There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.
Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

Thousand Peaks Ranch Campground in Hartsel has Scenic Mountains, is a getaway and a home away from home for many users. The campsites are best suited for tents and RV stops. Some of the campsites are close to stunning views and you can sleep every night to the sounds of coyotes and other animals. We are very close to many places where you can find a river to fish, take a walk in nature or take a quick dip in the cold waters.
Thousand Peaks Ranch Primitive Campground is a 40-acre site each with a table, fire pit and grill. There is a fee for its use and the stay limit is three weeks. We have well water to supply your shower and are located close to the center of the camp.
Thousand Peaks Ranch offers a group campsite with 8 separate group campsites. These sites vary in size:
Group sites 1, 2, and 7 ($40/ night) can accommodate between 10 and 25 people per site.
Group sites 3-6 ($80/night) can accommodate between 25 and 50 people per site.
Group Site 8 ($120/night) accommodates up to 75 people.
Each site is equipped with 1 or 2 picnic tables and a Fire Pit. There is a large field area in the center of these sites that can be used for group activities.
Please keep in mind that we are a primitive campground. We do not have hookups and cannot accommodate electrical needs. As this is a primitive campsite, we allow the use of generators.

The site is in a small ranch pasture along the Bear River near willow, birch, and large cottonwood trees. From the campsite there are views of the Flat Top mountains and ancient volcanic necks. We stayed in the car camping area at Idaho Springs RV Resort & Campground while passing through, and overall had a good experience. The car camping section is essentially a parking-lot style setup, but each space was large enough to comfortably fit a bigger vehicle, and you do have the option to add electric which is nice if you need it. None of the spots are perfectly level, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re car camping or sleeping in your vehicle. That said, the main reason we stopped was to shower and get some rest, and the bathhouse was great; clean, hot showers, and well maintained with a coded door so you feel safer inside. For $30, it worked well for what we needed. It was a safe place to park, sleep, and refresh before getting back on the road. If you’re traveling through the area and need a simple overnight stop with good facilities, it’s a solid option.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Megan & Dan’s RV site. It’s located in an awesome forest — my dog loved being off leash & playing with their dog, Cody. I chose to have an electrical hookup for my Winnebago Ekko and Dan actually hooked it up for me on my arrival. The site was level and easily accessible (even in the snow) to the road that had nearby tracks for Leadville Railroad. Loved the train passing by… also, the downtown has awesome little shops, restaurants with very friendly merchants & locals.
Leadville is a cool town with the majestic mountains & trails nearby.
So much to do… so little time.
Highly recommend a stay here in any season!

It's a small parking lot. Depending on how busy it is you may be on a bit of a slope or you may be able to get one of the level spots. They are normal parking space size so perfect for vans.

This place is an absolute gem. They have everything you could ever need propane, water, dump station, everything appears to be new and everything works. The owners seem to take pride in the place. This is a definite must stop if you're looking for a place to camp.

Stone Yard Distillrey is so chill. A safe comfortable place for RV'rs. The bonus of course is the distillery and its operator. Max is welcoming and the entrepreneur behind this grassroots operation, producing high quality spirits. Do yourself a favor and stop by the tasting room in Gypsum or Glenwood Springs.

Awesome couple of nights! This is just a parking spot…but it was a nice place to park and camp after skiing. The added bonus of having very nice (and clean) showers and restrooms made this a great spot. Highly recommend! I’ll definitely be back!

I almost don’t want to write a review as it feels like a secret spot. If the owners are reading this, keep my prices the same. ;)
I really can’t say enough good things about this place. I’m five months into a year long van life with my wife and two kids. I needed a break from the big city life AND in-laws during the holidays. I just happened to come across this like (as the miners say): follow the quartz line and ride the iron horse.
Anyways, I did struck gold: clean showers and bathrooms, hot water, nice spot in nature, and convenient to both Loveland and Indian Hot Springs. I snowboarded, soaked, and solo van life’d it here. I couldn’t be happier with my 4 days and three nights. :)
