Mane Gait is conveniently located right off route 81 and can accommodate large rigs. You won't find better views of the blue ridge mountains on this gorgeous working horse farm. We have hiking trails through beautiful private scenery for beginners to advanced hikers. Pets are welcome if leashed! Picnic area on site as well as laundry machine. We are 10 minutes from downtown historic Lexington Virginia that provides great restaurants and lots of history in the charming town of Lexington. Site 2 should be booked for smaller campers around 25 feet. Site 1 is better for larger campers.

Site 1 in front of barn
Great site on horse farm
Great, very quiet site with beautiful views. The site is up against an unused barn, up to 50A electric and drinking water available. The field is mowed. A stroll through the horse center in the evening was very nice with several friendly horses greeting us at their fence to say hello and get a little behind the ear scratch. The only warning about the site is that it is not level, so be sure to bring your leveling ramps. We had a 28 ft. Class A, plenty of space.

I loved camping here! The views were breathtaking- I caught a spectacular sunset AND sunrise over the mountains, visited with the sweet horses- one of whom just couldn't get enough of my pets...and enjoyed the solitude. I will be back when I am in the area again!

Great place to stay!! Loved the views, the horses and the quiet! Extra 30 amp cord in storage box by site #1 was extremely helpful to make it reach! We will definitely add this as an amazing stopover! Thank you!

Thumbs Up
Great place to camp. Easy access to the site. Nice views. Quiet. Horse farm feeling with lots of horses. Other campsite is far enough away that both of us had privacy. Right off the highway. We didn’t mind, but… toilet was a few min walk away and you can hear the highway in the background (I-81). We’d go back for sure.

Only for quick RV stops overnight.
Overall, we did enjoy our time here, but there was a LOT that was not as expected. I'll start by saying the equestrian center has basically nothing to do with the hipcamp other than the owner's daughter (who does not live or work on site) is allowed to list it. The equestrian center owner is a lovely and very helpful man. If you book this site, do not expect the hipcamp "owner" to be communicative or helpful. We only caught the on site owner on our last day, and some of the things we'd asked for help with when we arrived were never addressed because she (the hipcamp person) never told anyone onsite. All 4 trash bins were overflowing when we arrived with trash that had been there for quite some time. They had a bear do some destruction on property the week prior, so this seems like very poor bear management practices. We messaged right after setting up our tent and were told she would "see if she could get someone to empty it" but then never reached out to anyone onsite, per the staff present. As a result, there are ants and flies worse than any campground or farm I have ever stayed at (and we camp full-time). This is why a tent is not appropriate. It would have been better if we had our RV and only looked out the window. Bathroom is a 5 minute walk away, in the furthest barn. Again, not an issue for RVs. I read the reviews about the hill and it's not that bad. Just use common sense when parking. Stunning views. Good location. No shade. No Wifi. Very poor communication.
