Note in planning your trip: we are blessed to be immersed in all aspects of Wisconsin culture, and that includes an occassional gun shoot! The nearby Amery Sportsmans Club has regular skeet shooting hours just twice per week, Sundays 11-2pm, and Tuesdays 5-8 pm. It can be quite noisy for an otherwise blissful environment! Tuesday bookings are therefore 1/2 off, and please keep this in mind should you want to extend your stay into Sunday afternoons during the warm seasons.

Spend some cozy downtime enjoying a fire and the peacefulness of 4 acre lake property. Take a hot shower and sleep in a comfortable bed- all for less than a hotel room! It’s like glamping. **We do require a photo of a valid government ID from all members of your party, immediately after booking. The host will tell you how to send this. If not received within the specified time frame, your booking will be cancelled and you will not receive check in information. This property: Cozy lakeside cottage that sleeps two, with level lawn space nearby that will fit two additional tents in your group. Dedicated private space is in lower level backyard with access to dock* (*May -September), lake and wildlife wetlands with boardwalk. You'll see the setting sun from the end of the dock and have access to a paver patio firepit. Private 3/4 bath and comfortable TV room is 60 steps away in the house. Mostly private spaces with some shared spaces such as driveway, hallways, sometimes we cross paths in the yard. Mystic Lake Casino, Canterbury Downs, renaissance fest, Valleyfair, & many other area lakes besides the 600 acre all sports lake that the property is located on are in the immediate area. For location purposes, we are located 3.7 miles of the Prior Lake, MN McDonald's. The basic price of $80 per night includes up to two campers inside or outside of the  cottage,  but up to two additional campers and tents can be added to the reservation for $20 per person/ per night.  A limit of two persons inside of the cottage and four persons total are allowed per reservation. All persons must be declared ahead of reserving the space and ID’d for insurance purposes. Please note that all persons on the reservation must submit a copy of their valid picture government ID to the host (via platform) prior to arrival (but after booking), and sign a property liability waiver upon check in.   The host will discuss the procedure with you as HC supports pictures only after booking.  Please ask prior to booking if you have any questions about this- this is a requirement of our short term rental insurance, and part of our self check in procedure. This was exactly what I was looking for. The property (and expected experience) is accurately described. The property, including the cottage/camping area is bordered by trees and brush on two sides and the lake (with a dense growth of cattails) on the third. Even though cottage/camping area is technically a spacious "backyard" I did feel like I was camping. The "cottage" is pretty much the size of an Expedition tent. I stayed for five nights. I precooked my meals and home intending to heat them over the fire but ended using the microwave instead. For this time year (late October) this is good option. If the weather gets nasty (too cold or even snow) the "cottage" is a wonderful backup.

Terrific location, quiet and set away from any neighbors. Gentle slope ensures even recent rains drain off reasonably well. Beautiful fall colors, short hike down to the river & bluffs with great wading for our visit. Even the toilet facilities were clean, well kept, and better than expected (though bring a lantern to keep in there as it gets a bit dark).

We loved our camping trip at Eric’s Bluff Hollow Camp. The site is a tranquil GEM nestled underneath scenic bluffs at a sharp turn of the Root River. Everything is clean and well-maintained, and Eric is a responsive and affable host. I have been scouting for private campsites near trout streams and this IS the place! We are looking forward to returning next spring!

Went tent camping here and it was worth every dollar. Quiet, private, and absolutely beautiful scenery. The property owner is generous, communicative, and maintains the land very well. Cleanest outhouse I've ever seen!! Lots of deadwood for fires and a nice stream for collecting water to filter.

Such a great retreat from the city! I used the provided kayak for a sunset paddle and the firewood was at site as well. Gorgeous sunset and even better sunrise! Quiet, private, and the view was stunning. I took a bunch of photos to make oil paintings. Bob Ross! Haha The host was so great helping me back out on my tear drop’s maiden voyage. Nice guy! Thanks Adam! Only an hour from TC and plenty of places to stock up for needs along the way. Loved it.

Absolutely gorgeous site. It's huge, you really feel like you have the ENTIRE forest and river to yourself. Me and my dogs had the time of our lives just wandering around. Lots of critters around. I heard coyotes nearby so watch your small dogs!

This was our second stop across the country. I absolutely loved the place and wish I had an opportunity to stay longer. Even though a crazy storm kept me up, almost toppled the tent, and flooded everything it was an amazing experience. Would absolutely go back. 🥰

Weekend Trip to Bluff Hollow Camp on the Root River
Beautiful, extremely private. Trees are just starting to turn and it’s gorgeous. This time I opted not to bring my fishing pole and of course I saw multiple trout in the river. I realized on day 2 of our stay that we booked during deer opener and worried that nearby hunting could provoke my reactive dog, but any shots heard were far away and it wasn’t a problem! The most impressively clean port-a-potty I’ve ever used. Love this site. Eric is great host—clear directions and expectations are appropriately set!

What an amazing and tranquil place. Hicking trails and a river surrounded by bluffs to enjoy. Very clean and well maintained property. Will definitely be coming back hopefully for years to come.

The Bluff Hollow site is extremely peaceful. We were able to camp in the lower area right by the Root river. If there were heavy rains the lower campsite may become somewhat not as pleasant to camp at and impossible with a camper. Eric does mention that in his description of the land. Next time I hope my whole family can join.

Weekend Trip to Bluff Hollow Camp on the Root River
Fabulous as always. Unfortunate that on the way down, the skies opened and there was a monsoon. It was muddy and the mosquitos were brutal. The next day everything was back to normal. Bathroom was clean, fire pit was clean, the beach was great and the bugs weren’t too bad. Host is always very responsive.
