Gorgeous spot- but not for everyone
When we arrived to Timber Cove every single spot along the bluffs was occupied. A giant pop out camper had taken over 2-3 consecutive spots, including “Bluff #5.” Brenda was out of town and we didn’t feel like getting into it with the folks in our spot. Plus, being a family of four in a small tent, we didn’t want to be crammed between two giant RV’s. This was a bit of a rough start to our stay. Luckily, it got better…
My husband wandered the property a bit and we ended up in a more secluded spot, away from the crowd and with stunning views of the ocean. We enjoyed our stay immensely but the arrival, confusion and realization that we were all packed into what is essentially someone’s private front yard, didn’t feel great.
This is a great spot for the sea kayak/fishing community. A ton of folks camped out at Timber Cove were part of “Fresh and Salty” a kayak fishing social group. I highly recommend the spot we ended up at- the “Peninsula” but not for families of young kids or with wandering animals due to the steep cliff on both sides- a bit nerve wracking.
Loved that there was firewood available. The little cafe/store down the road was lovely and had everything we needed (propane, dish soap, marshmallows, coffee, a toothbrush). Hot showers and flushing toilets always a plus.
I do think it’s too crowded. Tent-only folk's don’t want to be squeezed in by giant RVs. For tent camping, I’d avoid any bluffs. Just stay down by the waterfront or on the peninsula.
