235 Acres of Private Mountain Camping | Exclusive Access | Trout Stream | National Forest | Dark Sky When you book River2Ridge, your group has exclusive access to all 235 acres. There are no neighboring campsites, no shared spaces, and no other campers. Hike, explore, move camp throughout your stay, or settle into your favorite spot—the entire mountain is yours to enjoy. This extraordinary property borders over 2,500 acres of George Washington National Forest, providing direct access to hiking while maintaining complete privacy. Explore more than 1,000 feet of elevation change, a half-mile of scenic Cowardin Run, hardwood forests, wildlife habitat, and spectacular western-facing overlooks with sunsets stretching nearly 60 miles across the Allegheny Mountains. At night, enjoy exceptional stargazing. Our property experiences light pollution comparable to nearby International Dark Sky locations, making it an incredible place to view the Milky Way, meteor showers, and thousands of stars. Located only 3 miles from downtown Hot Springs and The Omni Homestead Resort, you'll have easy access to restaurants, golf, horseback riding, fly fishing, spa treatments, and the historic Warm Springs Pools before returning to complete solitude. Please note before booking: Weekday Construction: We are building our future home near the center of the property. During normal business hours (generally Monday-Friday), you may occasionally hear or see construction activity in this central area. Because the property is over 235 acres, there are numerous quiet camping locations well away from the construction zone. Even during construction, only one Hipcamp reservation is accepted at a time, so your group continues to enjoy exclusive access to the property. Occasionally, foresters, environmental specialists, or USDA/Virginia Department of Forestry personnel may visit to monitor the forest or ongoing conservation projects. Visible wildlife trail cameras are used solely to monitor wildlife and property conditions—they are never hidden and are not intended for guest surveillance.This listing includes exclusive access to the entire property rather than a single designated campsite. You're welcome to camp almost anywhere that can be safely accessed and move locations during your stay if you'd like different views or experiences. A centrally located parking area near the home build site provides convenient access for vehicles and trailers. From there, explore miles of private roads and mountain terrain. Road conditions: • Lower road: approximately ½ mile, 7% gravel grade, suitable for most vehicles and trailers. • Upper ridge road: approximately ¾ mile with a 10% average grade and two short 15% sections. High-clearance AWD/4WD is strongly recommended beyond this point. The property offers: • Half-mile of Cowardin Run trout stream • Mountain ridges and overlooks • Forest roads for hiking • Direct access into George Washington National Forest • Outstanding wildlife viewing • Exceptional stargazing Construction Area: The future homesite is located near the center of the property. Construction generally occurs during weekday business hours. Guests are welcome to camp elsewhere on the property to maximize privacy and minimize any construction noise. There are no restroom or potable water facilities. Guests must be fully self-contained, bring a portable toilet system, pack out all waste, and practice Leave No Trace principles. Cell service is intermittent and unreliable throughout the property. Please download maps before arrival and be comfortable camping without dependable communication. Nearby attractions (approximately 3 miles): • Downtown Hot Springs • Omni Homestead Resort • Warm Springs Pools • Grocery store • Restaurants • Fuel We strongly recommend arriving during daylight, especially on your first visit. Once the sun sets, the exceptionally dark skies make navigation significantly more difficult—but create unforgettable nighttime views.

The view and privacy are truly amazing! The road is well maintained. But I didn’t like the campsite, it was a mix of sticky soil and gravel. It is a sharp contrast with the view and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I have two dogs and the walking on sharp rocks wasn’t fun for them, so they stayed inside the entire time. I realize only now that the campesite can be seen on picture 40+ on the post, but I did’t get that far when booking.

Absolutely LOVED this campsite!!! It was the complete seclusion we were looking for while also feeling somewhat safe and secure knowing we could lock the driveway gate behind us on this sprawling property. We saw a bear the moment we pulled in on the drive up to our site. And setting up camp on the peak with the incredible mountain views was unbeatable. The stars at night were INSANE!! Christina was a very helpful host with great local recommendations. Would stay at this property over and over again 10/10

We loved camping here, has to be one of my favorite campsite. We didn’t get any sunsets or see any stars due to the air quality but still had an amazing view of the mountains, surely will come back in the fall!

Came up for a solo camp out on the 4th of July. You have the whole mountain side to yourself. The view is incredible. Plenty of space for a tent, canopy, vehicle, and more. It was definitely one of the best camping experiences I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be back. 4WD with clearance REQUIRED. I would recommend a tarp and/or canopy if it’s sunny. You will be exposed to sunlight in the open. Good thing is you don’t have any tall trees surrounding the campsite to worry about. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯💯💯

We did a weeklong tour of the Appalachia and this was by far my favorite Hipcamp we stayed at. The views alone are all it took. Beautiful sunset. Not to mention the darkest sky I have ever been in with the Milky Way being the only light you will have. Aside from the eastern hill, you have a solid view of the entire night sky. I noted no vehicle or other noises. You are definitely alone in this adventure which is the main reason I use Hipcamp to explore our beautiful country. We spent our 2 days here simply getting lost. It’s a great area to explore the mountains and secluded areas. I’ve stayed at a lot of Hipcamp locations across the country and this has definitely made my top 5 for exclusion and views.

Tent camping on this mountain was absolutely beautiful. Definitely the best view I could have imagined. I watched the sunset and fell asleep watching the stars. Chirping birds and bugs, the sizzle of the fire. It was so worth it and I can't wait to come back and explore more.

Great Trip Despite The Elements

Absolutely stunning view and it is very private. Other than the contractors building a house well below the campsite I never saw a single person. Exactly my kind of camping. Some things to know. Be prepared for wind. You are exposed on top of a ridge. There was a strong breeze every afternoon. Then this morning about 5AM it got crazy when a storm front rolled in. I’ve been in a tent in some very high wind, but nothing like this. I’ve got a great high quality tent and even so I thought one of the poles might snap. Be prepared. This is a good Hipcamp and I would go back. I would however encourage the owners to maybe spruce the actual site up a little. As I said the view is stunning, but the site itself is kind of a moonscape without a stitch of shade to avoid the sun, and it was HOT, unseasonably HOT for April. Did I mention it was HOT? The campsite appears to be the start of a house pad where the owners decided it was just too much effort to build. Maybe plant a couple trees and really make it something special? Just my suggestion. But all things considered it was a great trip and I recommend the property and hope to return!

Primitive tent camping at some of its best! Views and an experience well worth the price. Be sure to bring a vehicle that can tackle some steep gravel roads, our front wheel drive SUV had a little trouble but we were able to get up to the second highest camping spot (momentum is your friend!)

The land is as good as everyone says it is. An AWD car with some clearance and good tires are definitely needed for some of the gravel inclines. My Mazda cx5 did just fine. The sunset view from the cliff site is phenomenal.

The best camping spot in Virginia. The views are breathtaking, amazing dark skies at night and total privacy. Great communication from a lovely host as well. We've stayed twice now in our class b rv. The road is steep but well maintained. Cannot say enough good things about this fabulous property.

This campsite is an incredible mountain getaway. Waking up above the clouds with panoramic views all around felt unforgettable. The scenery is so beautiful that it almost feels like angels could start singing at any moment. At night, the dark skies are breathtaking. You can see the Milky Way, and it makes for some of the best stargazing I've experienced in Pennsylvania It was the perfect weekend spot for my partner and me. Quiet, peaceful, and romantic. We will be back to enjoy the views.
