Update for late May-June: The river level has dropped nicely, and it is officially swimming season!!! Also, the first fireflies have been spotted and within a week or two their numbers at camp in the evenings will be Biblical.
A few details about our sites in the general camping area (sites 1-11): Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10&11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6&7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Experience the beauty of this historic property featuring a mix of woodland, grassy hilltops, and clover filled bottomlands. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. I will credit unused wood with a nominal restocking fee.

There are 300+ acres of public land less than one mile away with miles of ATV and hiking trails and stocked ponds. If you're a fan of waterfalls just 4 miles down river is Arden Falls, one of our areas best kept secrets. The Tygart Valley River is one of the top kayaking rivers in the country. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata.

We are located 10 minutes from the interstate and Winterplace Ski Resort and just 20 minutes from New River Gorge State Park. Corn hole boards, swings, campsite cookers and chairs are provided.
Want to see 5 star panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains? This ultra-safe, ultra-private property is located only 10 minutes off interstate 77. There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road.
We are also close to several state parks.
- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

- Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

My wife & I went tent camping on Greg's property & had a great time. The first night we had loud party neighbors but Greg was extremely flexible, both asking them to quiet and offering to have us change sites. He also has quiet time beginning at 10:30 which we did not know, that was also nice. The rest of our stay was pleasantly uneventful. There was a great hike nearby that allowed us to get moving and spend more time in nature. Would reccommend!

When searching for a spot for our Cub Scout camping trip, Taylor’s Landing Camping Club stood out. After speaking with Greg the host, who patiently answered all our questions we booked Hilltop 2. The views were spectacular, the site was huge, and easily accommodated 10+ families and all of our vehicles. The bathroom unit was extremely clean, the canopy set up was accommodating with the picnic table, and the fire pit had enough space for us to all sit.
The proximity to the canal was great for hikes, and the caves were awesome to explore.
Most campsites seemed to be booked, but we had plenty of privacy and barely saw any other campers. Noise was not a concern either.
The river was swollen so swimming wasn’t an option, but I can see it being fantastic in this stretch of the river.
10/10 recommended 100% chance we’ll be back.

Group trip
My friends and I camped on Greg’s property, and we had a blast! The site was right to the C&O trail which provided for beautiful morning walks. Not only so, Greg was an incredible and attentive host—he swung by every day to make sure we had everything we needed, and even set up a volleyball net for us. The best part of our weekend were the camp cats that roamed around, one of them even brought us a gift!

Camping at the Hilltop Sunrise was awesome! This spot is close to the road which is great for access and phone service! Traffic wasn’t too noisy at night. The host, John, is incredibly welcoming and helpful. John made sure all facilites were working and showed me a cute little frog that was hanging out by the laundry. The hot shower is a major perk of this spot. I camped in my car and used the platform to hang out in my camp chair and do some yoga. I definitely recommend staying here!

We had a great time tent camping here! Ended up a bit cloudy due to rain, which just means we’ll need to come back again soon. The site was perfectly private and met our needs. We ended up needing to leave a day early, but we could’ve enjoyed several more days here. Highly recommend booking a stay.

We tent camped here through a huge rainstorm, our site remained dry. The creek next to it never got up to where we were concerned about it getting into our site. The restrooms were exceptionally clean, well lit, and well stocked. The showers were great! The best outdoor showers I’ve used in a campground by far. Access was very easy, the campground feel is very private and secluded although it’s close to so much activity along the Greenbrier river. Other sites in the campground are not to close, you can have conversations at a normal speaking volume and never be heard. Most if not all sites are well shaded. Grass is mown for your site and a picnic table and fire ring is also at each site. This was an absolute dream of a campground 10/10 would go back anytime! Also the owner would come through every couple of days asking for feedback or things we may think needed improvement. Extremely friendly and welcoming!

Rainy and somewhat unseasonably cold weekend, but the site itself is excellent. Beautiful river, great mix of trees and grass, clean bathhouse complete with warm showers, dry pavilion with a ping pong table and space to hang out, lots of dry firewood and local beer available at the camp store. Andrey's a friendly host and helped us have a great weekend. Would recommend and look forward to camping again in the future.

Secret Spot was perfect for our camping trip. This was my second time staying here (first time with the whole family). The property offers great peace and quite along with ample space for kids to explore. Its within easy driving distance to the parks further north. Kroger in town had everything we needed.

We loved staying at Greg's land. He was very accommodating for us in the situation we were in with the weather and helping us stay as dry as we could with all the rain from the weekend storms. The area is absolutely beautiful with plenty of things to do around the camping area. Greg was very good at checking up on us and making sure that we had everything we needed to make the time we stayed there a success. I would gladly stay here again and will be recommending it to others in the future.

We loved this space! Plenty of place for a couple of tents. Super loved the tarp above the picnic table and firewood onsite! The creek was beautiful. We saw a deer in the morning! Area was nice and tucked away. Host was an incredible communicator too! We heard some road traffic at night just FYI. Only 5 mins from Canyon Rim visitors center!

Weekend Trip to Hilltop Sunrise Camping and RV Site
The bunkie cabin at Hilltop Sunrise has genuinely been one of my favorite places I’ve stayed. The bunkie was homey and had all the necessities for our stay. It was the perfect mix of camping and comfort. Our host, John, was beyond kind, gave great recommendations for the area, and answered any questions we had promptly. I am already thinking of my next trip to WV and will absolutely stay at Hilltop Sunrise again!

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms
We had a really great time! We lounged on the dock during the day, dipping in the lake when it got too hot and hung out by the fire pit at night. The land is beautiful and a few baby cows stopped by our site one morning! Amber was responsive to our needs and very friendly. The cabin covers the basics and we supplemented with a few camping extras. We’re already talking about coming back.
