personal glimpse into Washington's home life. You can walk through the grounds, see Washington's grave and take a tour of the house.
In between the capital and Mount Vernon, you have many opportunities for side trips. Head south into Virginia to see Civil War battlefields, the Pentagon, and other government buildings. Go north to see the full scope of the nation's capital and the surrounding towns. Parks and green spaces have places for romantic hikes and walks.
Campsites on both sides of the river offer secluded spots to spend a few days or weeks. Rustic sites in parks have forested areas with grills and campfire rings. RV sites have modern amenities that make a visit to Washington DC more comfortable.
