This campground was an okay place to stay for a couple of nights, it had everything we needed and served as a convenient base for visiting Glenwood Hot Springs. If your main goal is to explore the area and enjoy the hot springs, it’s a practical option.

Stone Yard Distillrey is so chill. A safe comfortable place for RV'rs. The bonus of course is the distillery and its operator. Max is welcoming and the entrepreneur behind this grassroots operation, producing high quality spirits. Do yourself a favor and stop by the tasting room in Gypsum or Glenwood Springs.

The property was easy to find and the host was responsive when I had questions. It is located right along the interstate highway, but the noise wasn’t excessive. I would stay here again.

Perfect place to park (as long as you can boondock); super easy access to all of the trail heads along Glenwood Canyon, and easy in and out of Glenwood Springs. Host was super responsive!!

We like that it was close to a walking trail. We enjoyed eating at a restaurant not far away. It was very convenient to I-70. The owner was really nice.

Very strange experience. Upon afternoon-arrival at what looked like a cross between a junk yard, vehicle storage and distillery shipping centre, there was no-one there. No host, no other campers. The timberyard or caryard next door didn’t know anything about Hipcamp. Tried to ring Max a couple of times but no answer. Then rang the distillery in town who somehow did get hold of Max. (Not sure why he didn’t answer for his guests.) Distillery relayed that we should just pull up in front of the unoccupied tasting room. This was just a few metres off the highway. Place didn’t look like in pictures and didn’t feel safe at all. We decided to take off and stay at a LBM campsite just 5 mins down the road. This was cheaper, had proper sites, toilets and river access and, most importantly felt safe.

Max is so flexible and his campsite is SO convenient when traveling this stretch of I-70! It’s a lovely area to stop. The views are beautiful. Yes, you’re near a highway, but what a beautiful place to be beside a highway! The stars are amazing at night. The moonshine during the day is pretty good too — try Max’s Colorado-grown spirits and his hand-crafted cocktails during business hours and your road-weariness will melt away. Even if you’re not up for a drink, spend some time at the cozy bar enjoying Max’s candor and knowledge of the area, and take a bottle home for yourself — or friends.

Stoneyard Distillery was the perfect stop after a long day of travel. We arrived later just before sunset so we did not meet Max, though it was very easy to find our spot. His communication and pictures were super clear so we knew where to park and felt very supported. Thanks Max!

Pretty cool little spot! Great for being close to Glenwood springs. Host was really friendly and they make awesome unique cocktails at the distillery. If you’re just boondocking and need a convenient location this is perfect.

We enjoyed meeting Max and having a drink at the distillery bar. We had plenty of room for our 36ft 5th wheel. You are surrounded by the mountains.

Perfect for self-contained campers. My spot was very level. Slight road noise. Great fly fishing a short drive away on the Eagle and Colorado rivers. The distillery is wonderful and I'm looking forward to future visits to see what concoctions they come up with next!

First of all, there’s nothing awesome about the “Awesome Possum” campground. We confirmed booking and then sent the host messages that he didn’t respond to. Upon arrival at the “stone yard” we realized that it looked more like a huge junkyard than a stone yard. We attempted to check in with the bartender per the hosts instructions but found that the distillery is closed and looks abandoned. There was no one on the property and the host didn’t respond to any of our messages. We were left high and dry with no place to stay as we didn’t see a campground or anyone camping. We ended up driving to Glenwood Springs to get a hotel. We reported this to Hipcamp and the next day we finally received one message (to one of our many messages) from the “host” Max but it was too little too late. WE HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this Hipcamp site. The only positive is that he did refund our money. This campsite needs to be removed from being associated with Hipcamp.

Great place to stop over for the evening on our way to Utah. We enjoyed talking to Max and learning a little about the local area. Also a bonus to be able to buy some vodka! The scenery in the area is beautiful.
