In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Our 220 remote acres are adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta in Northern California.
It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek.
We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip!
No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).
Come and enjoy the views of the river, forest, and wildlife!
This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.
For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s).
If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.

Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like.
One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks.
After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around.
If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish.
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING IF YOU'LL BE SLEEPING IN THE TREEHOUSE.

The Sierra Sol Camp project has been hosting community events and friend gathering for years. We take great pride in extending a warm and welcoming space for all our visitors and extending the invitation to campers was a great next step.
We have listings ranging from yurts to shipping containers, an old water tower converted to a vintage trailer and canvas tents.
We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake.
On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink.
Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

Our family found our new favorite spot! The cabins are so darling, and the grounds are gorgeous. Every detail is so thoughtful. The bathrooms are so clean, and the common kitchen makes camping meals so easy and fun. Even the fire pit was set up for us each night! It was the best location for all of our Mendocino adventures, and such a magical place to return in the evenings. We can not wait to come back!!!

Weekend Trip to ShastaView
We had a great stay here. The cabin is very private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. It is far enough from the neighbors that we could not see anyone nearby, which made the whole experience feel very quiet and secluded.
The cabin itself was cozy and welcoming, and the kitchen was well equipped. There is gas available for cooking, but guests should be aware that the property is completely off-grid with no electricity. The creek water is also very cold, so showering may be a little challenging if you are sensitive to cold water.
The spot with a view of the snowy mountains is about 100–200 meters from the cabin. The grass along the way was quite tall, so the walk took a little longer than expected, but the view and natural setting were worth it.
Gary was very responsive and replied quickly whenever we had questions. The coordinates he provided were extremely accurate, so the property was easy to find.
There are two possible roads to reach the cabin. One may require a vehicle with higher ground clearance, while the other is flatter and suitable for a regular car. We drove a Tesla Model S using the flatter route. It was a little longer and somewhat narrow, but the road surface was smooth, and we had no trouble getting there.
Overall, this is a wonderful place for anyone looking for privacy, nature, and a true off-grid experience. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend it.

We loved staying at the Riverside Retreat and exploring the river with our dogs. The kayaks were so fun and a generous addition to the beach. We stayed in the sheds and they can get warm on summer days so bring a portable fan if you want to help clear out the heat!

We had an incredible stay at Foxfern! We came to celebrate our 13 year anniversary and the start of our 10 and 12 year old's summer vacation. We booked a professional photography session with Victoria and could not have had a better time. We enjoyed meeting the animals and the serenity of the forest surrounding the little cabin. The kids had fun at the beach and the local bookshop (both just a few minutes drive away), making s'mores by the campfire and playing board games in the cozy heat of the little wood stove in the cabin. The space felt peaceful, private and was the perfect way to start summer vacation and our 13th year of marriage!

The property is delightful! We stayed in one of the cabin/tents: the bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the heated blankets and small floor heater provided. The facilities were close by and very clean and nicely designed. And the redwood shower was awesome. Everything you could possibly need for cooking is provided in the outdoor kitchen. It's clear that the property is a labor of love and very well maintained.

Fantastic view! I want to take my family camping for the first time and decided to choose ShastaView. Basically had the place to ourselves, no one was around. The roads are a bit rough but if you follow Gary’s instructions, you’d get to the location just fine. The spot to view the mountain is about 1-2 min walk from the kitchen, but the result was worth it!

Wow! This place is perfect! Forested enough to know that you are peacefully camping in the woods with enough modern convenience to be happy, sanitary and spoiled. (Hot water outdoor shower, private flush toilet, hot water sink, cooking supplies, etc.), The cabin itself is GORGEOUS and beautifully designed. Absolutely loved every minute of it. The owners are as friendly as they come and their property is a dream to stay on. The cabin was very comfortable and the bathrooms were well maintained and convenient. The sound of flowing river and numerous birds was so pleasant and relaxing. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a quick getaway.

Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserve
We had a great time at the Serenity Cabin. It was beautiful and secluded in the woods with everything we needed. We brought a cast iron pan with us to cook outside on the fire which I would recommend to anyone in the future! The bathroom was a short walk across the meadow. The mosquitos were around but once we lit a citronella candle and started a fire they did not bug us at all (haha). We enjoyed activities nearby Nevada City, Scotts Flat Reservoir, and the Yuba River at Edwards Crossing Bridge as well. Adam has created a beautiful property that is very lovely and relaxing.

Weekend Trip to Mill Creek Resort
Such a great spot to explore Lassen and relax! The cabin was perfect, super comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved cooking over the campfire.

This is my second time staying here, in a different cabin. The property is beautiful and Adam is really helpful if anything is needed. Good walking and hiking and close to swimming holes. There is an outhouse + a proper toilet attached to Adam’s house for campers to use.
Would come back!

Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserve
We loved the Geronimo cabin! I went up with my friend and our children and we had a lovely and easy stay. I stayed in a different cabin over Mother’s Day weekend the year before and they upped their cleanliness. The bathrooms have clean towels to use. Decent walks on property with kids. Enjoyed the fire pit, and smelt some very good cooking on the grills from the cabin next door. I was a little nervous it would feel too crowded over Memorial Day weekend, but it was very comfortable.

Where to go
Sierra Nevada
The Sierra Nevada mountain range is where you’ll find granite peaks, ancient sequoia trees, and the world-famous Yosemite National Park. From its towering valley and sprawling backcountry to its curious black bear population, Yosemite constantly engages and excites. Rock climbers take on bouldering and multi-pitch routes, hikers enter the lottery for a chance to scale the cables of Half Dome, and most visitors delight in Yosemite Falls and Mariposa Grove. Further north are Lake Tahoe’s crystal-clear blue and teal waters. Boating, swimming, and paddling are popular Tahoe pastimes, and thanks to numerous hiking trails and a big mountain biking scene, visits can be as action-packed or as relaxing as you want. Classic Tahoe campgrounds like the lakeshore D.L. Bliss State Park are perfect for summer visits, while cozy cabins and glamping sites are ideal for winter getaways and ski trips.
The Cascades
The Cascade Range starts in Northern California and stretches all the way north to British Columbia. Characterized by snowy, pyramid-shaped peaks, volcanic activity, dense pine forests, and the numerous waterfalls that gave the range its name, the Cascades are home to two major NorCal destinations: Lassen Peak in Lassen National Park and Mount Shasta, a glaciated fourteener in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Another highlight of this region is Lava Beds National Monument, where spelunkers explore underground lava tubes before settling into a campsite near the California-Oregon border.
Big Sur
Big Sur is best known for its iconic cliff-hugging Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1), but the real fun comes when you get out of the car to enjoy the area’s hidden beaches and bluffside wildflower blooms. Beach camping in Big Sur is as wild and rugged as it gets on the California Coast, making it extremely popular year-round. We recommend Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park as a starting point, but if you’re unable to secure a campsite months in advance as is required, look for private Hipcamps in the area.
Bay Area
North of San Francisco is California wine country, where the rolling hills of Napa host a variety of camping and glamping getaways for campers to escape the city. You’ll also find beach parks, redwood groves, and vineyards to visit in Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino, also ripe with tent and RV camping. South of San Francisco are the Santa Cruz Mountains, famous for old growth redwoods and deep forest campsites.
