This is our second stay here and it did not disappoint. We love this space, the tent is cozy, and the location is perfect.

This location was great for being roughly halfway between Black Canyon and Crested Butte. The campsite is beautifully situated in an aspen grove and is well-leveled. When we were there, there was a picnic table, benches, firebox, and “bathroom” tent with a pump toilet and sink. There was also a roomy permanent tent with a double cot and a couple of chairs.
Unfortunately for us, there was standing water in a couple places inside the tent and one of the rugs in there was completely soaked. Thankfully the cot and chairs were dry. Definitely bring your own tent/sleeping system as a backup, just in case.

Such an incredible spot! The leaves were turning and it was the perfect place for peeping. Unexpected, there’s a lodge nearby that serves delicious food. Overall, such a wonderful stay. Would stay here again hands down!

Amazing!! We got there at night, and woke up to an amazing view! My daughter, dogs and I went camping for the first time together. I learned how to chop wood, and the tent kept us dry while it rained. I loved having the cooling box to have a fire and cook food. My 6 year old daughter even learned how to make us s’mores all on her own! She even said she’d loved to go back there sometime, and said, “why wouldn’t I?” On our way out we saw the beautiful fall leaves!

The description about the shower was a little off. There are not showers but solar shower bags but not really a place to do it.
The description on the type of toilet was misleading
I’m also not sure how 5 people would fit in that tent with the cots. I must’ve missed any mention about cots in the description. Either way we still had fun and a pretty neat set up. Bummer about the last minute fire ban, our cabin we rented about 1/2 mile away and the lodge did not have a ban so we were confused.

Though the space itself was nice (not the most private but surrounded by pretty trees and nice view of the stars), I was pretty confused about communication with the host. She gave me a lock box code, which I wasn’t sure what it would be for (a gate, the bathroom, the tent?) There was a lockbox on the shed but the code she provided didn’t work. When I told her that, her response was confusing (something like, “any combination of the numbers should work”). It would’ve been nice to be able to access the provided tent, as it did take up most of the space of the campground. I also did have any service at the site, so wasn’t able to communicate with her about the issues in real time. It has the potential to be a way nicer space with clearer communication and instruction from the host.

Great spot! Lisa is a great and attentive hostess! This spot is not remote in the sense of isolation. It is located right off a private drive with neighbor cabins nearby. This could be a positive or negative, depending on what you are looking for. I enjoyed my week long stay there.

Lisa’s campground was great. Very close to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice private for spot camping.

This place was nice and definitely had its perks. The bed was a lot more comfortable than expected and there was plenty of fire wood on site. We even saw a bear which was really cool! The downside for us was that it wasn’t very private like we were hoping. Your literally feet from a fairly busy road and only a few yards from houses on either side of you. The other draw back was it took days to get in touch with the host. Calls, texts and emails with no response. We have very hectic busy lives and need to be able to schedule things out. Oh well the colors were beautiful and the weather was perfect. We visited in late September.

What a great location! The drive in off the highway was beautiful. We were thrilled to find the teepee tent set up as we had camped in the rain the night before and it gave us an opportunity to dry everything out. The fire pit was a great bonus for a chilly evening. We heard elk bugles at night and had five deer come visit us in the morning.

The site is really well set up and nestled in beautiful aspens. There are homes nearby, but spaced far enough that you feel very private -- much more so than in most campgrounds! We only saw a few people from the site over 3 days, out walking their dogs. It's a great place for your dog to wander off leash. We saw multiple deer right by our campsite and heard coyotes at night. The lodge is a fun diversion with good food.
Note to folks traveling from the east as of Sept 2024: Google maps took us from US-50 to CO 149 to Alpine Road because the middle bridge across the Blue Mesa Res had been closed for construction. This takes you from the far end of Alpine Rd, which is 20 miles of winding dirt road, some of it quite rutted, rocky, and narrow. We did it in an AWD car and it was okay (and beautiful!), but takes about an hour because you have to go slow. It turned out to be unnecessary because the bridge had just opened. Check out the CODOT website for US 50 bridge status before you go. The easy route is US-50 all the way across Blue Mesa Res to Alpine Rd.

I absolutely loved staying at this spot, my family recently stayed a weekend and it has everything you could need. It actually rained each night we were there (like, thunderstorm!) and we stayed so dry and warm both on the tent pad which is slightly elevated as well as in the provided tent. There is a supply closet on site which has extra supplies if needed and was a great place to store a few things to keep them from getting wet. Lisa was a phenomenal host and responded to any questions we had quickly and kindly. The campsite features a tent, bathroom, picnic table, firebox, tent pad, parking spot and supply closet. The firebox was perfect for closing up at the end of the evening and keeping extra firewood dry. Lisa also provided chopped wood which was so helpful! On our trip we visited the Arrowhead Lodge which had live music, drinks and food available, we also went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. My family and I had a great time! Thank you for such a perfect camping spot.

Lisa’s site was an excellent place to stay! She was a very attentive host and checked in halfway through our stay to see if we needed anything brought to the site for us. The amenities were my favorite part! She provided so many things to make the stay enjoyable! The location was nice and a great place to camp with dogs. The last road you are on is gravel for about 7 miles but is very doable if you go slow.
