Purchased 25 years ago, Wolf Creek Preserve is a 450-acre private nature preserve. The Corn Crib is a former corn crib where corn was stored and dried after harvest. The structure's underpinnings and exterior layout date to the late 1800s, but it was first renovated in 2004 as a hunting cabin. The Corn Crib was transformed into its current tiny-home design in 2017, with additional improvements continuing through 2025.
The structure was part of an old farm that included several buildings, including a Victorian home that once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel in the 1800s. The property sits along the banks of Wolf Creek, and we own most of the land surrounding it. There are long stretches of creek, pasture, and woodland to explore.
This listing features a rustic, historic corn crib from the late 1800s that has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities, though it remains a quirky and compact space. Please note that the A/C unit and heat pump are portable and located next to the loft bed. Guests sleeping in the loft must climb narrow stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns.
The water comes from a well, and we do not recommend drinking it. At times, the water may have a slight sulfur smell, so guests who are sensitive to odors should be aware. The smell is not always present but may occur occasionally.

We are located 10 minutes from the interstate and Winterplace Ski Resort and just 20 minutes from New River Gorge State Park. Corn hole boards, swings, campsite cookers and chairs are provided.
Want to see 5 star panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains? This ultra-safe, ultra-private property is located only 10 minutes off interstate 77. There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :)
This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out.
There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :)
*Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable.

We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road.
We are also close to several state parks.
- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

- Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

Absolutely loved this place. It was a last minute booking (literally 3 hour notice) due to our preplanned site being cancelled suddenly. Very easy to access, kind welcome from the owner, with clear instructions. We had 4 adults and 8 children ages 1-12 years with direct river access. There were NO pesty bugs (no mosquitos, no bees, ants etc) -- normal camping moths and other insects. Fishing was good onsite, we caught about 12 small fish. Firewood on site was a little wet and hard to light but we managed. We used the grill rental which was far better than schlepping our own (bring your own matchlight charcoal!). We brought intertubes, which even in the shallow water was really fun for us. water was temp amazing. porta potties were relatively clean for what they are, but I still preferred my camp potty with pop up tent.
Sleep was incredible. The rushing water over the rocks was .... amazing. No sound maker needed even with toddlers. It gets chilly under the canopy so bring extra blankets!
Overall, we will DEFINITELY be back. It was so chill, nice people, just good camping by the river.
AC General lacked 5 things we needed but Dollar General 3.5miles away had everything we needed!

I absolutely loved my stay at Arrowhead Bike Farm & Campground. As a photographer, it served as the perfect base camp, with easy access to many of the area’s most photogenic locations. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back during the day, while the nights were peaceful and quiet—exactly what I look for when camping. The staff was friendly, the grounds were well-maintained, and the overall vibe was welcoming and unique. And if you’re a fan of craft beer and goats, you’re in for a treat—they have both!

Weekend Trip to Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)
Pablo & Lorena were amazing! They are so kind, caring, accommodating and helpful. The site was perfect! I took my 93 year old mother and she had the time of her life. She slept better than she has in a long time. The invisible house was so tranquil and the beds were so comfy. Lorena & Pablo’s took the tubes and kayak to the river for us and offered to pick us up down the river. This was a trip she will never forget!

Our stay was at the "North" site, and we could not have had a more positive experience. We backed a 34ft travel trailer into this site, so no worries getting in. Site is right ON the river and the views are spectacular. Nothing but privacy and solitude. Andrey could not have more accommodating. Providing shuttle service up river to kayak, information about the local area, etc... Really nice spot, really nice people, not one negative thing at all.

Pablo & Lorena have set up a wonderful oasis in a beautiful part of the WV wilds. They are very welcoming, the cabin has everything you'd need for your stay and more. The heated shower was a nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

Hands down the best spot is #11 if you want to be separated from the other spots. Though all of them are very well spaced for privacy!
Took my sister on her first camping trip here.
Bonus: Mulehalla has a bunch of games and throwables at the main cabin, so you definitely won’t find yourself bored with any spare downtime.

We loved staying here! It was so beautiful and private. We were happily surprised that there were so many boats and that the shed had extra supplies. We brought our own paddleboards as well. The river was a little fast for relaxing on the water, but we still had a great time.

Camping at the Hilltop Sunrise was awesome! This spot is close to the road which is great for access and phone service! Traffic wasn’t too noisy at night. The host, John, is incredibly welcoming and helpful. John made sure all facilites were working and showed me a cute little frog that was hanging out by the laundry. The hot shower is a major perk of this spot. I camped in my car and used the platform to hang out in my camp chair and do some yoga. I definitely recommend staying here!

5 nights at Sacred Roots Herbal Sanctuary
We loved camping at Sacred Roots! Hillary was so kind and responsive. Campsite 3 was well maintained and felt very private. We couldn’t see or really hear the other campers at all. You will hear trains though! We found them to be quite therapeutic, but someone with less affinity may want to bring earplugs for overnight. There were many deer that stopped by to say hello and an abundance of beautiful birds to keep us company too. The property does get cell signal so be sure to silence/turn off phones to really unplug. 😉
The shower is open roof and felt amazing in the rain. We used an umbrella to keep our stuff dry as the changing area is open as well. There are 2 composting outhouses and one port-a-potty on the property. They were all well kept and within a reasonable distance from the sites. The spigot was a bit of a further walk, but the water was good tasting and cold!
The gardens were beautiful with so many impressive herbs. We didn’t get to walk the whole grounds but plan to return sometime in the near future to explore and reconnect with nature even more.
This has easily become one of our favorite spots and we are so thankful for the opportunity to stay here!!! We cannot recommend it enough!

Weekend Trip to Sacred Roots Herbal Sanctuary
I have been staying on Hillary's land for over 6 years now, and have loved each experience. Whether I am tent camping, in the tree house, Cozy Cottage, or any of the other sites, it is a quiet and personal experience. You can visit and enjoy the land, reset, and feel energized and refreshed when you leave. The cottage is terrific when it rains!
