12 Acres in the Redwoods. Creekside, many many swimming holes lots of open spaces private driveway secluded location. lots of chickens usually an endless supply of eggs for breakfast. Small campfires available. Hot showers, wood-burning stove, kitchen amenities and running water. This is our home, it is private, eclectic and filled with natural beauty. That being said, it is by no means pristine. We have the occasional junk pile like most off grid homesteaders do. We do not throw out some things that others would. We try to find a use for old and weathered equipment and materials. Our cabin is built completely with recycled and reclaimed materials. Like I said, we do not like to waste anything, so you may notice a few parts and pieces laying around.

Hidden SC gem 🐓🔥🌲🏕️🦎
WeI stayed here as a group of three relatively inexperienced camper girls and our trip was so amazing. Leaving it we all felt very capable because (with the help of Thor) we learned to make and cook over a big fire and deal with pouring pouring rainy conditions while still having a fabulous time. The highlight of our trip was getting a glimpse into the lifestyle of a homesteader who is turning his land into a really awesome place. We loved collecting eggs from the chickens in the morning and then cooking them. The eggs were the best eggs we have ever eaten! We got to sit by the creek that is right at the campsite and even saw a newt!!! The location has infinite hikes nearby. We did a six mile hike that was about 15 minutes away called the Alma and Redwood Springs loop where we saw many pretty wildflowers and old growth redwoods. We recommend Alltrails to find the right hike for you. There was even a bit of wifi on the site which was awesome. Definitely will be coming back and are so so excited to see how the land evolves over the years. Thank you so much 😊

Nothing Short of Amazing
The property was incredible. Our tent was situated by a babbling brook and surrounded by trees making for an incredibly relaxing experience. Thor and his dad were nothing short of amazing as when the rain started to pour there was a cabin for us to stay in. The fresh eggs from the coop were delicious. All and all we will be back and be bringing friends.

Thor and Emily's hospitality was great. From ensuring we came prepared, to asking if we needed anything from the store when Emily was on her way out. The tent site itself was amazing. We loved staying next to the creek! We will definitely be back!

Up Shit creek, Cabin
We stayed in the cabin at Thor’s and absolutely loved it. The place is right by a stream and the sound of the water was so peaceful throughout the day. Thor prepared firewood for us so we had plenty to use at the fire pit. Between the grill at the fire pit and a small kitchenette, it was super easy to prepare food. The cabin is equipped with WiFi. There were three of us and we tried one night with 2 in the cabin bed/ 1 pitching a tent outside, and the second night with all 3 of us sleeping in the cabin (there was a cot for the third). I really loved this location; it was a step up from tent camping but not quite glamping, so got the best of both worlds. Highly recommend

Thor is a lovely person and Up Shit Creek is such a lovely place to be at!! I felt so safe and happy! Thor was incredibly attentive and thorough. I absolutely love how there are chickens and peacocks. The creek was also so amazing - the noise of the rushing water put me right to sleep like a baby. There was a great grill and fire pit (wood logs were provided) will definitely be coming back again. Can't wait to see how Up Shit Creek is during the summer!

We’re already planning our next tri
We had the greatest time on Thor’s property! Our first two nights were spent on a tent site above the creek. The sites are large and provide beautiful scenery. The flowing creek in combo with nature’s sounds make for comforting surroundings that put us right to sleep. Our last evening at Thor’s, we rented the cabin on his property. This was quite the treat! The bed is comfortable and the wood burning stove kept us warm all night. This made for an even more perfect morning on the porch sipping our very fresh coffee, eating our very fresh eggs from Thor’s hens, and overlooking the gorgeous redwoods on his property. We were sad to leave but already planning our next trip back. Thor and Travis are wonderful hosts. Their property is located central to most popular hikes. There is a market less than 10 minutes away, if you forgot anything. I recommend a stay on Thor’s property the next time you’re looking to visit this area. They will take great care of you. :)
