All around 10/10 for the price you are paying. A bed to sleep on, solid roof over your head, and a bathroom with a shower. Can’t complain about that. It’s really close to Hinton and some really neat hiking trails. The host is kind and open.
Only complaint that can be brought up is the railroad that passes right by the property a few times during the night but is nothing more than a minor annoyance. Gotta love trains.
The view and direct river access is to die for. Watching the sunset over the mountains and looking at the river right infront of us was amazing.
Sure it’s a little unconventional. But I fully plan to return and have already recommended this site to others.

I didnt get to use the shack but for less than an hour before the host came knocking on my door. My boyfriend and I were taking a nap, but she invited us to join her and her group going down the river. We had plans of renting a boat (raft) Sunday, which she was aware of, but we briefly discussed it among ourselves, didnt want to be rude to the host, and hesitantly said yes. So we were invited with her group of people, all of whom had inflatable kayaks, paddles, and life jackets. The host tells us she is sticking my bf and I on inflatable tubes, and we will be fine. We were not given any life jackets, and no way to steer the tubes, no paddles. The most riddiculous thing, once we got into the water she was telling us to stay in the middle, then once we struggled to the middle, using our hands to paddle, her and the whole group pulled off to the side of the river to swim and hang out, at a location that was IMPOSSIBLE for us in the tube to get to before passing them by. So we kept going downriver. Well, the worst thing imaginable happened to me. My tube popped going over a larger rapid, and sank completely in less than 10 seconds I got all banged up on the rocks and almost drowned. My bf saved my life.She ruined our vacation, being irresponsible and inviting us to go do something without giving us the proper safety equipment, and making it impossible for us to navigate in the waters. She also said she was up partying till 5 am that very day, hungover.

It was a peaceful stay with the morning fog settled in on the cliffs across the river. The sound of the water flowing was beyond relaxing. She was quick to respond and offer answers on things. Definitely looking at a stay again next time we aim to be in the area again.

The post is very misleading. What you don’t realize is that you are driving through a semi sketchy street and pull up to what looks to me an uncared for/abandoned home with several other homes surrounding it. There are security cameras EVERYWHERE. It feels like you have ZERO privacy. I felt very uncomfortable staying here and I wasn’t even alone. I would have packed up and left if there were other places available but being in the area for a festival left little vacancy anywhere for a decent price. I had asked the host prior to booking if this was in the backyard of a home and they said no it was a shed used for storage. I feel very mislead by this. I would NEVER have booked this site if I had known there was absolutely zero privacy and it was in the middle of a residential road.
Also bring headphones/earplugs there is a train that constantly drives through.
The host showed up randomly at 9pm. We were not notified ahead of time that she was going to drop by. I had to ask where the bathroom was since it was not told ahead of time.

It was a gorgeous spot with a beautiful view of the river, the shack was quiet and very warm inside with the heater they had running. I can definitely say I was not cold while sleeping. My biggest complaint was the bugs but it’s the outdoors, what are you gonna do about bugs? All in all I had a nice time and it was a lovely spot.

Hinton is a hidden gem, and this spot is the perfect place to take in the area's natural beauty. The shack is surprisingly cozy and has everything you'd need, and its location close to Hinton and Bluestone State Park make it a great jumping off point for all the region has to offer. Highly recommend.

The views at this location were lovely. It was also extremely close to the New River Gorge NP, which was our destination. We also appreciated having access to a toilet, shower, and electricity.

The shack was what is expected. The set up is odd and a little confusing and had other guests set up tent very clise to the shack making the outside space unavailable to us.

Teeya is a friendly and attentive host. The shack was comfy. The detached full bathroom was convenient. Parking was close to the two buildings. And the mountain view was gorgeous! Already thinking about my next stay.

The host called at 5:45 pm the day we were supposed to arrive to say she hadn’t mowed the grass. It was definitely long. There are quite a few cameras on the property. I understand it helps the owner see what’s going on, but it felt a little off putting. If I was staying here alone, I would have left and found somewhere else to pitch my tent. The views were really great though.

My stay at New River was very peaceful & quiet. It’s a no frills little shack with a cot but it was a nice stay if your not looking for anything fancy. I think there could be a few amenities added easily that would improve the experience but it looks like they are starting some renovations. The location is wonderful if your planning to head to nearby parks & new river gorge national park. Teeya was very responsive and informative. Overall I felt safe & happy there.

The only thing that would make it much better is the addition of a picnic table.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for about a week. Teeya was such a great host! She was friendly and communicated well. She went above and beyond to accommodate to our needs!
Mr. Buster’s shack is great for those who wants a “home base” while staying in the area. It’s not huge, but is the perfect size for a temporary stay. It has AC and a heater to make it comfortable. It fits 3 comfortably for couples or a smaller family. It’s one of the cheaper ones I found and it includes a working toilet and shower which is located in the “tiny house” close to the shack.
The view is great - It’s right on the New River Gorge! It’s close to Sandstone Falls and the town of Hinton. If you need food, fire, ice, gas, etc. you’re only about 10-15minutes away from a Kroger and other stores like Dollar General or Family Dollar.
To get to many of the hikes in the National Park it will take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on where you want to go, with the exception of Sandstone Falls which is about 15 minutes away.
Just a note: You may have neighbors tenting by you - so you’ll have to share the bathroom and campfire. If you don’t mind sharing and enjoy meeting others, this is great! We chatted with the other guests and had a great time!
Overall, we had a great stay in Mr. Buster’s Shack with Teeya as our host and would recommend checking it out if you need a place in the area!

