I enjoyed my time at the bus. Scott made sure I was settled in and got a fire going for me. After that they just let me be and allowed me to relax.

Scott was great. He responded quickly and was very helpful, but gave us our space and privacy. The paths through the woods and the little fairy lights were very nice. The grill has a little side burner , so you can do all of your cooking outdoors. How to set up the second bed, or even where to find the second bed, was not blatantly obvious. Be sure to ask for instructions. It is easy and comfy once you figure it out. Using their personal shower in the main house was a little uncomfortable, but that's just my own problem. Again , Scott was very accommodating and gave us space and privacy. The bathroom and sink in the bus are a regular R.V set up with a water tank, so you must use water conservatively. It was so hot, so we never had a campfire, but Scott provided some firewood, and there were nice tiki torches to keep the bugs away.
We really enjoyed our stay. It would seem that the negative reviewers failed to remember that this is a Hip Camp and not an Airbnb. It's not even a $30k RV parked at a campground. It is quiet, rustic camping with a real bed and some convenient amenities. This is a great Hipcamp!
Great little space with A/C, running water, flush toilet & electricity.
Beds were comfortable with warm blankets & plenty of pillows.
The kitchen setup was basic but had everything needed for cooking basic meals, including an outside grill, a two-top propane stove inside and a small fridge.
I purchased a dozen eggs and they were excellent!
Will look into staying here again if the opportunity comes up.

The stay was absolutely beautiful . It had everything we needed it was my boyfriends first time camping so he was nervous but staying the night here made him change his mind he loved the out doors it was just something quick & simple just to get away for the night . The bus is next to his house but the host didn’t bother us at all . He was on stand by if we needed him . Which i liked for the privacy . We just wanted the wood burning & smiling in each others faces lol . Google Maps doesn’t help you get to the bus but Apple does takes you straight to the bus only thing is we drove in the night we were to literally follow Scott’s directions to keeping left lol we thought we were going in his grass but we over thought it . Lovely stay we will definitely return back thank you .
The bus was just what I needed! Peace and relaxation. Scott was an amazing host, that gives you a great experience on his farm. Will definitely be back in the future!

The bus is located in a gorgeous setting that is also convenient to main road into town for conveniences, restaurants, as well as access to spectacular forest for hiking and other outdoor activities.
The bus has everything we needed to rest and enjoy ourselves. Scott was very responsive and considerate, and provided home comforts to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Highly recommend!

Scott was friendly and available to help out whenever needed. The bus was very cute, I loved the fern stencils on the outside. I also loved how many different kinds of mushrooms were growing around the property, it was fun to explore. Their cat was so affectionate. A great place for a quiet and relaxing stay and a good launch pad for exploring nearby cities and nature spots (Roanoke, Floyd, Blue Ridge Parkway)

Neat experience staying overnight in the bus! Very comfortable!
Easiest stay! Got there. Scott met us outside to show us the gist of things. Great AC, a good as a twin bed can get, and clean! I’d stay here 100 more times!
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay on Scott’s property. He was super accommodating with our very late arrival and was helpful anytime we needed anything. We had a great chat and got to see his animals! 10/10 host, 10/10 property, 10/10 experience.
It's a beautiful piece of land that was perfectly calm and quiet for my mini retreat (2 days). There was an odd cold front that moved through and Scott had a small heater already in the bus when I arrived. That plus the 3 blankets kept me cozy. I was glad to have brought bedroom slippers!
Scott provided 4 small bottles of water for drinking (+5 gallons for washing) but I was happy I'd brought a gallon of drinking water because I drank it all!
The busy was super cute and comfy. I really appreciated having a toilet, ac, and heater. The cat never came to visit, but it was fun watching the chickens and wildlife. We'll definitely be back.

Cute! Scott was very nice and even built us a fire for both nights of our stay. Loved the bus and the cooking supplies were a big help.

Good location (shortly off I-81) and plenty of room for us. Fire pit was well stocked and host was super nice and accommodating. Friendly cat who came to visit was a nice bonus!

