The campground is remotely located on private property and perfectly located for excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the Smith River National Recreation Area, and the Pacific Coast Ranges and mountain lakes such as the Devil's Punchbowl, Buck Lake, and Raspberry Lake.
Relax and free you mind while camping on 120+ acres of private property under starry skies with almost no light or noise pollution. You are not alone on the mountain as other people live here in the wild. You only have access to the campground and a nearby pond. A locked gate with code access. The road to get there is two and a half miles up the mountain, the first mile is paved and the other mile and a half is gravel. The road is maintained by the county and used daily by others that live and work here. In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, birdwatching, and countless other outdoor activities. French Hill Trail is a few more miles up the mountain road.
The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and campers are provided with 5 gallons of potable water. An outdoor, COLD-water Artesian shower, out in the open mountain air with the wild things and an outhouse with a compost toilet are also provided. Bundles of firewood are available for an extra charge when you book your campsite.
The campsites are set within a deciduous and pine forest at about 1913 feet in elevation. There is a pond on the property, but its purpose is for wildlife habitat ONLY, so water activities are NOT allowed. NO swimming, NO fishing, NO boating, NO trapping, etc. The wild things live here!
The property owner has a dog, three cats, and a menagerie of yard birds such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. They do make noise! Kirk has lived off-grid for over twenty years and holds a wealth of information about the Gasquet/Del Norte County area.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of the property is that it has had documented Sasquatch encounters over the past twenty years that have been published in "Tribal Bigfoot" (D. Paulides 2009). Kirk can tell you about his experiences with this and other phenomena on the property.

Weekend Trip to Secluded Riverfront Camp: 12 Acres
I loved our time on Kate’s land! They are so generous to share this slice of paradise with others. The water is clear and the swimming holes are so beautiful. The tent with the bed and the warm shower are so convenient. I would advise to bring a small space heater for the tent and also be sure you are someone who is okay with dogs, as there are 3 very rambunctious dogs and 1 very well behaved dog that are free roaming. We would definitely return.

The fire pit was awesome. 2 sections in a massive rock lined ring- one for grilling and the other for building a bonfire. Blackberries were plentiful and delicious - sweeter than the ones I'm used to in Oregon.
The restroom cabin was a nice touch. Looks like a shower is in the works. It's always nice to have a flush toilet, especially after a full week vault/pit toilets.
There were three spigots with fresh water, and a nice clearing in the trees by the fire pit, which made a perfect natural window for viewing the stars. We were able to see 5 meteors at the tail end of the Perseid before the clouds rolled in.
I'm excited to stay here again and see where Kam goes with the buildout! Thanks for sharing your little slice of land with us.

Weekend Trip to Secluded Riverfront Camp: 12 Acres
This was the most perfect idyllic camp spot ever! Having your own little chunk of paradise complete with a stream and a sweet protection dog?! It doesn’t really get any better than that. Oh wait… It does! You also have a big comfy bed and a hot shower! While camping, those two things just really hit the spot after a long day. And as a solo female camper, having protection dogs all around, made me feel extra safe and that alone is worth it to me. The added little touches of crystals, coloring books , and fresh flowers made it feel so cozy! I couldn’t have set up a better camp spot myself. Honestly, I could go on and on. Just book it. You won’t be disappointed.

Weekend Trip to Azalea River
New favorite stop along the drive from Portland to Arcata! We felt so cozy at this comfy, secluded cabin getaway, and absolutely loved the private access to the amazing, crystal clear Smith river. Waking up (on the very nice bed) and sipping coffee overlooking the water was the perfect start to the day, and then making our way down to soak and sunbathe with the dragonflies whizing by as the sun came out was just icing on top. The portapotty was clean (and you can use it with the door open as it is so private there), just be mindful of critters rummaging about along the way after dark! We encountered a skunk but just kept some distance and there was no trouble. Recommend doing the extended checkout window--well worth it for the extra time by the river. The host was super nice, and patient as well as we were departing a bit late. We will be so happy to return again ASAP! 💚

Carolyn is an excellent host. She has put a lot of effort in creating a welcoming site. We enjoyed talking to her and learning about the history of her farm. The sites are big with plenty of room between each rig. The hookups are well maintained. The location feels secluded with gentle serenades from the farm animals that surround the area.

Very nice, quiet, private and spacious camp site. Lots of birdsong, views of cows and wake-up call from the rooster. Includes fire-pit with wood, 2 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with oil lamps. Surrounded by trees and shrubs with minimal road noise. Great place to stay when passing through and to allow our medium size dog off leash to explore.

