3 nights at The Mojo River Spot in the redwoods

I reserved a stay on Joelle’s land super last minute after a really hard week. She was super accommodating and welcomed me and my little pup within a few hours of booking. I got lucky and had the whole property to myself. I prob could have stayed in a cabin or an extra fancy large tent but opted for my single person on a little cliff overlooking the river. Nature did not disappoint me, I saw bald eagles, a bobcat and even a friendly river otter from my perch in the grass above the bank. If you’re into real camping-like pack it in and out-this is a good spot to tuck in. Sure, there are amenities but the real gem here is keeping it simple and enjoying the diversity of life bursting from every corner. If you’re still enough, you will be rewarded Can’t wait to make my way back and snag the island for myself! Thanks Joelle for being a great host

Weekend Trip to Butterfly Landing🦋🦋🦋

We had a lovely weekend in the green room at Camp Butterfly. We enjoyed sitting on our little deck playing cards, and listening to the turkey and coyotes at night.the bed was comfortable and the room cozy, we loved the hot outdoor shower and fully equipt outdoor kitchen. Location was great to wine taste and go to Mendo. Would love to return sometime soon!

Brenda was absolutely great, very helpful and kind. The beach was amazing, the views from our site were incredible, our dog got to be off leash at the beach! We got to watch the seals on the rocks with their pups! Bathrooms were clean with coin showers! Brenda even cooked us up some muscles and brought them right to our door! We will definitely be back!

We booked this campsite as a respit and a way to regroup after 5 days exploring the redwoods up north. I have to say it exceeded all expectations! I was hoping for a clean shower, but didn't expect a heated bathroom and my favorite soap waiting in the shower. (Bathing Culture). This place was full of little details that were all so carefully thought out, from the shower in a redwood tree to the little ferry lights that magically came on at dusk. We somehow ended up being the only ones in the resort on a thursday night and it was magical waking up with the sun shining down on the dew covered grass. Just a beautiful spot and the highest quality experience. Thanks!

Baby banana slug farm is very very cool, in a gorgeous forest setting. My sister and I stayed a night in the sunshine cabin and it was perfectly cozy, cute, and comfortable. We really enjoyed the kitchen and bath house. We're very appreciative of them allowing pets! I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Weekend Trip to Baby Banana Slug Farm

The host was incredibly welcoming and hospitable. He greeted us with a tour of the property and shared great recommendations for things to do around Albion. We had a relaxing weekend—the cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortably heated. Just steps away were a shared kitchen and bathroom, both well-maintained. I’d definitely recommend the cabins and campgrounds for families, and it’s a bonus that they’re pet-friendly!

Weekend Trip to Huckleberry Haven

This was a quiet little secluded campsite for our truck camper. Easy to navigate, super responsive hosts and clear signage. Would stay again, it was a nice secluded spot above their garden in the forest. It's also super close to Salt Point SP and Kruse Rhododendron State Natural Reserve. There is another site on the property for tent only camping but we didn't even notice til we were leaving. Far better than staying in one of the nearby crowded campgrounds.

Great location and well maintained facilities. Plenty of room and our site was very quiet. Already planning to go back in late Summer.

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Camp

A little slice of relaxation - where the forest meets the sea We came for a camping trip with our pup.. to adventure some nearby trails.. and to escape to the wild. The property was artsy, home and well kept. We had "neighbors" at another site and they were far enough away for it to still feel private. Our dog loved sunbathing on the kitchen deck in the morning. And he thanks you for the dog treat!

Loved tent camping on this site! You can see the lake a bit from this spot. The trees offer shade and there are nice wildflowers in the spring. There is a flat area to place your tent near the large rocks.

We loved our stay. The campsite itself was simple and well-kept with a nice picnic table and a flat space for our tent. The communal resources, however, were exquisite! There is a communal outdoor kitchen with some basics along with another indoor space with a coffee maker and refrigerator. The bathrooms were very clean as well. Not to mention, the outdoor redwood shower was certainly the highlight of our stay! Tim, one of the owners, visited us to check in and was very kind; he takes a lot of pride in this space. We will 100% be coming back!

Water and electricity available. Many forest animals and Ravens living on the property. Your well behaved dog will not require a leash at Raven Haven 1. Sorry, due to the tiny goldfish pond, no dogs at Raven Haven 2, small well behaved dogs on leash is a possibility. Really great for campers wanting to relax in the Redwoods, not so great for loud partying. These are not party camps. It is in the forest so the mostly Redwood canopy provides some protection from the weather. Close to many beaches and parks. Albion is 7 miles south of Mendocino and 15 moles south of Fort Bragg. We are conveniently located off of US 101, therefore there may be some freeway noise, during commute hours especially. It has become like white noise to me, but it is only fair to mention it. We offer full hookups which consists of 50 amp & 110 volt electrical outlets, potable water, sewage dump. We also have a pigtail available (with a refundable deposit) if needed to convert 50 amp to 30 amp. Our sites are located one mile from Healdsburg plaza, the heart of Sonoma County wine country. Our town offers amazing wineries, fantastic restaurants, and quaint shops. It is an excellent place for wine lovers. There is a pre-prohibition winery right across the road called Foppiano. There are many other fabulous wineries are nearby. We are in an excellent location for outdoor adventurers. There are plenty of hiking trails near by as well as bike rental shops for those who enjoy trekking, and even a couple of rafting places right here on the Russian River. We are close to places like Armstrong Woods, Safari West, Getaway Adventures, The Sonoma County Fairgrounds which hosts the Summer Country Concerts among other events, Harmony Festival, Santa Rosa Full Camp; Half Marathons Camp; 5K, Sonoma Zip-line Adventures, and Much More! South Facing Ridge With Views