The bus was a fantastic find, great location for hiking and a great experience. Scott was very friendly and welcoming!
My friend and I did have a great time staying at this rustic bus, but I did want to make some suggestions. The directions listed will take you on a road down from the actual location. We spent a good 20 minutes driving up and down the road wondering where this bus was located. We ended up pulling into one of the driveways and spoke with someone that stated he's had multiple people stop and ask where to find this specific camp. I'm mentioning this because it would've been really hard to find this at night. We figured out that we had to go down the highway, make a U turn and then you'll see the address on the mailbox.
The actual location is pretty close to the main house, but offers a ton of solitude and great nature vibes. We got to visit with the cat (Fin) who lives there- he was extremely friendly and loved to be pet. The bus was very rustic, smelling of pretty strong mildew. The fire pit was fully stocked of wood and ready to be burned! There's a ton of firewood around the property so I wouldn't worry about buying wood. We went into Fincastle and Daleville to have drinks and food. Overall, this was a very cute and very rustic place to stay.
The land was perfectly situated between Roanoke and the state parks! The bus had everything I needed and the posting was accurate to the description. Scott was very helpful and accommodating- I ran out of cooking gas and he went to the store and got some for me right away!

Absolutely loved the bus! Very cool and unique experience. Plenty of space, lighting, and had want you needed. A/C was super cold!! Having a toilet inside the bus and running water was amazing. Using the host shower was not a problem. Host was friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend booking.
We needed a place to stay for a night, seen this cool bus and decided to book! First, it’s not that easy to find the spot. Nothing a simple sign won’t fix though. I didn’t realize that the bus sits right next to the host’s home. So this isn’t really that private for those that want a secluded feel. We’re all down for low thrills camping, but this seemed just a little under loved lacking that rustic charm we were hoping for. I don’t know if it’s been awhile since someone stayed but the appliances and amenities were very dusty and not clean. Especially the chairs and grill outside... I’m not expecting Airbnb but I also don’t want to deep clean things In order to use them. I much rather it not be offered at all. The listing say it sleeps two! Unless the other person is a child and can fit in one of the sitting areas , it’s hard to see how two ppl can sleep and comfortably. And if it was a way to create another bed, there were no instructions. Even though there was AC, it still needed better ventilation for air quality, cooking and the bathroom. I wanted to love this place. Still cool to be able to say we stayed in a vintage bus!

I would highly recommend staying here! The place was super cute and in good, clean condition. It was perfect for one person, might be tight for two people. Scott was very responsive and met me at check-in to show me around. He started the tiki torches and offered to start the fire for me both nights! His cat was very friendly, but would stay away if pushed away. Lots of good hiking in the area, and town is not too far away. The air conditioning worked very well. I had a great two-night stay!

Scott was very flexible and communicative with a long delay on my end. The place was easy to find and cozy, plenty of space to spread out.
Only caveat for the winter, not super warm! There’s a small space heater but slept with my coat on. The AC unit appears to be pretty robust for the summers, didn’t look too close but seemed like a standard window unit AC.

Scott’s bus was just what I was looking for! I needed a bed for a few hours on a road trip, and this location was a good stoping point for the night. I wish I had more time to spend in the area. The hosts were very friendly and helpful- I arrived late and they had tiki torches going for me outside the bus. The bed was comfy, the amenities were as described. Way more fun than stopping at a hotel along the highway!
To prospective guests who read the reviews with complaints- remember, this is an old bus, not a new hotel room. Don’t let Instagram mislead you into thinking that a 40 year old bus in the woods is a suite at the Marriott. This option is a step above camping, and the price reflects it. When you come with tictok fantasies and leave negative reviews, it hurts the hosts business. If you can’t conserve water or handle a bug, then go rent a hotel room. Hipcamp is a great resource, please don’t ruin it for the rest of us.

The info said there were showers available, there were not . It said 2 single beds , there is only 1 . We woke up the first morning and there was no water . Very poor communication with the host. They would not answer texts when we had questions. We had booked 2 nights , we left after the first one.

The bus is very cute & cozy, but there was black mold on the counter & an overwhelming aroma of moisture/mildew. It caused my partner to have a headache, and bothered our breathing to the point where we woke up in the middle of the night & slept in the car instead, which I could do for free.
