Downstairs (not heated) features a small kitchen area with sink and propane stove/griddle and a bathroom area with a portable/flushing toilet. Plates, bowls and cutlery are provided along with cooking utensils and a handful of pots, pans, and bowls. Salt, sugar, and olive oil also provided. We provide filtered water and cream in the refrigerator upon your arrival, and for families with young children we have a gate to block the staircase and outlet caps for added security.
Twelve chickens are a part of our family, and you are welcome to feed the chickens clover or fresh flowers, and help us plant flowers or pick apples depending on the season! We also have two farm dogs and two farm cats who might want to say hello.

The first time we viewed this property, we knew we were home.
The woods, fields, wildlife, and house (created almost entirely from the lumber harvested from the land) drew us in. We purchased the home and 40 acres in 2018.
Since then it has been a labor of love to make it everything we dream.
A campground suitable for horseback riding was the goal for W15266.
This was where the original homestead stood (firepit area).
That home was transported across 95 on Davis road to become an Amish home.
This area was overgrown and filled with rubbish, but still had a great deal of suitable plants hidden in the raspberries. We are continually working to groom it, and eventually, hope to better level the drive and sites and cover them with gravel.
We need more and better fire pits and intend to have at least one more cabin- perhaps created from a refurbished corn crib?
This cabin was refurbished in 2020 from the original homestead’s summer kitchen (where food was prepared to keep the house from getting too warm).
Although it may have been easier to demolish and start over, Julie convinced Craig that the history was worth it. ;) I can’t tell you how disGUSTING it was, but we found treasures like the chair upstairs, the ironing board, and items on the walls and cupboards amongst the piles of Asian beetles and mouse chewings.
Our current project you see in front is the bath/shower house.
It has a toilet and shower and was completed 2021. With expansion, we will add one more toilet on the other side.
The old shed in front, is a disaster.
We fluctuate the same way we did with the summer kitchen: bulldoze or refurbish? It currently houses our equipment and lumber, but someday, we are hoping to have a small country Tiki bar.
Craig has received the liquor license already.
We love tucked away country bars with unique flavors, so we hope we can offer this to our customers.
Jeske Equestrian is also a boarding/training facility.
We built the horse barn in 2019, and last year we put up a 60x180 indoor riding arena.
Maintaining and creating trails has been extensive.
Keeping up on the signage and the trail map has been nearly impossible since Craig loves creating new ones with the skid steer on a regular basis!
We are working on the pond area to be more recreational in our future as well.

The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Welcome ; Located in southeast Minnesota's Driftless region of hills, valleys, fields and forests, we are a grass based working dairy farm with over 100 acres of woodland,
including an extensive trail system and campsites in our wooded acres. What makes this woodland special is it's quiet, secluded setting and over 6 miles of hiking / skiing trails.
Our farmstead sits three quarter of a mile off the paved county highway on our well maintained gravel driveway.
Each of our campsites are secluded from the others with their own sawdust compost toilets, picnic tables, fireplaces, and firewood.
Two of our sites require 4WD with a minimum of 6 inches ground clearance
to access, and two are accessible with 2WD.
If you do not have 4WD we can help transport your gear while you enjoy the walk in.
There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. The winding trails through 100 acres of woodland offer a variety of woodland habitats, from Old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride.
For winter users there is a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging winter cross country skiing
or snowshoeing / hiking
on the property. However the Rock Bottom Cabin is our only heated and insulated site and is available for winter booking. Winter access is walk in only with snow on the ground or in the forecast. We can help transport gear.
This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows.
Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites.
No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book.
We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.

The English Pale Campground is located along the Black River in Jackson County, 1 mile west of the Village of Melrose. The entire property only allows guests and occupants who are 21 or older. Sites/house can be booked 6 months in advance. The main campground is 70 feet above the river. We have 5 rustic (no hook-ups) RV/Travel Trailer/Tent sites, a fully furnished “Manor” House, a travel trailer as well as 2 rustic beach sites that are located along the river. The property is a total of 70 acres, which includes the 4+ acre beach, a mile of river front and trails through the woods that connect them all.
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: The river edge erosion wall construction is complete. The area is being prepared to have 4 additional river sites added sometime in 2026 depending on vegetation growth. Plans include some limited vehicle access on the newly constructed gravel road.
The English Pale opened in 2021 and is a developing property. In November of 2025 an erosion wall was built along the Black River. This included clearing of a section of the forest, building a gravel access road and an riprap river wall to prevent further erosion. Since 2016 over 60 feet of the riverbank has washed away.
Our property offers a reasonable expectation of privacy and we do not offer day passes as our target guests are campers. We are an adult only property, but not a nudist campground, as that is not our central theme. We do not prohibit our guests from nudity for the purpose of sunbathing on the beach, campsites or sundeck, but nudity is not allowed in general common areas. Part of our nature is allowing discreet nudity for tanning purposes. While we target couples for time together, singles and groups are welcome. This is NOT a party campground, our goal is to let you connect with nature.