Surrounded by cooperate timberland, it feels like there are no neighbors! There is not a house in sight but the the ridge views seem to go on forever! - There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house. - Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item. More about the property: I built my home high upon a southern ridge. Watching the river of coastal fog flow in and out below me is one of the most wonderful views to behold! I have 30 acres of land to explore and camp upon in the surrounding redwood forest. 10 miles east are Montgomery Woods redwood preserve with GIANT trees, and a little farther, perhaps a mile is the famous Orr Hot Springs Resort. If you drive a half hour west from my land you will be in the coastal Mendocino village. We are marijuana friendly!! Thus, we have created more of an adult oriented atmosphere. one last note: We recently made separate listings for different sites. See campsite #1 for reviews.Guests love staying here "What a fantastic experience. I arrived to Cosmo’s super late after a long day going up the coast. It was a last minute book that morning, if I remember right - my campsite had fallen through. His directions were spot on, and very kindly he stayed up to take me to my site and help me get set up, even going so far as to light me a fire. His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time.When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable.Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. If I’m ever near Mendocino I will gladly make the trip inland to stay at his property again."

Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. There are also NO wood fires allowed at site #8 as it is under the tree canopy. A propane firepit is provided for your use. You can bring a 5 gallon propane tank from home, or a full one is available for rent on site. We have beef available for purchase from calves raised exclusively on our ranch. This beef is 100% grass fed and finished and never given grain of any kind. We have various cuts available such as steaks, ground, roasts, ribs, or other various specialty cuts. All beef is cut and wrapped by a USDA certified butcher. It is raised in an organic manner from cows that freely roam on the pastures of the coastal hills we call home. Enjoy quiet solitude of one of the most private and quiet places on the Sonoma Coast. Avoid the crowds of Salt Point, with all the basic amenities you expect. Birdwatch, play frisbee golf, hunt for mushrooms, basecamp your hikes, runs or mountain bike rides in Salt Point, or use Huckleberry Haven as the central spot to innumerable road bike rides on empty roads. The choice is yours! Special note: Huckleberry Haven is on the edge of some great wilderness! We have all sorts of wildlife sauntering by, and certainly have for decades. We recommend taking precautions to avoid interacting with curious/hungry wildlife - Don't sleep with your food in the tent, and keep camp tidy! We know there to be black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, skunks and so forth. Mountain Lions tend to avoid us, but you'll want to check on best practices to avoid bear interactions. Welcome to our family land! We now offer 3 options for guests, 5 minutes from the Petrified Forest, and 10 minutes from beautiful Calistoga, mud baths, the restaurant and fun bar scene. I teach at SF State, and maintain hipcamp on my spare time to share an affordable option for travelers coming through our area, who appreciate nature and will respect our land. Our land borders Sonoma and Napa Counties, technically in Calistoga, and we boast gorgeous views and peaceful nature settings. We are a heavy nature camp: bugs, coyotes heard in the distance, etc. With the exception of Coral Cabin (which is full service), this is a "user responsible" site, essentially meaning Shaded Oak and Married Manzanitas are 'leave no trace' sites. I provide garbage bags, you pack your trash and take it to the lower garbage bins when you depart your stay. There are also supplied disinfectant towelettes, sprays and other cleaning supplies for a quick wipe down of surfaces when you leave, and if needed/preferred upon arrival. No cleaning service, no cleaning fee, guests responsible for cleaning up after themselves with supplies provided. If that's OK with you, read on! Thank you! Whaleback Ridge has 3 main sites that overlook “the Whaleback Ridge” to the North, named by my great-great grandparents who settled here 100 years ago. The top of the Whaleback Ridge is seen from the camps on the north-side far edge of our 34-acre property, and is accessible by trails (a hiking map will be sent to you upon booking). The lower, private sites, overlooking this ridgeline through the trees, are called the Shaded Oak and the Married Manzanitas - both are very rustic and outdoorsy. Shaded Oak is the only RV site (unless you rent Coral Cabin which has large flat area just outside), but is limited to shorter trailers with 4wd trucks only, or Class B RVs (see pics). The upper site, the Coral Cabin, shares the hilltop with our main house (there is a quiet, respectful family that lives there - close but private) and shared Hilltop 360 Station. Coral Cabin is the most outfitted, and is the most accessible - but also with an compost toilet outhouse, outdoor shower, sink, etc. The Coral Cabin has the best views, but everyone can also access the views by walking up to the Hilltop 360 Station, which is technically a shared space, but campers will likely have it to themselves. *We have a 14-year old dog at the Hilltop 360 Station! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful"), she lives in the main house with her mom and has a dog door to come and go to everything she needs. She will bark at you at first, but please don't be alarmed - she has never bitten anyone and she makes friends quickly if you call her by name and are friendly. She also loves other dogs - only been aggressive once with a dog larger than her who was aggressive. She might become your best friend, as she is very sweet the second she warms up to you. Overview of Sites (more details in site descriptions): Shaded Oak ($59/night 4ppl, more $10 each), smaller RV accessible**, a prime tent spot, propane fire ring, compost toilet "throne" at your site. Bare bones, comes ready to throw your sleeping bag or put your own sheets and pillows on the full bed (very comfy futon) - or pitch a tent and use the cabin for storage or to chill out - or both with a larger group. Coral Cabin ($109/night +$30 cleaning, up to 2 ppl, more $10 each to pitch tent/RV), drive up to doorway, direct access to Hilltop 360 Station (kitchen, shower, tubs). Cabin has electricity, AC unit, wifi access, TV with Roku, comfy loveseat. Enjoy some interesting books. Bed comes freshly made and there is a cleaning service so no need to tidy up on departure. This is our "glamping" cabin with amazing views and walks, outdoor amenities, compost toilet just outside the cabin, hilltop shower steps away. $30 cleaning fee goes directly to cleaner. Hilltop 360 Station: a shared space (only if there are other campers) has: Outdoor kitchen with stainless countertop, running water, propane grill, electrical outlets, and wifi - access to shed with microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge with freezer, lots of plates/cookware/silverware to use. Games and books! Gas campstove is in the yellow shed attached to outdoor kitchen area. Hammocks in camp station can easily be clipped on to take a load off; second hammock also available in treehouse. And there's a swing to enjoy! Shower/tubs: The on-demand propane heated shower is right in the camp station, guarded by a privacy barrier all around except the lookout over the mountain. If you want a hot tub in either the private smaller tub or larger tub next to it, contact Dan ($10 as 'extra' if desired). Hot water turns on automatically when you turn blue dial at base of water pipe to heater. Compost toilets: there are separate seats for #1 and #2; #1 is PEE ONLY on the LOW SEAT (or blue commode at lower sites) and is over an open pit - don't put used TP here... and #2 is POO only on the HIGH SEAT atop the throne, you can put all TP here, and after your #2 ADD a scoop/layer of MULCH/DRY LEAVES (NOT DIRT) over it to completely cover sight and smell. #1 in lower seats can be covered with a scoop/layer of dirt OR leaves. Again, mulch/leaves should fully cover any sight and smell of your biz after using the thrones. Garbage: Please use the trash bags provided, tie your trash bag, and on departure deposit tied bag in the FARTHEST grey bin from the "5895" mailbox. Recycle can be deposited in the blue bin. Thank you! Other notes: You may need to rinse dishes, etc. before use as dust and spiderwebs accumulate up here. Feel free to use cleaning supplies to evict any daddy-long legs if they bother you. There is even a puppy bath station behind it for your furry friends!The Wack Shack is our outdoor bar and grill, full of fun, colorful lights and signs. There’s plenty of equipment to cook there: appliances, a BBQ, sink, fridge and walk-up bar.We also have several apple trees, a pear tree, and tons of blackberries when in season to share with our guest. Our Veggie Garden will be available next season to enjoy also. We are constantly improving our property so please stay in the finished designated guest areas only until we open up the coming attractions.There are plenty of sites and destinations within minutes from our home too! We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive. The peace, quiet and beauty of nature is the theme at our property. This land is dedicated to the re-sacralization of culture. The spot was an ancient Native American camping area. People have found arrowheads, stone beads and grinding stones on the land. We offer various types of camping sites, as well as a teepee - so please read each listing for specific amenity and location information. We sell firewood on site. The amount and variety of wildlife is astonishing, with bear, deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, Eagles, River otter, salmon and steelhead, with a wide variety of songbirds during migration. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box. Please note that during late summer, creek does not flow on surface but always has swimming holes where the salmon and steelhead wait for Fall rains to carry them down to the Eel river and eventually to the ocean, until they return as adults to spawn again. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Overview

On the coast of Sonoma County, the California community of Sea Ranch is known for its unusual architecture, some of which has been designed by world-famous architects. Perhaps the most interesting attraction in town is the Sea Ranch Chapel, a non-denominational prayer room with colorful stained-glass windows and an asymmetrical roof that resembles a cross between a seashell and a wild mushroom. While some campers simply pass through, there are plenty of camping and lodging options around town, from ranch houses and cabins to tent and RV sites surrounded by beautiful stretches of forest. Even better, most all are within easy reach of area beaches. If you can't find Sea Ranch camping, check out to see what's available in nearby Gualala and Anchor Bay, both only a few minutes' drive from Sea Ranch.
