Great place to stay. Host was friendly and location was perfect.

Beautiful view! The campsite is directly behind the house as shown in the pics, but was not a problem for us. The host was very friendly. The location is close to town, and we walked to the Coffee Bear every morning to get our day started. Staying at this location was easy and relaxing. Thank you for your hospitality!

5 nights at Darbywoods RV Mountain Lot

Martha’s place is absolutely beautiful! We brought our own grill grate and cooked almost all of our meals over a campfire in the fire pit (without the solo stove) with prior approval. The lot is perfectly shaded by the trees with just a few areas of sunlight shining down throughout the day. No issues at all with mosquitoes. The bonus is the Arrowhead Lodge which is located just down the road (car or bike; kind of far to walk). The lodge has a restaurant with a FANTASTIC beer garden. Next time we will plan all of our afternoons around lounging (and drinking) in the beer garden.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay! Audrey and her husband are incredible people. We felt welcome the moment we pulled onto the property, especially with their 4 legged welcoming committee! Grits is an absolute sweet heart of a pup. Their property has everything you could need for a comfortable overnight or several day stay. Clean and comfortable restroom/ shower facilities, outdoor game/ hosting area with beer shed where you can purchase beers made with hops grown on the grounds. We enjoyed an evening stroll around the farm and the views of the mountains were spectacular as the sun set. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit the Montrose area again!

Easy to book and set up for the night. There are plenty of spots and I like that it is a first come first serve system because I got the site closest to the bathroom/shower house 😁😁 The farm is really cool and if I had time I would have loved a beer tour to understand how things are done here.

Weekend Trip to Tater's Black Canyon Campground

We had such a great time at Tater’s! Directions were easy to follow and we had amazing views from site 2, as well as nice picnic table. We set up our tent and drove down to the west reservoir entrance and went paddle boarding for a couple hours before coming back for the night. Such beautiful night skies, we will absolutely be coming back!

Nice camping spot overlooking Crawford State Reservoir with lots of deer. Lots to explore in the area including the Black Canyon and striking landscapes. The shower house and restrooms are a great feature of the site.

Such a cool space to camp out. We had a hiccup with our reservation, and Audrey and Chris were super understanding and very flexible with us, which made for a great time. Also, talk about that view!!

3 nights at Darbywoods RV Mountain Lot

We really enjoyed our time at this spot. The location was really pretty and quiet. Saw deer wandering around the area every day. The camper setup area is mostly level and there are some blocks laid out that really help compensate for the natural ground slope. No issues with the full hookups provided and it was very convenient to have a wifi since cell coverage wasn't very good at the site. The description about the long back-in driveway was spot on and only took 2 tries to make the turn around the storage shed. Be sure to take the long way to the address, which was a note provided with the directions provided. This will set you up for the driveway.

3 nights at Riverwalk Yurt, luxury on river

Love the campsite and George the host was great. Definitely loved having Big B's within walking distance which when they have live music is like going back in time with all the great characters that are there. The highlight was the lightening bugs. Great time and look forward to coming back.

Audrey’s land was everything we hoped for and more. The wide-open sky and stunning mountain views made for unforgettable stargazing. The vibe was laid-back and welcoming, with friendly people, happy dogs roaming around, and tasty beer made from their own hops! Friday night music was such a fun bonus, peaceful atmosphere without being overwhelming. Clean bathrooms and hot showers made the stay extra comfortable. We can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Spectacular Mountain Getaway

10/10! Terra was an amazing host. We found ourselves in a bind after striking out at multiple dispersed camping sites + all of the pet friendly hotels in town were booked. Luckily, Terra’s place was available VERY last minute and we were able to book it for the night and show up within minutes. Terra wasn’t home, but called to walk us through the directions to the property and to the site. She was very attentive and has a beautiful piece of land.

This was our favorite campsite of our Colorado trip! The view was beautiful and the site was secluded and serene. The new bathhouse was great with flush toilets and a nice shower with hot water. The perfect place to stay after visiting the north rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP.

It’s not everyday that you get to wake up next to where hops are grown to make beer. What a cool place! Audrey and her husband are wonderful hosts! Watch out for the 2 dogs that help run the farm though. You’ll have 2 new 4 legged friends before you know it. They are very sweet and just want love. The showers were hot and the bathrooms on site are very clean. There is a sink behind the bathhouse to wash dishes and refill water bottles. The sky is the limit for this recently opened space. If you enjoy mountain views and cold beer, I’d highly recommend staying here! Whenever we’re back in the area we’ll definitely be back!

The Vestal House RV Sites

The Vestal House Lincoln and Amy Vestal joined the Colorado Cooperative Company in 1900. Lincoln was heavily involved with the company as president, a director, general manager, and superintendent. They made their home on their acreage on Tabeguache Park in anticipation of the irrigation ditch. They eventually sold their property to the Town Improvement Company. The Vestal property was the most scenic and logical area to build the town. Owners throughout include Mary Buckley, Margaret Galley, Lee and Imogene Fagan, and John and Mary Helen deKoevend. Mr. deKoevend had plans to build a restaurant on the property. Halfway through the construction a medical issue forced him to abandon the project. The restaurant remained unfinished. Left was a brick shell. Christopher and Aimee bought the property in 2017 and renovated the property to what it is today. Please enjoy photos from our renovation journey.

The land is surrounded by BLM and near the Uncompahge National Forest. The Dark Sky campsite is also close to the Unaweep/Tabegauche Scenic and Historic Byway. We are about 2 hours from Moab, UT! We go to Moab to get sushi. Come here to get away from it all! The land itself offers incredible mountain views. You park at the tree line with desert Sage brush views to the East, Pinion and Juniper trees with a private canyon and beautiful rock formations to the West. Just North is 45 acres of landlocked BLM public land walking distance from the campsite. Unit 70 for the hunters who know how legendary this area is. Our land has an obstacle course, private paintball/gel blaster/nerf field, seasonal lake, trails, canyon, elevation gains and drops. Pets are encouraged to join you.

A beautiful 40 acre ranch on Hastings Mesa with views of Alder Canyon and Hayden’s Peak. You can hear Alder Creek flowing through the canyon from the comfort of your campsite. Many nearby options for bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the area. Once you pull out the driveway you are a few minutes from Last Dollar Ranch Road (hike, bike, or 4x4) and about a 25 minute drive to Telluride, 30 minutes to Ridgway, and 30 minutes to Norwood. Just outside of Ridgway is Orvis Hot Springs, and more hot springs can be found in Ouray. The property offers access to Alder Creek and our beaver ponds down in the canyon. There are patches of scrub oak and fields with cinquefoil bushes in the camping areas, and as you go down in the canyon there’s aspen groves, blue spruce, and ponderosa pines.
