We want the redwood grove to demonstrate to our community, with its long history of forestry, that trees can be commercially valuable preserved in their natural state. You are helping us do that by staying in our woods! We acquired the property in 2015, out-competing a logger who wanted to cut the grove for timber. Clearing blackberries, rehabilitating outbuildings, remodeling one of the two houses and developing the gardens, greenhouses and orchards occupied a majority of the first two years. As of 2020 more than 60 work-exchange helpers through WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and HelpX have labored to help develop the property in exchange for room, board and a hands-on education. We are working towards establishing an organic, bio-dynamic, self-sustaining permaculture farm that will supply up to 80% of our diet and result in excess food to sell or share. One goal is for the farm to be part of a more formal education program for serious interns looking to establish their own permaculture properties. The property is also an overnight stopover for bicycle tourists traveling down highway 101, typically from Seattle or Vancouver to the Mexican border who find us through the website Warmshowers.

Redwood Grove Tent Platform
Tent platform treated me well.
I enjoyed my stay at the tent platform. It was a great basecamp for exploring Jedediah Smith section of Redwoods NP & SP. They have a nice clean composting toilet and a safe feeling gated parking area. Easy access to town and beach parks. I usually like to have my vehicle next to camp, but it wasn’t a big deal to carry my gear to the site. I’d guess it’s about 150 feet from parking to tent platform. Some reviews mentioned barking dogs, which I didn’t see until after I had booked. There was some loud barking between the dog on-site and her neighbor friends. They all quieted down shortly after dark, so it wasn’t a problem. Hosts were friendly and kept mostly to themselves. They gave me a map of the park and I got some good recommendations for activities from a friend who was visiting to drop off some pigs for their farm. Beautiful grounds with redwood forest and charming farm. Great place to stay. Treehouse and tiny house looked pretty nice as well. Thank you Hope & Dave!

Redwood Cathedral Treehouse
The treehouse is so cute! It is well kept, directions are clear, and the owners very kind. It’s not a very long walk from the parking lot, which is perfect for making me feel I had privacy and was in the woods but had other nearby if needed. It was such a fun experience, and though it rained most of my stay, I stayed nice and dry inside, and even utilized the first level shelter for making a quick dinner without getting too wet! Would definitely come again and maybe try for a less rainy day :)

It’s a gorgeous place in the midst of a small redwood enclave. I loved having breakfast on the eating platform with my little backpacking stove.

Awesome experience
My boyfriend and i enjoyed staying here so much, the experience all together was so beautiful, you feel so connected to nature, it's just amazing. We have some solar string lights that made the place cozy even at night time, we highly recommend you to take some sort of camping light because there is no power (which makes it even better). Also we recommend you to take some pillows and sleeping bags it gets chilly at night time. Dave helped us out with a spot to heat up water for our morning coffee which made the whole morning experience so nice. I would definitely stay again. Thank you so much D!

Don't pass this up
Incredible place. It's like staying in a fantasy novel. Cute, cozy, and a cat came and slept with us both nights. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Can’t beat sleeping in a redwood!
This property was well thought out and all-around beautiful! The treehouse itself had tons of character, seemed well-built and is only about 100 yards from the parking spot. The dome itself had a couple comfy sleeping pads, and is open-air, but with an effective bug screen on doorway. The upstairs patio with reclining chairs was bigger than expected from the photos, was perfect the morning coffee spot! Lastly, it seems the treehouse is also home to a very friendly cat named Ranger, who wound up cuddling up with us for the night, which was a perk for us! Would love to stay here again

Defiantly Recommend! So much to do!
My husband and I loved the tree house and didn't want to leave after our two night stay! All the details that went into building the treehouse are wonderful. While there are limited amenities, we knew this going in and had no problems. The gardens, house, outhouse, and land were beautiful. Yes, the outhouse was beautiful with its Starry Sky theme. The forest was far enough from the residence that there were no distracting lights and we were able to enjoy the seclusion of the forest and the smell of fresh air and enjoy the fog rolling in over the trees. The main property was also close enough so you felt safe if something happened. The owners kept to themselves and we were greeted by, I want to say David?, just to show us around the property. Very friendly. They do have a rooster that you can hear in the morning, but we enjoyed that. They do have a dog who is friendly and will greet you. They also have a cat that is adorable and very friendly. I came up from taking a short walk and my husband and the cat we asleep in the chair together. As far as the sights to see, they are endless. If you visit, you have to see Jedediah Smith State Park and then visit the National Park Center in Crescent City. There is also Lake Early and Tolowa lake and dunes. Everything is a very short distance from the treehouse. We went to two restaurants: Seaquake Brewery that has some great cider, beer, and food. The next day we went to The Charter Room in the marina district, ate and watched seals play

Up in the Redwoods
The treehouse was just as described. A truly magical place. We stayed 2 nights and would return. The natural pathways, little touches and craftsmanship were more than expected. Just read the description, believe it and plan accordingly. Cats come and go and neighbor dogs bark loud at night. We brought ear plugs and headphones and slept without problems. Eucalyptus scent solved the cat spray odor. It wasn’t a strong smell but made it very pleasant. Sleeping in a real treehouse is a must for every nature lover. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful example of a redwood grove. Note the massive stump on the way in - it sets the tone to appreciate all the offspring that make up the grove.

Great Location and Magical!
We enjoyed being greeted by the resident cats, Ranger and Scout, one of them led us to the treehouse for a warm welcome. We also got to sample the sweet golden berries and arugula flowers during the farm tour with Chris and the dog Blue. Jedidiah state park is about 10 minutes from the treehouse. Bring pillows and a lantern since the pads inside the treehouse is a couple of inches thick.

Treetop view
My son and I had a great time at the treehouse. The view from the to was amazing. Looking out into the forest was breathtaking. Loved the swing, although the wire was hard to hold onto. Everything was clean and in good shape. Learned a lot about composting. Would gladly come back.

Redwood Grove Tent Platform
Solid tent platform built in a redwoods grove - really beautiful spot! Simple structure that fit our three person tent comfortably. Set in the back of the property near a treehouse and a tiny house but felt pretty private. Lovely woods! Outhouse and dish sink provided as well as fresh water. House cats and puppy were very friendly as were the hosts although they mostly kept to themselves. Designated parking and easy access! Very nice stay overall!

Tree house adventures
The Cathedral Treehouse is a great spot! Beautiful dome structure out on a balcony over the redwood grove. Simple but nice amenities such as clean water an outhouse and dish washing station and designated parking. The hosts mostly kept to themselves but were very friendly - as were their house cats and puppy :) Nice art and gardens on their property as well! There is also a nearby tent platform and tiny house but it felt pretty private. Great experience overall!

We had an enjoyable, comfortable stay in the treehouse! It is stunning to wake up amidst the redwoods. We agree that we heard neighbors’ dogs and roosters but it was manageable with earplugs. It was a great place to stay to check out Redwood National and State Parks.

Beautiful property & accommodations
The tent platform was perfect for us! We didn’t see anyone other than the owner during our stay, he kindly showed us to our spot. We accidentally left an item behind and the owner promptly called us so we could turn around to retrieve it, and we are so grateful! We really appreciated access to the composting toilet and sink to freshen up. The platform was just a short walk from our car and made set up/take down super simple! Overall, the property was beautiful and we will definitely be coming back here on our next trip up the coast!
