This must be done no later than 24 hours before you plan to burn. Hipcamp will sometimes turn on my fire ban based on data from the National Weather Service. The only way to know the full situation is for me to call Hartsel FD. If you see some expensively outfitted motorcyclists cruise by, they're from the Rawhyde Training Camp up the road so give them a wave!

Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

Natural RV site at 9500 feet within Arrowhead Ranch. Electric (50 amp RV and 2 - 20 amp circuits), water, and septic on site. Enjoy nature on this primitive site. No WiFi provided and Cell Service is not ideal. No unapproved fire pits allowed. No firewood provided. Speed limit in Arrowhead is 20 mph. Arrowhead Mountain Lodge is a mile from the site. The lodge has a small convenience store and an excellent restaurant. In the summers, they offer musical groups on the weekends. Long Term Stays are available in Spring, Summer and early Fall. No winter camping allowed. Other things to note Hwy 867 is a gravel road. All roads within Arrowhead are gravel. Sorry no Fifth Wheels, they do not fit.

Great little serene spot off the highway with sizable camping sites for RV’s and tent camping. We spent a couple of nights here on a little in-state road trip before a festival and we really enjoyed our time here. One of the best parts that I hadn’t even considered was the distance from the highway. Most rv parks in this area are on the river, but that also means on the highway. Pleasant Valley is on the river but tucked away from the highway blocked by a couple of properties which significantly cuts the road noise. It feels like a little piece of paradise when you’re there at your spot on the river with the stars over head. Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area.

28 nights at Pleasant Valley RV Park

Established campgrounds aren’t usually our thing. We typically stay off-grid but we absolutely loved our five-week stay here. The area is beautiful, with mountain views along the river, several seating areas, and plenty of trees for shade. We were also still able to use our Starlink without any issues. The road just beyond the campground entrance was great for running, biking, and walking. The campground itself is very clean and well maintained, and the staff are all incredibly kind and welcoming. They were even nice enough to give us a ride to the Rincon day-use area so we could float the river back to our campsite, which was a ton of fun. The location is excellent being close to Salida and Buena Vista, with Leadville not too much farther away. The outdoor recreation in this area is fantastic. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely come back!

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

This was our second visit to Belinda and Todd’s French Creek Ranch and we will return! They are extremely welcoming and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. The site we stay at with our little teardrop has electricity , water, Adirondack chairs, a propane fire table and stings of lights that provide a great atmosphere. The views of the Collegiate Peaks and wide open fields on the ranch are breathtaking and the walk down to the Arkansas River provides a calming and peaceful place to rest and relax. The bath/ shower house is a welcome benefit after a day of hiking and sightseeing. This is a magical ranch experience for our family and we hope to return every summer. Thank you Belinda and Todd for this great “ Home Away From Home” experience.

We stayed for 4 nights and had everything we needed- electric, water, and sewer hook-ups, plus flush toilets and nice, clean showers just a short walk away. The location was perfect for us because we wanted to see Leadville, Twin Lakes, Independence Pass, and Buena Vista. When our plans had to change because of wildfires in our next location, we were happy that it was available for us to stay an extra night. Thanks Todd & Belinda.

The owners, or the managers were so nice! The site was right in the river. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and even had shampoo and soap with mini cups to dispense as needed if you forgot yours. And clean towels if needed! A great community room with a TV, foosball, ping pong, a few board games, and a cool checkers/chess table. They had fresh filtered water in the kitchen area for anybody to use. They were also 3 propane grills outside for anyone to use. They had a cute little store for the essentials you may have forgotten. A great location just about a mile outside of downtown Salida!

We had an amazing experience at this rv park. All of the staff made us feel at home. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The y organize park activities a couple times a week. The store is stocked like a convenience store which was helpful. The brand new bathroom and shower/laundry building is top notch. Each bathroom is private and they have plenty of new washers and dryers. Thanks for a great stay!!

Peaceful and quiet with amazing views. Property was private as well. Deer hanging out too Tricky getting our 29’ rv in because it’s at a 90 degree angle but smaller RVs would do just fine. Would definitely recommend and Jennifer was great.

Quiet, beautiful, easy, and peaceful! Eric’s spot is a short drive to nearby fly fishing and state parks while also being incredibly quiet and private. The level gravel pad and fire pit were nice amenities! It got quite windy during our stay, but you can’t control the weather.

Our river front site at Pleasant Valley was perhaps the nicest we've ever had at a commercial RV Park. Great location, all the hook-ups we're functional and the staff was nice. We walked under the railroad bridge to the small parallel road to see the stars and also biked to the south to hike up an unmarked slot canyon and check out the historic Howard Cemetery. It's a ways to Salida and Buena Vista but the road is good and the Arkansas Canyon is scenic. Large number of bird species around and we had an active Bluebird nest box right at our site.
