Thousand Peaks Ranch Campground in Hartsel has Scenic Mountains, is a getaway and a home away from home for many users. The campsites are best suited for tents and RV stops. Some of the campsites are close to stunning views and you can sleep every night to the sounds of coyotes and other animals. We are very close to many places where you can find a river to fish, take a walk in nature or take a quick dip in the cold waters. Thousand Peaks Ranch Primitive Campground is a 40-acre site each with a table, fire pit and grill. There is a fee for its use and the stay limit is three weeks. We have well water to supply your shower and are located close to the center of the camp. Thousand Peaks Ranch offers a group campsite with 8 separate group campsites. These sites vary in size: Group sites 1, 2, and 7 ($40/ night) can accommodate between 10 and 25 people per site. Group sites 3-6 ($80/night) can accommodate between 25 and 50 people per site. Group Site 8 ($120/night) accommodates up to 75 people. Each site is equipped with 1 or 2 picnic tables and a Fire Pit. There is a large field area in the center of these sites that can be used for group activities. Please keep in mind that we are a primitive campground. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. Frenchman's creek runs through the ranch which has hay fields, aspens, cottonwoods, pinons, cows, chickens, sheep and pigs. Deer, elk, coyotes and bobcats also wander through. We are 15 minutes from BV, 10 minutes from Clear Creek Reservoir, 20 minutes from Twin Lakes and 30 minutes from Leadville.

We now have 2 sites on 9 acres of peaceful open space with both mountain and forest views. The property has plenty of space to walk and explore and is at the end of the cul-de-sac so it is mostly private and backs to BLM. We have put in electricity with 110 volt, 20 amp, 30 amp RV Plug and a 50 amp RV plug to be used individually. camper outlets on the property and flattened a 20 x 50 ft pad that could be a great spot for a tent or a camper.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Megan & Dan’s RV site. It’s located in an awesome forest — my dog loved being off leash & playing with their dog, Cody. I chose to have an electrical hookup for my Winnebago Ekko and Dan actually hooked it up for me on my arrival. The site was level and easily accessible (even in the snow) to the road that had nearby tracks for Leadville Railroad. Loved the train passing by… also, the downtown has awesome little shops, restaurants with very friendly merchants & locals. Leadville is a cool town with the majestic mountains & trails nearby. So much to do… so little time. Highly recommend a stay here in any season!

Weekend Trip to Thousand Peaks Ranch

My winter campsite was everything I could have asked for! The giant fire pit provided a great hearth to keep warm and fix delicious meals. The sunrise/sunset views from within the circle of mountains was phenomenal. Dan was very responsive and helpful with everything I could have needed. Would recommend this beautiful spot for anyone looking for seclusion and a hidden gem to the mountains

A great close getaway and a few days in paradise. Cute horses and donkeys as well. Best campsite we have been to all year. It’s the total package!

Weekend Trip to Cloud 11: Secluded & Close to Town

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

Weekend Trip to Glen Isle Resort

We had a fantastic experience there the weather was decent and a little bit cold at night if you stay down next to the river you should expect it to be about 10 to 15 degrees colder than the rest of the place because of the water. There were plenty of trees to hang your hammock on and plenty of space to put up a tent you could even go back into a more secluded area that was up against The Rock face back behind trees if you wanted. We had a great time we walked around we got a tour of the lodge which was really cool. And we went to the Sasquatch Outpost and Bailey as well several other places that were open it was really great time. We also went for a hike on the pain gulch trail which was very pretty very good views. I would highly recommend camping at this campground the only downside was the road traffic because of the highway right there could be a little loud at times but it didn't interfere with sleeping or anything else.

This place was beautifully remote, yet accessible enough that we could get there without four-wheel drive. The stars at night were just incredible. Our hosts greeted us when we arrived, and there was a space available just for us at the top of the hill. We would probably have seen other campers, had we not been the only ones. Thanks for a great stay!

Absolutely gorgeous place if you need/want to disconnect and truly enjoy some peace and quiet. The huge fire pit with log seats, hanging grill and picnic table was great and we appreciated the thoughtful wood pieces left behind to use for the campfire. Arthur is super responsive and the views both in the morning and at night were stunning.

Great spot very high up on the mtn so you get really good views from the campsite. Very secluded from other campsites. Very rocky though so be sure to bring sleeping pads if you decide to tent camp. We had a great time up there.

Beautiful property with excellent views! Steve was great at communicating expectations, directions and provided clear information. Outhouse was clean and well stocked. Fire pit with option of wood or propane was really neat, so much so that my husband now wants one in our backyard. We experienced a bit of wind and Steve was helpful and understanding. We recommend leaving the property the same way you enter. We turned on a road thinking it would lead us to the highway (google maps said it was the quickest way to Cottonwood Hot Springs) but it led us astray. Overall happy campers.

This site is absolutely stunning. Super secluded, no one near you, wide open with amazing views. Our dogs had a blast running around the site. Road is a bit bumpy getting in. Definitely arrive during daytime as you could miss the entrance. Because it is in the open, it can get a bit windy. Would definitely recommend this stay if you're looking for off grid seclusion.
