This property has 8 sites MESSAGE US FOR DETAILS REGARDING OUR AMENITIES AND FACILITIES. Check us out on Facebook at... GREEN ACRES VA CAMPING .. We are an officially permitted and licensed, by the State of Virginia, campground. Please read individual site descriptions for specific details for the sites. Not all sites are the same. There is also info available at our facebook page. We have a Charcoal Grill (includes spatula, tongs and turning fork) available to rent for $10 (fee is for entire length of stay). Come camp on the peaceful banks of the Cowpasture river. This is a great place to come to get away from the noise and just relax. The river depth along the property ranges from a few inches to 6ft. Most sites offer partial shade. Open field area for playing games. Large communal fire pit beside the river. We also have a communal Shelter that has two booth style tables under it. Nearby places of interest including Falling Springs waterfall, Humpback Bridge, Lake Moomaw, Douthat State Park...all within less than an hours drive. Only a few minutes from the closest town, incase you need food, supplies, fuel, etc. Please note that not all cellular providers have service at this location. I know that Verizon does. Pack trash out with you.

had a very disappointing experience at this campground. The site where we stayed for two nights was in a public area with absolutely no privacy. The first night, we could barely sleep because around 9:00 pm someone started mowing the lawn, then people were swimming at 1:00 a.m. Later, someone was setting off fireworks, and loud music. We called the police to report the disturbance, but they never showed up. Because of everything that happened the first night, we decided to leave the following day. We simply couldn’t stay another night after such a bad experience. I asked the host for a refund because of all the issues we encountered, but she only refunded me $40. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. If you’re looking for a quiet, private place to camp and relax, I would NOT recommend staying here.

I had a great time here. The river running through the property did not disappoint. The host was extremely friendly. I only wish it wasn’t raining and I had the opportunity to stay longer than one night. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Our family loved camping at Green Acres. We come to the area every year and hit different spots on the Cowpasture. We are glad that we found Green Acres on Hipcamp. We will absolutely be returning.

What a beautiful camping spot hidden on the banks of the Cowpasture River. We loved it so much that we are staying 2 more nights !!!! Minnie was a wonderful hostess and made us feel right at home on her family’s land. We will definitely be back again ❤️‼️

I loved the natural beauty of the surroundings, the close proximity to the river and swinging bridge, the privacy and friendly, helpful host. On the downside there were bugs-mostly gnats and mosquitos. But, then, that's camping!!

The campsite was beautiful and situated alongside a river which was absolutely lovely and the hosts were welcoming and friendly. There was much less privacy than we prefer though. The campsites were all quite close to one another and the hosts live right there as well.

Green Acres Riverside Camping
I had a wonderful weekend at Pearl’s little piece of paradise. I had site #1 right on the edge of the river, with a nice spot for my tent and a beautiful view of the stars at night. If you bring a kayak as I did, there is a little stairway right next to the site where you can put in, or just carry/drag your kayak about 50 meters to the boat ramp (that surprisingly is actually a road that crosses the river!). The river was glassy smooth and amazingly clear, but whether you paddle upstream or downstream you’ll encounter very shallow spots with fun whitewater where depending on the water level you might have to get out and traverse on foot to paddle on the other side. I will definitely visit again when next I am in the area! And if you visit say hi to Donita for me.

Great riverside camping spot with a really cool swinging bridge. Minnie was very hospitable and fun to talk to. Definitely bring your favorite paddling vessel. The river is nice an calm, great for paddling up and down. We saw several people fishing aswell.

Green Acres Riverside Camping
My wife and I camped at Green Acres and loved it. It is very peaceful. It is also minimal lighting just around the fence by the road, which allows you to see the beautiful night sky. We stayed up late just to look at the millions of stars, which you cannot see in the City. Minnie was super nice and took care of all of our needs. We stayed at site 4 which is right on the river. A couple of times in the night (over 3 days) we could hear the train in the distance, which, for us just added to the country atmosphere. We'll be back!

Beautiful green and well maintained fields. Quiet atmosphere. Slow and peaceful river close by with a suspension bridge. Kind hosts. Really cannot ask for more.

We used our pop up camper at this site and everything was perfect. Their property is well maintained and the view was stunning. There’s a swinging bridge that offers great views of the mountains that surround the property. The host was so kind and accommodating. We will definitely come back!

Such pretty views of Griffith's Knob and a great river for kids or older ages. Can't wait to go back. Put our paddleboard in and explored up river. Loved the pretty rolling banks and the other campers were very nice. We paid for electric hook up for our 19' trailer and were careful w/ water usage.

This site was amazing! Pearl was a phenomenal host and was so nice upon arrival! Get a great night of weather and sleep with no rain fly the stars are beautiful. Also, take a picture at sunset of the peak across the river, stand on the bridge! You won’t regret it!

This location is top tier !! Myself and group of friends decided last minute that we wanted to go camping… on the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend 😅 yeah….., lol. However, well we found this property while googling “ unique places to camp in Virginia” and we hit the jackpot to say the least. The owner was so welcoming! She immediately made everyone feel like we were at home. She and her family helped us get set up, even invited was for board games. All and all, the property and activities you can do were well worth the 4 hour drive we took. It was an oasis that truly took you into another world, all while simply enjoying the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains! This is a must visit property!!