Very cheap accommodation that has ac and heat!
You have cots to sleep in. Literally next to the river. Has shared bathroom and shower with hot waters as well, still on going renovation though, but it works well. The host is welcoming and we did not have any problems at all. Few minutes to gas stations, groceries, some restaurants and fast food chains. Our only problem is the train that passess approx. Every 2 - 3 hours that has a loud horn that is loud enough to wake you up. My wife was bothered by it, but I'm not. Probably depends on your tolerance to noise. Overall, satisfied camper here!

"Mr. Busters" New River Shack
I stayed at Mr busters shack with my best friend and our combined four children. Teeya was amazing, the location was amazing (close proximity to all of the new river gorge welcome centers and quite literally on the new river), and it exceeded all of my expectations! Would be perfect for anyone who is visiting West Virginia :)

Teeya’s place is in a great location for New River Gorge NP and Pipestem State Park. It’s clean and well-maintained and clean. Teeya is a great host and very knowledgeable about the entire area. I recommend it.

What a beautiful place to camp! We were able to set up right along the river and had access to the pier so that we could sit by the water.
The cottage was in the middle of being renovated while we were there, so now we can't wait to come back and see it once it's all done!

Love love loved the host. Also you are right on the river bank. Great for bird watching and catching some lightning bugs when chilling at the campsite. Across the river is sandstone falls of new river gorge national park. Would stay here time and time again

My partner and I felt very welcome at this rustic microcabin on the New River. There is a strong shared communal vibe at the property and we made fast friends with Teeya and her visitors. As of our visit (May 2023) there are some exciting ongoing renovation projects in the shared spaces but they did not impede our stay. This was a great basecamp for exploring the different entry points of NRG (all park activities were within 15-60 minutes by car). The air-conditioning kept us cool at night and the cots were surprisingly comfortable.

I really liked this spot a lot, given that it had all of the basic necessities - a comfortable cot (there were more options for more people, such as an extra cot and couch for people who are not doing a solo trip like I did), numerous outlets for charging small devices, lots of board games, and a super great view of the New River (quite literally the site is next to the river, which is amazing to see and witness). Would highly recommend this place for two main reasons - its closeness to New River Gorge National Park (as well as the added option of having the host guide you, since the host is a tour guide and well-versed in the National Park) and Downtown Hinton, WV. Although West Virginia as a whole was absolutely bizarre (their slogan is "Wild and Wonderful", and in my opinion, they only got it half right - I'll let you determine which half is correct), Hinton is truly a gem of a place, with great food, amazing people and a vibrant community. Cell signal was not the best at this site, but was OK in Downtown areas of Hinton. Also got a splinter on the first day at this site, so would recommend socks when walking around in the shack. However, overall, great place to sleep, great amenities (bathrooms and such) and wonderful/kind and caring host.

The "Mr. Buster" shack hosted by Teeya was a great way to break up 4 straight days of camping in the rain. Cot was very comfortable and plenty of good firewood available for having a bonfire. Bathroom available in the 2 story tiny home is still under renovation but usable for sink and toilet. For meals plan to bring your own means of cooking, something microwaveable, or something you can cook over the fire. Note that verizon only gets ~1 bar of service here, enough for texts and calls but no media.
Overall, a great value for someone looking to have a break day from campsites!

Teeya is an amazing host. I can't say enough positive things about her spot and her hospitality. I enjoyed hanging out with her and her friends and loved the good vibes surrounding her site. Everything was easily accessible and her site was well maintained. Was a pleasure to stay here and I will be coming back when the water is warmer.

Teeya has a beautiful spot by the river. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor camping spot as we had hoped. We rolled in after some bad storms hit the area, and rain and snow were coming. Thankfully, Teeya was amazing at communicating. And let us switch to the shack that she also has available. It was so amazing, and a great end to our long trip that turned cold at the end. The shack is cozy and has such cozy cots, and a few games. My son was so excited to teach us chess. I’m really hoping to get back and camp on the river bank as planned and finish the trails we didn’t get to. I recommend her beautiful views!

My friend and I took a birthday girls’ trip to WV for the weekend to check out New River Gorge National Park and the surrounding area.
Teeya’s place down by the river provided all of the amenities needed - a heated room with cots perfect for getting cozy after a long day of hiking or for hanging out and playing Uno/other card games, and an extra room with another cot, microwave, and storage space so the sleeping area didn’t feel cramped. The drive to the surrounding major areas were fairly close by and it never felt like we were “out of the way” from things. Really a perfect spot! We ended our last night there by having a campfire by the river - talk about peaceful! Teeya was very welcoming and accommodating. My friend and I would highly recommend staying with Teeya if you’re looking for a place!
