Great camping spot at Site 1, it over looks the valley behind the property is gorgeous to wake up to. As the description says, you definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get up the hill. It takes someone spotting, but you can navigate through the trees to get your vehicle directly at the site. We arrived in the evening and in the dark it was a challenge. There is a portapotty/outhouse as far as amenities, but no running water at the site. Bring water with you to avoid a long walk. I would absolutely come back and stay again!

Wendy's Hipcamp was amazing! The location along the James River was absolutely stunning. Our site felt secluded from the other sites and had plenty of space for hanging out. We loved waking up and walking right down to the river to enjoy our coffee. The location is close to Natural Bridge State Park and Wendy's recommendation for Natty B Cafe was the perfect spot to grab food in the area.

I'll just get these 2 negative things out of the way so someone else doesn't stay and give a bad review. Because it doesn't deserve a bad review, The place is Amazing, However if you're a light sleeper then a windy Autumn stay probably isn't for you because the leaves land on and slide down the roof and sides and its rather loud. Also something randomly flaps around on the roof in high winds making alota noise, The bed is super cozy, The place is very private and is just a relaxing environment to be in. Me and my Dog would stay again (Not in the Autumn 🤣)

2 nights at Mountain Magnolia Forest Farm

I think this site is as-described in the listing! It’s a convenient location to several of the national park trailheads. The outhouse is cute and clean - you just take the trail that goes over the bridge and up the stone steps and you’ll find it (the tp is in the plastic tubs - I missed it at first!). I camped in my car just because the site is in a little rural neighborhood and directly across from a house - it seemed nice and safe, but as a single woman camper with my dog, I just felt more comfortable in a locked car. The only thing I’d change is maybe the fire pit walls being a little higher - it’s pretty low to the ground and I was worried about the sparks!

Perfectly positioned in the Pocahontas County mountains, West Virginia’s largest park is just secluded enough to offer relaxation, but not so isolated that you’ll have to fend for yourself. Forty miles of hiking trails are threaded throughout, a few of which are bike-friendly. If you’re here overnight, the camping and cabin accommodations are large enough that you’re guaranteed to find the perfect place to cook up whatever you caught on the 11-acre lake. And, if you’re traveling with your little learners, the park’s seasonal educational programs will answer every question they have about the Watoga wilderness. (Plus, they’ll love the solar-heated swimming pool!)
