I stayed right by the river.Super cute place with a clean hot shower. My dog loved to have a swim before we hit the road. Camp Comatose is awesome.

Camp Comatose was an absolute gem! The property had the perfect mix of peace, privacy, and personality—it truly felt like an escape from the noise of everyday life. The campsite was clean, comfortable, and clearly cared for, and the hosts made us feel genuinely welcome. It was the kind of place where you can slow down, breathe, and enjoy the outdoors without feeling crowded or rushed. We left relaxed, refreshed, and already talking about coming back. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable Hipcamp experience, Camp Comatose absolutely delivers. Highly recommended!
Beautiful place by the river with very interesting and friendly hosts. Mike could not have been kinder and more personable are, and the 2 acres are beautiful and very close to the hospitals and downtown area of Charleston. Highly recommend this little oasis!
Camp comatose was great! The bathrooms were clean, the area was quiet and the camper spots were flat. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a sweet spot along the Coal River. Mike is a gracious host and the spot has everything you could ask for including a full bath house. We stayed 2 nights and would come back if traveling the area again.

Our stay was only overnight, but the facilities were pretty remarkable. Mike has put a lot of work into making available the resources for pretty much anyone’s vacation complete. I was very impressed by the outdoor kitchen. Great riverside setting. Mike, thanks for having us.

An awesome retreat by the river. Mike is an extremely welcoming host, he even gave me a tour of the property and garden. Loved cooking dinner overlooking the river! The bathroom and shower are AMAZING, especially after a few weeks using park bathrooms. Would definitely come back again!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Camp Comatose. They have a unique set up where everyone can join in on the fun. It was so relaxing to drink coffee while watching the river.

This is a wonderful camping spot. Very quiet and next to the Coal River. Bathroom was very, very clean. Mike is a very nice host. Would recommend this Hipcamp.

Nice place to stop overnight on our way to Kentucky
Mike has a great place with an easy going vibe! Great electric and water hookups and loved the river!! Thanks for your hospitality for both of our nights!!
Mike's place was perfect for a halfway stop on our trip from North Carolina to Indiana. He met us when we arrived and made sure we got to our hook up spot. He has a great place just off the river!

This is a funky little spot, don't be put off by the drive in. Mike has created a number (5?) of leveled gravel full hook up sites pretty close together, but very nice. Sweet communal fire pit right on a deck overlooking a little river. Fantastic bathroom with running hot water and shower! We would definitely camp here again. Thank you Mike.

The property was very well kept and Mike was very personable and helpful. It is a beautiful location. So peaceful and serene.
A wonderful experience. West Virginia might be almost Heaven, but Mike’s place is Heaven. Do your dog a favor and take them to Camp Comatose. The hospitality is over the top .
It is a little tricky to get to Mike’s place , but worth the challenge .
Property is amazing and Mike is above and beyond accommodating.
Fantastic little shower bathroom…

Hidden gem Mike has at the Camp! Off leash for the dog is a bonus. All the extra amenities CC offer are above and beyond. Big shout out to Charlie for guidance!
Very family oriented! The owner has a few family members with their campers there and everyone is amazing. I forgot propane and they let me use their grill in a heart beat. Owner is very nice and the site has water and full electric hookup. Everyone is really laid back in would highly recommend it here!

We just wrapped up a magical weekend at Camp Comatose and I can’t say enough about the hospitality and vibe of this place! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The grounds are peaceful, well-kept, and full of character—just the kind of place that makes you want to unplug and actually relax.
One of the absolute highlights? The live music. The band was incredible—great energy, great sound, and the kind of performance that pulls everyone together around the fire. It felt like a little music festival tucked into the woods.
And let’s talk food—plenty of delicious options that kept everyone full and happy. Whether you’re a camper, glamper, or just stopping by for an event, you’ll find something to love.
Huge thanks to Mike and Cori for making our stay so memorable. We’ll definitely be back. ✨
