3 nights at Creekside Chalets

We loved this campsite for its layout and features: trees perfectly spaced for hammocks, good shade, beautiful creek flowing right through, good privacy and separation. The road noise is a factor though, especially with many cars honking at the house right next to the site. Ultimately, I’d stay here again, but wouldn’t recommend it for light sleepers.

5 nights at Darbywoods RV Mountain Lot

Martha’s place is absolutely beautiful! We brought our own grill grate and cooked almost all of our meals over a campfire in the fire pit (without the solo stove) with prior approval. The lot is perfectly shaded by the trees with just a few areas of sunlight shining down throughout the day. No issues at all with mosquitoes. The bonus is the Arrowhead Lodge which is located just down the road (car or bike; kind of far to walk). The lodge has a restaurant with a FANTASTIC beer garden. Next time we will plan all of our afternoons around lounging (and drinking) in the beer garden.

Moose and I had a great time despite the rain and hail. Scott and April are fantastic hosts. Scott helped me get my tent up in the pouring rain. I couldn't get my propane heater to work the first night. So we took it apart and fixed it. Just in case they brought me an electric heater as the nights were quite cold after all the rain. April arranged a group campfire my last night, I loved it. The campground store has everything you need and more. Rest rooms and showers and laundry are very clean and we're convenient to my campsite. I look forward to my next visit.

Weekend Trip to Cumberland High Alpine Campsites!

Absolutely beautiful spot and good level ground for camping. We have a small tear drop trailer, which made a little slow going up the pass from Tincup, but very doable with capable vehicle and trailer. Only knock would be these sites are at the very top of the pass, which leaves a lot of exposure to wind.

Great campsite to base out of. Traci and Chris were wonderful hosts and great to chat with. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept. The sites felt well spaced. The instructions to get there were clear. They noted having solid stakes due to some rocky ground conditions. Traci and Chris clearly put effort into providing in an accurate description. I couldn't ask for more for a car camping site. If I'm ever looking for a site in the area, I'd certainly come back here.

3 nights at Tater's Black Canyon Campground

We had a great experience! Beautiful views from Site 3 and convenient location near the reservoir. The facilities were nice and very clean. Site 3 has limited shade coverage so plan accordingly if you visit during a heat wave!

3 nights at Frenchman's Creek Ranch

This place is super cool. The hosts are awesome, really friendly and helpful. Places to run, ride and fish. Only downside is the spots are close to the highway, but we never heard traffic at night. All the hookups worked great and the sites were nice with gas firepit and Adirondack chairs.

Weekend Trip to Arrowhead Point Camping Resort

Not on the river but had a cute little creek you can sit by. This place was nice little dog park bathrooms were clean! And the host Shelly and Sam were so nice they even gave us some restaurants that they like in town. Sun is on the right side of the camper in this site AND a bit of shade!!!!

Great campsite! Large site with access to bathroom and shower. We really enjoyed our stay having such close access to the north side of black canyon as well as the reservoir. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

1 night at Creekside Chalets

I’m so happy I found Jillian’s creekside camping. The directions were easy to follow and signage made it a breeze to find your correct camping spot. I was early enough to check out all 3 spots and each had its own unique charm. I camped at Ouray in the middle. This was my first time solo camping and being in the middle helped me feel more at ease when booking. However I was the only camper that night but with the cabins and chalets nearby I still felt super comfortable. The log walls between campsites felt like a nice natural bonus had other campers been present - having neighbors close but not really seen or on top of one another. The spot also had a picnic table and plenty of space for my SUV and a tent (multiple vehicles and tents could have fit if needed). And the lower area was perfect for hanging my hammock. This spot is right on the creek and I fell asleep and woke up to the sound of rushing water - no sleep/sound machine needed! I brought a giant container of water so it wasn’t needed, but having the water spigot right there is a big bonus. And the port a potty was very clean, had plenty of TP and hand sanitizer. This spot was perfect for my first time solo camping to help me ease into other spots later that may not have everything that was offered.

2 nights at Zenzen Gardens

Cindie is a kind and gracious host. She has an absolutely gorgeous property in the Northfork Valley with wide open space and Mountain views. Afternoons were in the high 90s during our stay and Cindie kindly offered to let us move our van under a big cottonwood tree on the private part of her property during the heat of the day. Instead, we opted to spend the afternoons in the shade of the veranda admiring her beautiful gardens or in the covered stage area that she uses for live music performances. Fortunately, evenings and mornings are gloriously cool in this area. It was fun to watch a resident deer family grazing right outside our van at dusk. We also enjoyed the wine and charcuterie plate she serves as part of her tasting room business. The wine from a local winery, Alfred Eames, was excellent! We bought a bottle of our favorite, Sangre Del Sol, to take home with us. The only thing that could be a concern would be the condition of the field if it were to rain. The Majestic View field has been plowed in the last year or two, so the soil is pretty loose. There are some morning glories growing in, but if it were to rain, it would become very muddy. Since the property is located in high desert, rain is not typical, but certainly can happen during monsoon season. My guess is, that if it did rain, Cindie would have guests park their rig in the compacted parking lot area.

This camping spot was great! The area is full of drives, hikes, and views. It is close to Black Canyon, and a spot where you can rent ATVs. Water and electric hookups worked great and were readily available. WiFi worked great and was an excellent bonus for the kids. Highly recommend.

Hey all! 1- 6 month rental May-October. Please note: You must book at least 31 days. My space is great for nature lovers! (31 day minimum) It is in the little town of Nathrop, CO. This is one small lot in a larger RV community. There is a 1300 sq foot parking space with full hookups. You are in the valley surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, river, and trails. There is a private river bridge in the community that gives access to hiking trails in Browns Canyon Ntl Monument, fishing, and a river beach. The Arkansas River is a great place to raft. There is also a clubhouse and summer socials. There are hot springs within a 10 min drive. This community is situated between 2 amazing mountain towns. 10 min drive to Buena Vista, and 20 min drive to Salida or Poncha Springs. Trails everywhere including well known mountain biking. There is also climbing nearby. A ton of live music in the area in the summer too. So much fun for you!

It sits at 8500 feet with spectacular views of the Collegiate Peaks, 10 minutes from downtown Main Street, countless hiking trails, and rafting companies! This property backs up to BLM and connects with the Midland bike trail system. This property is unique due to the close proximity to dairy goats, and the ability to tour the farm if you so choose. The camping spot is in a secluded area of the property with easy access parking, and away from the main house. There is a 10-person tent set up near an old loading shed with a queen sized cot, an available metal fire pit, wood, and plenty of space to spread out or pitch additional tents. Plenty of rock outcroppings surround the space to give you your own private retreat. Please note that our road does include passing our neighbor on your way up. Directional rock cairns lead the way to this fun space! Goat tours are available upon request. On occasion the goats free range on the property and may pass by this space. If you want to camp in privacy and enjoy the idea of staying near a working goat farm, with chickens, guinea fowl & a rooster you will likely hear, the ability to quickly get into BLM and hike the many trails then this is place for you!

The farm is walking distance from Paonia. Campers who stay with us with have access to produce from the farm, including eggs, goat milk, and loads of fresh salad greens. The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay.
