We want the redwood grove to demonstrate to our community, with its long history of forestry, that trees can be commercially valuable preserved in their natural state. You are helping us do that by staying in our woods!
We acquired the property in 2015, out-competing a logger who wanted to cut the grove for timber.
Clearing blackberries, rehabilitating outbuildings, remodeling one of the two houses and developing the gardens, greenhouses and orchards occupied a majority of the first two years.
As of 2020 more than 60 work-exchange helpers through WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and HelpX have labored to help develop the property in exchange for room, board and a hands-on education.
We are working towards establishing an organic, bio-dynamic, self-sustaining permaculture farm that will supply up to 80% of our diet and result in excess food to sell or share. One goal is for the farm to be part of a more formal education program for serious interns looking to establish their own permaculture properties.
The property is also an overnight stopover for bicycle tourists traveling down highway 101, typically from Seattle or Vancouver to the Mexican border who find us through the website Warmshowers.

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse
The location was great for exploring the redwoods in the area, and even though it was close to town, we felt secluded when back in the tiny house. It was a really special place to stay in. You could feel the love and effort that went into creating the tiny home.

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse
What a magical spot! The treehouse has been designed with wonderful attention to detail. We enjoyed playing cards at the table, sipped our coffee in relaxing chairs on the upper deck and slept wonderfully! We wished we had longer to enjoy this beautiful place. Great location for exploring redwood state and national forests and surrounding communities.

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse
The site is straight out of a fairy tale and just such a sweet spot tucked away on the property. There are, however, a few things we wish we had known ahead of time that might have made us slightly more prepared for our stay. The weather was, unfortunately, pouring pretty much our whole trip and the treehouse is very loud in the rain. There also isn't really a place to be sheltered besides the dome during the rain. There is a very friendly cat on the property and he likes to come into the dome at night -- just good to know for anyone who might have a cat allergy, we had it closed up as well as we could and the cat still came in during the night. It is also necessary to bring sufficient bedding as a sheet is what is provided within the treehouse. I truly think in different weather conditions we would have loved our stay, but ultimately we opted for one night instead of our original two. The host was very gracious about this and we are so appreciative -- it really is a unique and special spot!

Unique experience!
The place is beautiful and a world of its own. I wished we could just linger there longer on the porches or wandering through the trees.

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse
This was our second time staying at the tree house and we will always love it! The dog and the cat are so friendly and a fun way to be greeted! The treehouse is really beautiful and a fun way to camp right in the Redwoods! Would always recommend for someone looking for a unique camping experience.
