Our 36-acre campground has approximately 2,100 feet of Dry Fork River frontage, with wooded campsites, riverfront gathering spots and year-round stays near Parsons and Monongahela National Forest. CHOOSE YOUR STAY Pitch a tent in the forest, gather at a riverfront campsite, or choose a rustic cabin, the Bohemian Bus Retreat, our wood-stove tipi, or RiverCamp Lodge with its two glamping tents. RV1–RV4 offer electric and seasonal water hookups; RV6–RV10 are primitive RV sites without hookups. The former RV5 location is now RiverCamp Lodge. Riverfront sites have different group limits: RF1 includes eight guests with a maximum of 12; RF2 includes 10 with a maximum of 16; RF3 includes six with a maximum of eight. Early September Update: The river is at its 100% peak best summer quality. Still quite warm and PERFECT for lounging, floating, kayaking and snorkeling (20 ft visibility or better). A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended. We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans 4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events. Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. We are located 10 minutes from the interstate and Winterplace Ski Resort and just 20 minutes from New River Gorge State Park. Corn hole boards, swings, campsite cookers and chairs are provided. Want to see 5 star panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains? This ultra-safe, ultra-private property is located only 10 minutes off interstate 77. There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. Google link, trail map, and campsite location map will be emailed the day before arrival. The onsite Porta John is cleaned every month. Prior to the first family inhabiting this gravel road it was used as a bird sanctuary. To this day, the entire road maintains one of the most diverse displays of Appalachian aviary wildlife. Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

~ Awarded Hipcamp’s Best in State and Finalist: West Virginia, since 2019 ~ The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. If I do not respond soon after your inquiry, it's because I am without reception. If your inquiry expires in 24 hours, I will still get back to you! Thanks in advance for your patience.

We had an amazing stay at this Hipcamp! There are three Hipcamp sites at this property. The parking is shared parking with the two other sites. You will need to walk past the other sites to get to the invisible love house, so you may come into contact with other campers. To get to the invisible love house site, you have to walk up a hill, but a small wagon is provided. It is a little bit of a hike when you are carrying your luggage so if you have trouble walking it might be a problem. While the other two sites share an outdoor common area and are right next to the owners house, the invisible love house is completely private with its own outdoor area, shower, and outhouse bathroom. If you are looking for privacy, I would definitely book this site above the other two. This site has almost everything you need. There is electric with room to plug in multiple items and WiFi. Also, there is a solar light in the cabin, small solar lights outside, and the owner provides some battery laterns. Some items that are included were toilet paper, paper towels, eating utensils, hand sanitizer, coffee, homemade tea, coffee maker, tea pot, aluminum foil, plates, cooking pots, grate for cooking over the fire, sheets, pillows, games, books, salt and pepper, sugar. You really just need to bring your clothes, food, towels, and a pair of potholders. It was very cold during our stay, but the owner provided a nice queen sized electric blanket that kept us very warm. The river access is a little ways down the road. Even though it was cold, we drove down to check it out. It was beautiful and would be lovely to kayak in warmer weather. We would love to visit again!

We stayed at site 5. It was a great first experience with our 3 kids (age: 6,4,2). Site 5 has a little cut though path to the trail and the river, but there is also very easy access on either side of the end sites (1 and/or 11). Greg and his daughter Elise were so sweet, responsive, and very kind hosts. Our kids had an amazing experience playing in the river, walking along the trail, and visiting the cave. What a wonderful property and we will definitely be back for another stay. Great for families and large groups.

Took my brother in law and my 22 month old son camping for the first time ever. This was my first Hipcamp experience and I must say that I loved it. Greg does an amazing job communicating and making sure his guests are comfortable and well accommodated. Being right off the C&O tow path is an added bonus and the little beaches are easily accessible and great for kids. I would highly recommend staying here and I will be returning in the near future.

1 night at Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)

We had a wonderful stay at Casita Of LOVE! Pablo and his wife were very friendly, welcoming, and kind. The place was beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quality time together. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated their hospitality. We would definitely recommend this place to others and would love to come back again!

We’re supposed to stay two nights and ended up staying a third on site #4. Great to hear the water running over the rocks in the creek all night, perfect amount of tree cover and such easy access to the rail trail we will definitely return!

Delightfully peaceful, comfortable, well designed campground. The host provides clear, precise directions and instructions, which are necessary because of the otherwise confusing route to get there--i.e. you physically have to go to the store parking lot to turn around, because of the tight switchback angle of the access road.

Cabin and site were great! Everything as described. PortaPotty was extremely clean. Beautiful easy river access and nice proximity to other locations-Davis, Thomas, Elkins, Blackwater Falls, etc. we would love to come back in summer for the full river experience!

5 nights at River Trail Hollow

We camped late in the season so there were not many other campers around. Not sure how noisy it would be in peak season. Our time was quite quiet. We had two tents and two vehicles which had more than enough space at the site. There was an open area above us where we could really see the stars when it was clear. Other camp sites were not right next to us like in some of the state parks. We enjoyed our evening walk along the river. Most of all we really, really liked the quick access to the Rail-to-Trail. We rode most days enjoying the scenery. There is quite a difference in the standard of the bathrooms and the showers. They are more than adequate but the updates to the bathrooms really stands out. Remember, there is no trash service. Pack it in and out. One thing - please do not smoke in the bathrooms. The smell lingers for days.
