The 78-mile stretch of US-101 from Eureka to Crescent City, CA was dubbed “The Redwood Highway” for good reason. The Ramblin’ Redwoods Campground and RV Park is located minutes from Redwood National; State Parks, Redwood National Forest, Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park, Del Norte Coast Redwood State Park,Tolowa Dunes State Park and the wild and scenic Smith River. ** TENTS SITES ARE ALL DRY CAMPING ONLY! The owners were great and the grounds are well laid out and quiet. It's not in town but not in the middle of nowhere either. I had cell reception and was in the Redwoods within 15 minutes. The spots are close together but it wasn't an issue for me. I was gone during the day to explore and back at camp to sleep. Traveling solo as a female can be nerve wracking so it was nice to fall asleep in a safe spot. The showers are hot too and that was definitely a plus!

A Hidden Gem in the Redwoods

We had an amazing experience at this campground! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome. They even gave us complimentary marshmallows, chocolates, and cookies for our campfire, which was such a thoughtful and heartwarming touch. The campground was very clean, especially the restrooms, and you could tell they take great pride in maintaining the property. They also told us that if we needed anything at all, we could simply send them a message, and they would help us right away. Their customer service was outstanding. Camping beneath the beautiful redwood trees was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and very family-friendly. It was wonderful to see the kids playing together while everyone enjoyed the quiet beauty of nature. We truly felt connected to nature while still having all the comfort and cleanliness we needed. We highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a peaceful, clean, and welcoming place to stay. We will definitely be back! 🌲🏕️

This really is an RV campground, with sites not being particularly private, lots of prior around, and the campsites probably better suited for RVs than tents. That being said, it was in a convenient location when travelling along the 101, the showers were nice and warm and they also offered laundry services! Very convenient indeed

Beautiful campsite with lots of space hot showers and a cute little park for the kiddos. There is an alarm that can possibly go on by the fort dick fire station and unfortunately it did go off at 3 AM for about 30 seconds which startled me. Other than that, this campsite was super clean and will definitely be staying here again!!

The campground owners were really nice and helpful. The campground was really beautiful and my site for my pickup camper was perfect. They had good showers but the WiFi wasn’t working. Great place close to Redwoods National Park and State Parks

Loved this site! If you get in late make sure to check the bulletin board for your envelope with your spot # (hipcamp had a different spot # listed than Ramblin redwoods). Not a big deal. Loved the showers and all the redwoods in the vicinity. Would come back again!!!

This is such a fun campsite. Great place to have a weekend trip to and enjoy the California coast. The showers were a bit dirty throughout the two nights we stayed but we enjoyed having an actual shower and toilet in the middle of our road trip. It also has a grocery store only a couple of minutes away. Four out of five stars

The primitive tent spaces are ridiculously close to each other. We had a family in a large tent literally 2 feet from our tent. The tent spaces aren’t even leveled out. I heard other campers complaining that their tent space were on a slanted ground. This campground obviously caters to RVs. Personally, I think they should either reduce tent sites to allow more space or eliminate tent camping all together.

Great for kids and dogs, we loved it! Clean bathrooms, clean sites, excellent location, great front desk lady. Our only complaint was our picnic table was rotted so we couldn’t sit on it which was a bit inconvenient. We will be back!

Practically within Redwoods NP, minutes from the Jedediah Smith state park. Full amenities with clean bathrooms, showers, laundry, and ice and firewood available. Camp was quiet, clean, and well-kept. Only complaint is that our campsite did not have a table so we had to carry one from an adjacent campsite. Plenty of room to set up tent and enjoy fire pit and/or BBQ. Would stay again.

Fail. We arrived in our 30-amp RV at 5:10 pm, after the office had closed. They left us a piece of paper indicating our space and instructed us to take the 1 map available to find our spot. We hooked up only to find that the electricity kept tripping. The restrooms and laundry had a code which we were not provided. I tried to call the number on the map three times and reached a bot that refused to provide the code and hung up. Tried to text and got no response. So, no electricity, no bathroom. We left in the AM and contacted the camp via Hipcamp to request a refund. They said the map had a sticker w/the code - it did not. They asked me to send screenshots of the calls, texts and map. I did. They still refused a refund. Unethical.

Wonderful location! Accessible bathrooms, laundromat, potable water. Everything was very clean and tidy. The views were lovely and it’s perfectly placed in the redwoods!

Tucked away among beautiful trees & ferns. Giant Redwoods & beaches minutes away in every direction. Clean, hot showers, laundry, and full hookups. Lots of shopping 25ish minutes north in Brookings.

We had hoped to book a site in Jedediah but were too late, so we felt VERY fortunate to find this campground for the coastal redwoods section of our road trip! Instead of feeling just near the redwoods—you’re in them! The playground and tether ball turned my middle schoolers into little kids again :). The bathrooms were tidy and the laundry was a big help! Definitely would book again if we find ourselves in the area. One tip: if you’re a light sleeper, see if you can get a site away from the road. You can’t see anything but can hear loud trucks!

This was the perfect place to stay under the trees. We had 2 tents and it was very spacious. The public facilities were very clean. We would stay here again.

We liked the campground over all, but the lady in charge was terribly rude and hard to work with! She didn’t care what we thought or what we needed! The other employees were very friendly and helpful! It started when we arrived and we had no “check in paper” on the board and the site number it said on hip camp was full so we only saw two sites available and the night guard helped us get one of those but then the lady in charge was rude to yell at us as if we made the wrong decision!

Perfectly respectable camp ground

This was a happy little camp ground and my family enjoyed themselves. It was right next to hiking in the redwoods and swimming in the smith river. If you are tent camping like we were I would recommend bringing something to block out the street lights that shine into the tents. Also it was a little hard to find water to wash dishes for the tent campers. The bathrooms and showers were nice and clean.