Weekend Trip to Rustic Log Cabin Retreat
We stayed 3 nights in one of these rustic cabins and had an amazing experience. Tucked behind the hosts’ farm, the cabins offer a peaceful, private getaway surrounded by nature. The hosts built everything themselves using materials from the property, which makes the cabins feel extra special and unique.
The hosts were incredibly friendly and thoughtful, checking in before our stay and showing us how everything worked when we arrived. They also shared great local recommendations. The cabins are pet friendly too, allowing up to 2 dogs.
This place is the perfect mix of rustic camping and cozy glamping, with hiking trails, beautiful scenery, a hammock, fire pit, solar lights, and even a welcome s’mores kit and a sample bottle of maple syrup they make. Everything you need is provided while still feeling like a true escape. Relaxing, beautiful, and unforgettable — we can’t wait to come back.

Peaceful, private, and dangerously relaxing; the kind of place where you sit by the stream for ‘just a minute’ and suddenly it’s sunset. The sound of the water alone melted the stress away. We weren’t the only ones who loved it either… Our pups had the best time exploring, lounging, and soaking it all in right along with us. A beautiful, quiet spot to unwind and recharge.

This was our first Hipcamp experience and we loved it! Having camped mostly in state parks, we enjoyed having a more private and quiet experience. Our dog was also more relaxed, not having to be on the leash all the time. Erica was a very attentive host even though we did not see her, but she made sure we had a great experience! We will definitely be back!

Great stay. Site was as great as we hoped for. Greg met us on Day one and gave us our eggs and answered the few questions we had. After that we had the privacy we were looking for and we're left alone for the weekend. I was able to catch one trout right at the campsite. I also collected some morel mushrooms further down the creek and cooked them up with my steak for diner. Only downside which is debatable was the lack of cell service. I was comfortable with it but the wife was wanting to be able to be reached by our kids if needed. I could get the occasional text to go through but that was it. Overall would recommend staying here.

Staying at Fall Hall Glen felt like being a kid again. Right back to camp! Getting to see the historic buildings was so cool. I also loved the bridge over the falls. Gorgeous! I could stand there all day! I also very much enjoyed kicking off my shoes and climbing around on the falls next to the swimming hole. It is a very shallow river, so it's great for wading and swimming.
The property is in bluff country, so be prepared for plenty of hills and stairs, but the views are 100% worth the climb. We had fantastic weather this past weekend, though the Wisconsin mosquitoes and ticks officially made their debut... definitely bring the DEET!
Patrick was an incredible host and took the time to show us around the entire property so we knew exactly where everything was. The bathhouse is was fully functional and so clean! Between the 9-year-old, the 13-year-old, the dog, and the adults, we all had a blast.

This place was amazing. Private with lots of beautiful woods and bright stars at night. Walking path to get out into nature. Host was very friendly and flexible and has wood available for camp fires for a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

2 nights at Gilles Family Dairy & Woodland
My husband and I camped here two nights this spring, and it was so lovely! No near neighbors, all the calming nature sounds, kind hosts, a very nice composting toilet that did not smell at all (which is huge to me), a well-ventilated A-frame cabin, and plenty of space to explore on the trails on site.
I would give this camp 6 stars if I could.
Side note: do take the "vehicles with AWD and 6 inches of clearance" seriously! The drive down would be pretty impossible otherwise

Lovely place and there's an easy trail up to an overlook with a great view. No problems finding everything, even arriving just after dark.

First it is very easy to get to the farm. Directions are easy to follow.
Once you get there you find the kindest welcome and many helpful directions on activities and getting around on their beautiful land.
Then, you are left to your own lodging choice both quiet and private.
The map and signs for hiking are equivalent to or better than my state park experiences.
A night time fire is easy to build and for me, sleeping in the Wooden Tent was just what I wanted and with more space than I thought I would get.
If you are wishing for a change of pace and scenery, this is your place. I look forward to returning.

My first camp of the season. Had a great stay and will definitely be back. Had an issue with my hitch and the host was so kind to help me with it. The greenhouse was lovely. I plan to explore the walking paths next time. Highly recommend!

We were there alone so there’s that but it was beautiful, quiet, had a very clean chemical toilet. There were if you a couple of comfortable chairs by the fire pit. If you brought small children, there was a playhouse with a kiddie kitchen and maybe a few bikes. The rocks could be dangerousl for climbing but they are posted

This was an absolutely beautiful cabin with great views of the woods behind the property. The cabin was perfect, clean and comfortable. Probably the cleanest, nicest outhouse I’ve ever seen and the hosts were wonderful.
