Turn onto Rock Creek Road and travel 8.9 miles to Finnon Lake/Diner on the Left. The campground is behind the Diner.

The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky.
This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station.
The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only. 530-622-1060.

Tucked beneath Cahto Peak in Laytonville, California, sOURce Mountain Camp is a restored 1930s CCC-era forestry camp reborn as a rustic mountain basecamp, creekside retreat, and adventure staging ground.
Only minutes from Highway 101, yet worlds away, camp sits where two mountain creeks meet beneath towering trees and historic mountain roads climbing toward the Mendocino high country.
This is not a crowded campground.

What Makes sOURce Different
sOURce Mountain Camp offers direct access to the historic Cahto Peak mountain road, home of the emerging S2S, Signal to sOURce, Mountain Bike Downhill: four-plus miles of unforgettable descent from the Black Oak Trail gates back to camp.
Mountain bikers, e-bike riders, horseback riders, overlanders, hikers, peak baggers, and creek lovers are welcome. This is real mountain terrain, not a bike park or paved trail. Conditions change with the seasons and the mountain must be respected.
Camp features shaded creekside sites, cold plunge pools, spring-fed mountain water, water troughs for horses and traveling animals, outdoor cooking areas, Fire Pit zones when conditions allow, and the Bridge Cantina gathering area over running water.
Bring your own five-gallon jugs and leave with pristine mountain water. Locals have long known the water here is special, and the same source water has supported decades of premium bokashi and fermentation work produced at camp.
Originally established during the CCC era, this former forestry camp helped support the original route to Cahto Peak and the emergency communications infrastructure still operating above us today. Over the last twenty years, the land has been slowly restored by hand from an abandoned dump site back into a usable mountain refuge.
We are located just 2.3 miles from Laytonville services and fuel, with year-round access for vans, trailers, RV's, and horse trailers. We are also neighbors to Mendocino Magic and close to Hog Farm gatherings, Kate Wolf Festival, and the Lost Coast region.
Come for the ride, the water, the creeks, the horses, the mountain silence, the stars, and the campfire people.

Please note, we are a mom and pop shop with just two of us and our young son running the show. We live on site in a tiny house and use the tasting area as our 'back yard' during off hours. We ask that guests please respect our area and off hours requests. We do not permit live fires or generators.

This park gets its rather self-descriptive name from the six beautiful rivers that flow through its borders, but don’t the name fool you. There is a lot more than just rivers to check out here. More than a million rambling acres of forest take you through foggy and mystical redwood landscapes. Further inland, miles of towering Douglas firs, glacial peaks, and hidden pools just wait to be discovered. Of course, the rivers are the main attraction. You can’t go two feet without tripping over a perfect swimming hole. After your dip, there are plenty of warm rocks to lay out on. Oh, and if the natural beauty doesn’t get you: this was the place where they first spotted Bigfoot. Yeah, the original footage that basically made everyone believe in the hairy bi-ped. Our 220 remote acres are adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta in Northern California.
It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek.
We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip!
No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

On our property like anywhere in the woods there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray.

The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).
Come and enjoy the views of the river, forest, and wildlife!
This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.
For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s).
If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.

I had a great experience!! Kelley was super helpful. She gave me very clear directions, a thermacell to keep the mosquitos away (worked amazingly), and extra blankets when I didn’t bring enough! Bathroom was super clean, and there was a space to store my food. As a solo camper, I felt very safe and comfortable.

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF
Kelley has a cool spot about 40 min from
Downtown Nevada City! We loved the cabin- it was modern, SPOTLESSLY clean, and had everything you could need without extra clutter. We were looking to get out of the city, get into nature and do so with minimal packing of gear on our part. This cabin provided the perfect middle-ground experience for us. The bed was super comfortable, we were able to cook a great meal with the kitchen set up, and we enjoyed the luscious green views from inside the cabin. We also loved that Kelley provided coffee grounds and a pour over set up for guests- this felt generous with coffee prices these days. Kelley was friendly, responsive and helpful- she offered to refill the water when we were out for the day which was appreciated. There was an outdoor shower on site, but it’s closer to the main campers set up and we didn’t end up using it for that reason. Try out Kelleys spot and be sure to get some sun and swimming in at the Yuba River nearby!

Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserve
We had a great time at the Serenity Cabin. It was beautiful and secluded in the woods with everything we needed. We brought a cast iron pan with us to cook outside on the fire which I would recommend to anyone in the future! The bathroom was a short walk across the meadow. The mosquitos were around but once we lit a citronella candle and started a fire they did not bug us at all (haha). We enjoyed activities nearby Nevada City, Scotts Flat Reservoir, and the Yuba River at Edwards Crossing Bridge as well. Adam has created a beautiful property that is very lovely and relaxing.

Wow, Mandala Springs absolutely blew my camping socks right off! I went with my 2.5 year old toddler, just the two of us, and we had a blast! This is a very family oriented campground with a wonderful mix of modern cabins, glamping tents, and normal campsites throughout. We camped in our van and found a nice spot on the side that wasn’t crowded. The amenities were equally great and family oriented, the playground was awesome - big and lots of variety for little ones to bigger kids (less than 10 years old is ideal here), the little pond with boats, the nice swimming pool, and an unexpected but newly opened restaurant with review worthy food! Susan the host and her team were the most incredibly and gracious. And the intentional vibe of no drinking, no smoking, vegetarian only - brought together a diverse and very aligned group of families to enjoy the weekends together. We made several friends in just the 24 hours we were there. Can’t wait to go back with the whole family!

We stayed here from Sunday to Tuesday in mid-May, and it was a fantastic, tranquil getaway. The weather was absolutely perfect with highs in the upper 70s made swimming and paddleboarding amazing, and it cooled down to a crisp low 50s at night. Best of all? No mosquitoes!
The grounds are incredibly well-kept (we literally watched someone spend the entire morning meticulously mowing the grass), and the bathrooms were spotless. We brought our own firewood, but it was nice to see some for sale right by the entrance.
There is a great, clear trail that loops around the entire lake. We spent our time watching people fish, spotting turtles, and birdwatching. We even saw bald eagles perched up in the highest tree! I was bummed I left my discs at home because the disc golf course looked awesome.
It was our puppy Indy’s very first camping trip, and he did amazing. Everyone at the campground was so respectful of the leash laws and quiet hours that it made it incredibly easy for him to follow suit. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

Another incredible stay at Stoney Meadows along the peaceful creek with beautiful days down by the river with all the sweet pups. As always, Scott and Nora and their son Alex were so friendly and was so great to see them to catch up! Always so helpful and accommodating and can’t wait to be back!

We lived staying at the yurt! The property is beautiful, lots of trees, lil creek, and berry bushes ✨ even though we run into some small issues upon arrival, the host was very quick to solve them, which was very appreciated!

My party of 11 campers had a great time visiting Ascension Ranch over the weekend. Hidden Oaks was a beautiful site with some nice meadows that we set up our tents in. It was a short walk (~5 minutes) to the waterline and trail system.
The host was very welcoming and even gave us a ride to help us fill a large jug of water.
We had great weather and were lucky enough to see the stars. Also were blessed to be visited by the campground dog who is a big sweetie.
Looking forward to returning in the future!

Mandala Springs is such a relaxing place. There are plenty of activities if you are itching to move, but also a lot of space to sit quietly and reflect. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the bathrooms were the cleanest that I have ever been in while camping!

We had such an amazing time at camp jade river! The space was perfect for our two dogs to run around and have a blast. The view of the clear blue water is even more breathtaking in person. The site is very close to a ton of public hiking trails in the area (redwood trails are not dog friendly however) and the beach! We can’t wait to come back and have already told all of our friends and family about this little slice of heaven!

It was well shaded with trees, bathroom stayed clean, our camp site was right on the water which was amazing. Our site had an incline but it said that ahead of time on the app. The weather was perfect, the whole camp ground was quiet in mid-May.

We always enjoyed camping at Finnon lake. The site was clean and ready for the you. The scenery and tranquility is the best. Canoing and fishing was fantastic. We caught large mouth bass and bluegills. We already planning for next trip
