Experience serene seclusion with breathtaking mountain views at our property, perfectly nestled in nature yet just a short walk from town. The property is 8 acres and includes a primary residence. There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system.
We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.
Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

A lovely flat spot alongside our residential garage for a van, small RV, small trailer, teardrop or truck camper. Electric and water. No available bathroom. This option is especially great since van/rv/trailer camping is not allowed on public streets or in public parking lots in the Town of Crested Butte. (Our spot is a great way to avoid the Marshal knocking on your window at 11 PM and asking you to move on. Yes it happens because we know the officers.). This is a great way to be in town and walk or bike everywhere. Trailers must back in and detach.
Gorgeous views, easy dog walks and a recreation path right nearby. Walking distance to downtown Crested Butte. Bikable to some of the best mountain biking in the USA. Available year-round, even in the deep snow. Nordic skiing right outside your door. Public transit nearby so you can get settled and leave your van/camper without all the pack up, unpack, leveling process. Local public transportation is great!
Quiet dog-friendly neighborhood of locals. Sustainable! (Power is photovoltaic solar. 20 Amp. Not so well suited to AC units or electric heat) Trash, compost, recycling and potable water are available on site. Two blocks away is the CB dump station for sewer and non-potable/potable water except in winter months.
A great spot to support evening and late night arrivals to avoid driving all over the backcountry looking for a dispersed spot during busy times. Worry free!
Easy walking distance to the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, Alpenglow concerts (Mondays in summer), Music on the Mountain (Wednesdays in summer), Public House (music venue), wedding venues and other music venues, bars and nightlife.
1/2 a block from the Slate River and paddleboarding put-in. 1 block from Rainbow Park and playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. 2 blocks from the public/ski bus.
Reliable high speed internet. Please note! This is a relatively small site in town, not a spacious farm/acreage type of site or a campground. Gunnison County has a lot of dispersed camping available outside of town so this is ideal for vans and campers that have their own bathroom, who want to camp within town limits and be able to walk/bike everywhere year round.

Tennessee Creek Road typically becomes impassable to wheeled vehicles between Halloween and Thanksgiving and generally remains closed until Memorial Day. Depending on snowfall, this may occur earlier or later in the season.
During times when the road is snow-covered and impassable, guests may access the cabin only by snowshoe, backcountry skis, or snowmobile. A public parking lot, which is plowed and maintained throughout the winter, is available for guest parking before using these alternative methods of access.
🛷 Trail Conditions: About a 2-mile stretch of Tennessee Creek Road is groomed during winter for skiing and snowmobiling up to Forest Road 103. Beyond that point, the road is ungroomed and may have deep powder or snow drifts, making travel more challenging.
🚰 Water: Running water is not available during the winter months, as water storage is winterized. Guests must either bring their own water or melt snow.

Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

This was my first time car camping and it should be called “GLAMPING” because of all of the extra amenities! We loved the gas fire pit and string lights at our site. Having electricity and water at the site helped us stay warm in the car, as we plugged in 2 heated throws. Both Belinda and Todd greeted us separately and provided us with helpful information. We loved interacting with the farm animals, especially the Jacob Sheep and turkeys! The bathhouse was very clean. The shower was especially modern and nice to have during our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much!

No Frills in the Cottonwoods was the perfect mix of remote and convenient. You can see the adorable highland cows, from the site and it’s also a short walk to the bathroom. Belinda introduced us to some animals and gave east instructions for exploring the ranch on foot. We walked down to the river for amazing views! Will definitely return.

This campground was closed in fall 2018. To bad. It was an awesome campground. The forest service didn't make enough money on this campground so they took everything out and even blocked the road in. Now you have to walk to the lake.

My brother and I visited Bogan Flats in July and it was beautiful. Our spot was secluded, right near the river, and large enough for more than one tent. We loved the sound of the river right next to us at night, the access to water for drinking and cooking (don't forget to filter), and the amazing view. We used this site as our place to acclimate (we drove from Missouri) before doing Maroon Bells Loop. It wasn't far from Marble, where you can start the loop and worked perfectly for us.

Camp Hale East Fork Group Site is incredible. Nestled next to a creek, you can hear the running water on one side of the camp, while its large enough to hold 100 people easily. Although the site says "20 vehicles" it can absolutely hold double that, and likely more. We called the Rangers Station and they said they do not charge for more vehicles, so I am not sure why the website says "20 vehicles" but take it from me, you can easily have 40 vehicles. Plenty of room to also spreadout, and although the price tag of $210 is hefty per night, it pays for itself if you have enough people. NOTE: THERE IS NO WATER PROVIDED, though you could boil water from the creek. Additionally, 3 vault toilets total (one on one end, and two on the West end).

Few campsites, but each have plenty of room. There's a nearby river, which to can gross and take a quarter mile hike to the Grottos, a must see (ice caves). It's first come first serve and all Aspen sites are very popular. This one requires a jaunt down a bumpy direct road. We enjoyed the first campsite near the bathrooms, setting up our site next to the Roaring Fork river (folks did fish), and the kids enjoyed climbing the top of the big rock (beware the cliff edge). All sites are great.

This is a great campground- it's really large and has an awesome trail that goes around the lake! If you hike out of the trail by the outhouse/camp host in loop C you'll be taken to a beautiful black sand (sort of) beach that is very secluded!

The first campground on a three-month long road trip, Prospector holds a special place in my heart. Sentimentality aside, this is a great place to camp when you're in the area. It offers epic views of Dillon Reservoir as well as a path down to the water's edge. There are vault toilets in each loop, and each site is equipped with picnic tables and a fire ring. If you absolutely loathe camping in an exposed area, I might recommend setting up shop elsewhere, because the beetle blight has done considerable damage to the tree cover. However, there are still some spots with more privacy than others, just go for a good drive around the four loops to find them. We preferred loop D for it's proximity to the water!

Located at the Half Moon (Tigiwon) Trailhead, this campsite is perfect for hiking Mount of the Holy Cross. The bathrooms are nice and the campsites have a lot of space and distance between them.

If the campgrounds around the Maroon Bells are full, and they likely are, this is the next closest thing. Sites are larger and more spread out so you'll have a little more privacy.

Great campground for easy access to Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness trails. There's not a lot of sites and parking is tight but if you can snag a spot it's worth it. The sound of the stream at night is great white noise. Make sure to use the chicken wire provided to protect your car from porcupines.

Great spot to camp for a night or two. It fills up around the holidays so try to book early if you can. The drive from Denver and around the Fryingpan River is breathtaking. Lots of awesome hikes around the area, too!

My wife and I stayed here in early-June, 2015. I'll have to admit, I was skeptical of staying in a campground with 47 sites; I thought it would be crowded and noisy, but was pleasantly surprised by how much privacy we really had. We stayed in Site #6, and while we definitely didn't feel isolated, we didn't feel crowded, either.
The location is perfect for quick trips into Aspen, but gets you far enough out of the city that it feels wilderness-ish. The campground is surrounded by huge aspen and pine trees, and is far enough away from the road that you don't hear much highway noise. Restrooms are clean and well-maintained.
Rain and snow kept us from doing any hiking, but the drive over Independence Pass is beautiful.

This site isn't heavily forested, and the trees that are there are young. That means noise can travel quite easily between neighboring sites and also the need for extra sunblock or shade in the form of an umbrella or awning may be necessary.
