2 Semi-Private Riverfront campsite
Great features but...
We had a great time visiting the campsite. Melissa was great to work with! She let us stay a little later as we got to the site a day late which was very kind.
Pros:
The site has features that are nice to have and enjoy - access to the water
- floating dock
- kitchen area
- electrical plugs,
- furniture around the campfire ready to go.
A few drawbacks:
- This is a single property split/shared with other hipcampers. If you don't get along with them, it's going to be a tough stay that neither group is going to enjoy! You will hear and see everyones business. There is no privacy from them.
- The outdoor kitchen, porta-potty, fire pit and floating dock are all shared. - The two sites are not clearly defined so it makes it tough to have any of your own space as you are constantly 'sharing' the majority of the site.
- The cost is high for what you're getting. If the sites was $70ish dollars a piece, it would be easier to share so much of the property but at $125 it should only be one site.
- The facilities need to be much more polished and newer if it remains this high of a price for two sites. Old furniture, broken lights, a plastic porta-potty and a rickity staircase to the water are easier to deal with "camping" when the price is right. But when the cost is on par with a hotel room that includes breakfast and air conditioning, its hard to overlook the lack of polish and disrepair.
We did enjoy our stay and hope that with some of the issues addressed we would try it again!

Serene camping spot
Tent camping on Melissa's hip camp was great, it is a beautiful spot with perfect river access. My friends and I had the perfect weekend camping here and exploring Harper's Ferry, and Melissa was very responsive and informative about all the features offered at the campsite like the kitchen and lights!

We’ll be back!
Amazing site! Easy access to the water. We brought tubes and an anchor and tied up right near the dock. The running water and electricity were huge conveniences. When we asked for tiki torches the owner came over right away and dropped some off. Plenty of room for games or a dog run. Plenty of shade. Very clean toilet. About 15 min from Walmart/Food Lion, etc. Good things to know: There are other tubers making their way down the river - but it’s HUGE, so they were no bother at all. It is helpful to bring 1-2 bundles of dry firewood to get you started if it has rained recently. Water off the dock is about 3 feet deep. 10/10 Enjoy!!

Couldn’t be happier!
This spot is perfect for tent camping. The facilities provided make for a luxurious experience and the river access is the cherry on top of the site already being stocked with activities, spaces for lounging, and plenty of space for the pups. Melissa is a gracious and attentive host and we can’t recommend her place enough!
