Escape to a quiet, off-grid bell tent farm stay on a 10-acre working farm in Cedarville, MD. Set in open pasture with woods nearby, this four-season canvas tent features a wood stove, fire-pit cooking, solar power, and dark skies. It’s ideal for campers, families, and outdoor lovers seeking nature, space, and a digital detox—just minutes from state forests, rivers, and trails, and an easy drive from DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore.The campsite is located on the 6-acre side of a quiet, 10-acre farm, set in open pasture with a wooded backdrop at the rear of the property. The land is flat, spacious, and peaceful, offering wide views by day and dark skies by night. With minimal light pollution, guests can enjoy stargazing, identify constellations, and experience truly quiet evenings away from the city. At the center of the campsite is a four-season, 6-meter circular canvas bell tent, designed for comfort in all weather. Inside, the tent features well-spaced sleeping arrangements with sturdy cots and provided bedding, allowing guests to rest comfortably after a day outdoors. An indoor wood stove provides warmth and ambiance during cooler months and makes the tent usable year-round. Outside, the campsite is fully set up for gathering, cooking, and relaxing. Guests have access to two outdoor fire pits, a BBQ grill, and a designated cooking area suitable for full meals. Seating includes outdoor chairs and tables arranged for conversation, dining, or simply enjoying the surroundings. A 300-foot string-light system outlines the campsite, providing soft lighting at night while preserving the dark-sky atmosphere. A dedicated wood storage and cutting station is available near the campsite, with firewood provided. Off leash, on leash. Pets are more than welcome,but proceed with caution. The property is large, and un fenced, bordering the woods. Dogs/pets can get loose if not properly leashed, and retrieving the pet could be difficult

Joshua's place was absolutely incredible! The tent was very comfortable, and he even had a large battery pack which we could have used for a fan in the summer. The place felt like a complete exhale and that's exactly what I needed.

We loved the yurt! It was very clean and had everything we needed. The fire pit was a perfect set up. During the day, we went on a nearby hike at Cederville state park, which was perfect since there is limited shade at the campsite. I’d recommend bringing an extra sunshade since there is only one umbrella at the table and has limited mobility. We definitely plan to return.

The best camping experience

This is the best camping place I’ve ever stayed in It literally has everything you need, it was so nice to disconnect and relax in here, I am an artist and I never get the peace to just paint without interruptions but in here I even got inspiration from the land. The host is super nice, he met me and my sister at check in to show us around and make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I felt super safe out there and I never felt like we were missing something. I will definitely come back! Also there is a lot of yummy places in that area so we were never hungry lol If you are reading this and considering staying just book it already!

I absolutely loved camping at grasshopper acres. The entire experience absolutely exceeded my expectations. Josh had everything prepared for us when we arrived, he was very helpful and pleasant. The outdoor camp potty was very clean and had plenty of supplies. The tent was very well prepared with cots, tables and a wood stove. It rained off and on the entire weekend that we camped. However, it didn't bother us because we had more than enough space inside of the tent. We painted, played games and just fellowship and enjoyed each other's company. It was an absolutely great experience and I can't wait to do it again.

Josh is the nicest human! Honestly, the favorite part was the toilet. Best outhouse at a glamping site I’ve seen yet! He had all of the cooking supplies we needed, plenty of wood, and the tent was super comfortable, especially with the stove at night. Thanks for making my Mama’s day weekend even better.

DC Trip Glamping Experience

Off‑Grid Bell Tent Farm Stay

Spacious land with neighbors far enough away that you’ll never feel crowded. It’s a glamping style experience that still captures the spirit of real camping and you get the atmosphere without the hassle of setting up and breaking down all your gear. The tent itself is huge, easily fitting an additional 2–3 cots beyond the 2 already provided, which come with sheets and blankets. (Bring your own extra blankets if you’re expecting a cold night.) A small space heater inside the tent keeps things warm, and there’s a composting BOXIO toilet with a foot pump sink nearby. There are plenty of other amenities too, but it's too many to list here. One thing to be aware of: this site is genuinely off grid. It’s a few miles from the main road, and the further in you go, the narrower, rougher, and less paved the roads get. It felt a little eerie, though the host does disclose this upfront. No real complaints, this spot works for just about anyone. The host was incredibly accommodating, informative, and kind. Would absolutely return if I find myself in the area again.
