The camping spot is shaded and secluded with hookups on site, as well as a flush toilet and sink in rustic out house and is about 150 feet from the main house. There are a lot of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and foxes around, and we do our best to respect them!

After traveling the US in our motorhome for almost 5 years my husband Scott and I know the value of a smiling face and a helping hand after a day (or week) of travel. Exploring and experiencing this amazing country, its diversity and incredible people enhanced our lives in so many ways.
In mid 2017 we found out our first grandchild was on the way. Long story short we parked the RV and parked ourselves here in Paonia, CO. In December of that year, we moved onto this amazing property full time and started the long list of fix ups (the list is still long). lol

The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. This is a cute older camping site that would be great for a few days to stay at. It's starting to show it's age, but they still keep everything clean. Bathrooms feature clean toilets, sinks, and showers. The camp host and other employees are very nice and helpful, and that is always a plus. My only issue is that there are a handful of RVs that are being stored and it sort of takes away from the wilderness feeling by being a bit of an eyesore. Overall, I would recommend if you happen to be traveling through or want to spend a weekend in Gunnison.

Oasis was a great spot to camp in our travel trailer. We had a great view of Blue Mesa Reservoir and it is relatively close to Black Canyon. The hosts had a great Memorial day with a cook out on Friday and pancake breakfast on Saturday. OMG the huckleberry pancake yum! We would stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful. The darkest skies you'll find in the area. Wide open field to the east for a beautiful sunrise through the Aspens. Trees are pretty close on the west, which is okay because the road is right there also, but there is not a lot of traffic, I think three trucks and four four side-by-sides went by all day, it is a private community after all. If you walk out into the field you can see North and South pretty good as well. I was there to start gaze so I did not walk around much, but the people that I did see were very nice. I did venture down to evergreen lake, be careful, it gets really, really steep, and there were lots of deer, I think I saw 20 deer in one day.

This was my first time car camping and it should be called “GLAMPING” because of all of the extra amenities! We loved the gas fire pit and string lights at our site. Having electricity and water at the site helped us stay warm in the car, as we plugged in 2 heated throws. Both Belinda and Todd greeted us separately and provided us with helpful information. We loved interacting with the farm animals, especially the Jacob Sheep and turkeys! The bathhouse was very clean. The shower was especially modern and nice to have during our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much!

We had such a wonderful stay at Frenchman Ranch in Buena Vista! Belinda and Todd’s property is absolutely beautiful, everywhere you look feels like a postcard. We found ourselves constantly stopping to take photos of the ranch, the vintage equipment, and of course the cows we got to watch every day.
The animals added so much charm to our experience, handsome George (the pig) kept us company, and the sassy sheep strutted around like they owned the place (and honestly, we loved it). It felt like a true slice of Colorado ranch life.
The location is also perfect, peaceful and scenic, yet just a short drive to downtown Buena Vista, where you can enjoy shops, dining, and the charm of town.
We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and we’re so grateful to Belinda and Todd for sharing their special property with us. Highly recommend!!!
