The site is in a small ranch pasture along the Bear River near willow, birch, and large cottonwood trees. From the campsite there are views of the Flat Top mountains and ancient volcanic necks. Very quiet except for ranch activity and the friendly livestock guardian dogs (who will visit, and they bark to protect the sheep and goats at night) - it's a working ranch and you may have to contend with talkative sheep or dodge the occasional cow pie!

Experience serene seclusion with breathtaking mountain views at our property, perfectly nestled in nature yet just a short walk from town. The property is 8 acres and includes a primary residence. There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system.
We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs.
Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives.
James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison.

The Ute Lodge was homesteaded in the 1930’s by Joe Fox who after leaving the military came west to settle in the White River valley.
Joe was known for his friendliness, hospitality and wild stories.
Today you might find much of the same. From Joe’s day to today it is a place where families come together to get away.
The Ute Lodge is now owned by Karl and Mona Maser who celebrated 20 years of ownership summer of 2019!
All summer our cabins are filled with guests from all over the US as well as international travelers. Wake before dawn to tackle nearby 14ers (Mount Quandary – 18 miles; Mount Sherman – 19 miles), or train at elevation for your next race. We are 2 miles to Pike National Forest. Return from skiing at Breckenridge (25 miles) to your crackling fire and the forest’s deep quiet. Enjoy fly fishing or hiking in the surrounding National Forest.
The property is 4 miles from Hwy 9 on County Road 14. It is paved for the first 2 miles, followed by 2 miles of dirt road beyond the National Forest boundary. Guymard Road may have delayed plowing after a snow and Winter access requires coordination. Expect snowfall from November through May, with major snowfalls averaging 18 inches.

3 acres of land with the Muddy Creek flowing through the property near McClure Pass in Colorado near Aspen, Carbondale, Marble, and Somerset Colorado. Paved road to the bridge, gravel just past the bridge which is where the property begins. Just pull off the road by the power pole (21-242 1/2 pole numbers) on the right side past the bridge after pulling off of hwy 133. Beavers have moved in so lots of water from the dam and wildlife to watch. The neighbors some times put their horses on the place. The electric tape is not live. Just move it to get in to the place.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Megan & Dan’s RV site. It’s located in an awesome forest — my dog loved being off leash & playing with their dog, Cody. I chose to have an electrical hookup for my Winnebago Ekko and Dan actually hooked it up for me on my arrival. The site was level and easily accessible (even in the snow) to the road that had nearby tracks for Leadville Railroad. Loved the train passing by… also, the downtown has awesome little shops, restaurants with very friendly merchants & locals.
Leadville is a cool town with the majestic mountains & trails nearby.
So much to do… so little time.
Highly recommend a stay here in any season!

Stone Yard Distillrey is so chill. A safe comfortable place for RV'rs. The bonus of course is the distillery and its operator. Max is welcoming and the entrepreneur behind this grassroots operation, producing high quality spirits. Do yourself a favor and stop by the tasting room in Gypsum or Glenwood Springs.

I had such a great experience booking with Carrie at Rooted Recovery. I originally had an issue with a cancellation and she immediately stepped in to help me resolve it. She fully refunded my first booking and made it super easy for me to rebook the night at her Sheep Mountain Site.

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

This is a small, no-frills family operation. Power at each site with a water spigot available near the main fire pit. No rigs over 30' due to a sharp bend in the driveway. Beautiful, quiet, and convenient to all the best that the White River National Forest has to offer. We'll be back!

Great spot very high up on the mtn so you get really good views from the campsite. Very secluded from other campsites. Very rocky though so be sure to bring sleeping pads if you decide to tent camp. We had a great time up there.

We absolutely loved our stay at Valley of the Bear Ranch and will be back next summer! Our 16 month old loved visiting the animals and the tractors. The camper spot is secluded by the creek with wide open views of nature and a sheep pasture. Barb was a lovely host and took time to show us the land and introduce us to the animals. We bought some of her lamb, beef and eggs to cook onsite and take home with us - it is all delicious. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for something very remote with full hook ups this is a great place to stay. This is a farm on private property. We were left alone the 3 nights we stayed. If you have scrapes left from a meal, you can feed them to the pigs. We would come back.
