The dead-end road that goes through our property leads to another riverside community that is sparsely developed.

The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :)
This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out.
There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :)
*Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable.

The Luray Caverns, a national historic site, with it’s famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, are just a few minutes away, and tubing, canoeing, and white-water rafting adventure can be found at the nearby Shenandoah River. Museums and Civil War sites will feed your history-loving soul!
Onsite we have a brand-new camp store! We also have a large pool and small pool, a gathering yurt for groups and an event pavilion, a playground, and a jumping pillow is in the works! THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites.
Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.
In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples."

Everyone we encountered was so nice and very helpful. Keith was awesome and even helped troubleshoot some issues we were having with our RV. He is a super nice gentleman I think I could talk with for hours. Farm is beautiful and very well maintained.

We stayed one night with our two 12 year old girls. They loved kayaking , playing cornhole (from the shed on the property), dancing on the platform and roasting marshmallows. It was so peaceful and can’t wait to visit this site again. This has been our fave camping site yet!

I stayed here for just one night but really wish I could’ve stayed longer! The location is absolutely perfect, literally right on the water. The site is huge and could easily host a large group of friends while still feeling private and secluded. I also loved that I could bring my dog along. Despite feeling tucked away in nature, it’s only about 15 minutes from Berkeley Springs, which was super convenient. The host was very friendly and sent clear, detailed directions and instructions before my arrival. I’d love to come back when it’s a bit warmer. Overall this is definitely one of the nicest Hipcamps I’ve stayed at, especially for the location!

The Almost Heaven Bridge campsite at Stoney Creek Campground is definitely a winner - a beautiful misty morning over the the river bend. Andrey is a responsive host; we found the site as he described it and provided access info. Amenities were satisfying; a fire ring with turning grill filled all we needed for the night: campfire and cooking platform. Plenty of space with privacy. Bathroom assigned to our site/group exclusively, was clean and within comfortable reach even at night. Couldn’t beat the hot shower after a cool night! A convenient camp store with all the typical things one forgets for a camping weekend.
Would definitely recommend and come again.

If you like great pizza, beer, art and car camping this place is perfect. Your camp is 100 yards away from the brewery. Just awesome. You are not isolated from the other campsite but you are provided a large area. As other have mentioned you are on a slight hill but you can find fairly flat land
And with Denise and Tony both being artist, the brewery and surrounding areas had pieces of art everywhere. Even in the bathrooms
The bathrooms were pristine. Hot water and a heater. Extremely clean.
Denise and Tony were also extremely nice and friendly. We talked to them multiple times during the weekend discussing beer and art.
We have camped many of places and this is one of the top places in and around MD, PA and W. VA.

We loved our weekend at Kara’s land! It was well-appointed, with a ton of amenities-shower, grill, supplies in the shed, electricity, etc., but still primitive and exactly what we were hoping for. Kara’s land is so beautiful! From the trees and river, to the stunning stars and a few cameos by bald eagles and owls, we are more than happy and relaxed. We had tremendous luck fishing- a fun and constant catching of blue gill and even a few small mouth bass! There were ample tethers to attach our doggo so she never missed out on the action. A quick and lovely drive into town (20 min) to snag needed supplies and then back to remote, beautiful, secluded Byrd’s Nest for food cooked over a fire and staring at our surroundings. We will definitely be back.

Second time staying at Stoney Creek Campground, this time at the north site and had a blast. Mid October was a great time to visit for a peaceful getaway and view the vibrant changes in foliage with the fall season. Our group had a great time at the north site, which was spacious and well maintained with a beautiful view of the river and excellent access to the water. We made use of the camp store for firewood and supplies which was operated by friendly staff. Additionally, the bathroom was well maintained and stocked upon our arrival. We’ll definitely be back again and look forward to our next visit to Stoney Creek Campground.

Tony and Denise were amazing hosts throughout our trip. Site 1 is definitely the most level of the sites, and we had a no issues with our location. The walk to the restrooms and showers (separate location from the brewery bathroom upstairs) were well kept and clean. Most importantly, the beer was all worth trying and the live music all weekend was a great experience. If you're looking for an easy weekend glamping around some beautiful forested valley scenery, I can't recommend this place enough.

Weekend Trip to Locust Post Brewery Camp
Tony and Denise were so nice and our conversations with them really added to the experience. Very pretty area and the food and drinks at Locust Post were delicious! The campsite was very easy to get to and was in close proximity to restrooms which was very convenient. Will be coming back. Site 2 was a little slanted and it was difficult to find a flat spot but we were told site 1 and 3 were more flat, beyond that no complaints!
