The site is in a small ranch pasture along the Bear River near willow, birch, and large cottonwood trees. From the campsite there are views of the Flat Top mountains and ancient volcanic necks. Very quiet except for ranch activity and the friendly livestock guardian dogs (who will visit, and they bark to protect the sheep and goats at night) - it's a working ranch and you may have to contend with talkative sheep or dodge the occasional cow pie!

We absolutely loved our stay at Valley of the Bear Ranch and will be back next summer! Our 16 month old loved visiting the animals and the tractors. The camper spot is secluded by the creek with wide open views of nature and a sheep pasture. Barb was a lovely host and took time to show us the land and introduce us to the animals. We bought some of her lamb, beef and eggs to cook onsite and take home with us - it is all delicious. Highly recommended!

This was hands down one of the coolest spots I have stayed at. It was right near the river an has pretty views of the mountains. Not to mention all the lovely animals. This place is hidden gem!! 10/10 would recommend, very peaceful 🐮☮️☀️⛰️

Good place to overnight. I was confused a little when driving in but everything worked out. Road is nearby but not to noisy especially after 9 pm. We didn’t use the fire pit due to a fire ban but the pit looks good.

Amazing spot! Had a great time here. Easy to find and access. Camp spot is right next to a creek, plenty of flat area, surrounded by cute farm animals. Highly recommend if you need a place to stay for the night.

Unbelievable setting and hospitality. The creek and cows serenaded us all night. The fresh eggs and ranch raised beef were terrific. My favorite add on was feeding a baby goat. My husband loved the livestock guardian dog, Jessica who was super sweet with our puppy.

This was my wife and I’s second time at Barbs place, and this time we bright our daughter, son in law, and grandson with dogs up to camp. We knew the kids work love it there and it did not disappoint! Route County had a fire restriction so that’s how it goes these days. We had no fire, but we made memories nonetheless!
100% would recommend this hip camp site and Barb was very helpful and the baby goat feed was pretty epic with our grandson.

We had a delightful time at Valley of the Bear Ranch! The campsite is picturesque, right by the river, surrounded by the sweetest animals and beautiful views all around. We eagerly awaited our nightly visit by the resident guardian dog Jess. Barb has created the most wonderful and welcoming space and we highly recommend!

Like a lot of experiences - as long as you know what you’re getting into and manage your expectations, you will have a pleasant stay.
Much of the “oasis” is a work in progress as things are getting cleaned up. Currently it looks like more of a graveyard than storage area for RVs and autos. But if you can look past that you will enjoy a beautiful view of the lake, purple lupine in the foreground and snow-capped mountains in the background. The entrance and site are hard packed gravel and each site has a small concrete pad. The water line is about 300 feet out, so if there used to be docks or a marina here it was with different water levels. Even though it sits right on the highway, it was very quiet at night and we were usually gone during the day.
Good communication from the host. He’s quick to respond and was flexible when we needed to adjust our travel dates.
The biggest pro is location, location, location. Close to Grand Lake and the west entrance to RMNP. Soak in Hot Sulphur Springs 20 minutes away. Granby and the main grocery store, City Market, is 15 minutes. Lots of boating options nearby.
We look forward to seeing what it looks like the next time we pass through!

A perfect spot to Winter Camp for an excellent weekend of skiing at Steamboat. Our host Taylor was more than accommodating and super helpful for me and the gang. An easy trip to town, in a nice quiet area with amazing open skies. Would definitely recommend to any van, truck, or rooftop tent campers.

Yes! If you are looking for quiet, clean camping with a beautiful lake, trails and plenty of room to fish, I would highly recommend Big Creek Lakes Campground!

We camped at Big Creek Lakes in mid-September of 2019 and 2020. My husband was busy bow hunting elk in the Routtt NF and I was enjoying the beautiful trails on horseback. The lakes are pristine and the campground was fairly empty with maybe 1/3 of the sites in use. Here were a few fishermeni n and out. The sites have some shade and are level. Our trailer was a tight fit (35'). It tended to be windy so no fire but there are rings and tables at each site. We definitely plan to return in 2021! Only negative - the water was turned off so we had to haul lake water by the bucket to our horses in the corrals.

We pulled in late at night so we didn't have a great view of what was around until the morning, and im glad for that because it was breath taking! Surrounding our tent was fields full of brightly colored wildflowers, There was a small patch of fog from the rain that happen right after we had set up our tent but it made the view in the morning that much more spectacular. The campground its self was fairly quite its has restrooms on site (no running water) and you could hear a very minimum amount of noise from the road but only if your listening for it. I highly recommend this campground if your looking to spend a few days in steamboat or even if you just want to wake up somewhere beautiful!

Beautiful campground with wild flower filled meadows. Some sites have trees, others are quite plain. Numerous trails leave the campground with one moderate hike going to the top of Rabbit Ears peak. Overall, an enjoyable campground offering well spaced sites.

Seedhouse has a great location!The campground is located just outside Mt. Zirkel Wildnerness area, and only miles away from Hahn's peak! Unfortunately, due to the beetle infestation and storm, much of the landscape was effected. The campsites do not offer much privacy because of the lack of trees. The area is currently being restored. Site #'s 4, 21-24 offer the most tree coverage. We enjoyed our weekend!

Don't use a GPS. Take Hwy 13 to County Road 11. 73 and 40 are both dead-ends onto private land.