Cornerstone Ranch was a perfect home base for our trip to the coast. We explored all day and came back to a safe, beautiful, and peaceful place. I’ve never stayed at a working ranch before, but I read reviews and knew that I would hear the sounds that you would expect on a ranch. I’m pretty sure that my husband woke the rooster with his early out fishing trips. While his crows were noticeable, they were not annoying to me nor were the chickens, cows horses, and all kinds of other birds conducting their symphony each morning. I absolutely loved it! Seeing the horses doing their thing on each side of our campsite was also amazing. The trees are epic and I strongly recommend finding a seat in them for AM coffee. It’s an easy in & easy out and level ground. Multiple porta potties and water available. Kids play area was cool. As other reviews state, there is some traffic coming to and from the ranch, but I found them to be extremely respectful of the speed limits and no bother. Everyone seemed to respect the 10 o’clock quiet time, and the few people that we came in contact with were extremely nice. I would stay here again.

What a gem! A beautiful off-grid cabin overlooking the Smith River. Cabin is cozy, has electricity. Perfect sized kitchen. Upstairs mattress is super comfy. Downstairs is an IKEA futon. Quiet, private personal swimming hole that's down a steep, rocky path. You can tell this land and cabin are beloved by the owner.
If you're familiar with off-grid living, this is perfect for your stay! I just wish I had a longer visit.

Mystic Forest Campground was amazing! It was conveniently located on the 101; offering short drives to beautiful beaches, great hikes, and lots of adventure. The host, Patrick, was very friendly and helpful, sharing his opinions on the best hikes in the area. The store was cute, filled with little trinkets! I loved how a lot of their souvenirs were made by local artists. Overall, lovely stay and would recommend to anyone!
Advice! I would definitely bring extra lighting as it gets very very dark. It is optimal for stargazing!

I’d have to have an hours-long phone conversation to say enough good things about this place.
It is magical in every sense, whimsical, beautiful, cozy and inviting. Hanya is an absolute gem of a human being and the team on the farm, Dar and Julia work tirelessly to ensure this is a haven for everyone who comes through.
Key context here is that we worked with them for several parts of our wedding. They graciously hosted our rehearsal dinner in the shelter of their redwood stand, or reception in the central note of the gorgeously planted treble clef that takes over a large part of the farm grounds and they made every single thing we worked with them on for our wedding events smooth, and perfect. It was everything we could have wanted and so much more!
Come to camp and leave as part of their ever growing family. The domes are so comfortable and amenities abound!
Definitely, absolutely have your wedding here! We will forever be in their corner. There aren’t enough stars to be given.

Great campsite in a very convenient location, especially if you’re planning to explore the Redwood Forest. The tent platform was clean, level, and well-maintained, making it easy to set up our own tent. The restrooms were also very clean, and having hot water available in the shower room was a definite plus.
The location is another highlight. It’s a perfect place to stay while visiting the Redwood Forest, and if you don’t feel like cooking at the campsite, the nearby town is only about a 15-minute drive away, with plenty of options for food.
The only drawback for me was the street lighting. The lights remain on throughout the night, which made stargazing somewhat challenging and made it difficult to capture good photographs of the dark sky. Since most campers bring their own camping equipment and lighting, it would be wonderful if the street lights could be dimmed or turned off after around 10 PM.
Overall, it’s a great camping spot with excellent facilities and a very convenient location. With a small improvement to the nighttime lighting, it would be close to perfect!

Very nice campground in a convenient spot inside the redwoods. Free hot showers are amazing and partial wifi coverage was very handy. Laundry was also super convenient. The host Patrick was kind and looking to accommodate. 19b is quite a tight site specifically for your vehicle. I’d not recommend anything bigger than a mini-suv and it’ll still be a tight parking spot.

About
Just north of Brookings, near the California border, Harris Beach State Park offers plenty of tent and RV sites plus a handful of yurts, all situated a short walk from one of the prettiest stretches of Southern Oregon’s coastline. This compact park is particularly popular with families, with a playground, hot showers, a few easy hiking trails, and lots of little tidepools when the tide is low. It's also a great spot for birding enthusiasts, and you can get great views of Goat Island, an offshore National Wildlife Refuge, from numerous points throughout the park.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Campsites, RV hookups, and yurts become available at 6am (Pacific time), six months in advance on the Oregon State Parks' online reservation system.
- Loop C sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis from November 1 through May 24. If you’re visiting on a weekend with good weather, come at sunrise to reserve your place.
- Last-minute spots occasionally open up at the campground due to cancellations. If a cancellation occurs less than 24 hours in advance, you won’t see the open spot in the online system, but you can book directly at check-in.
When to go
The park is open year-round, though some of the B loop and all of the D loop campsites close during winter. The best time of year is during the warmer summer months, notably July through late September. If you want to beat the crowds but still take advantage of pleasant weather, consider mid-week in September (after kids have gone back to school). The best time for whale-watching is in April through May or mid-December through January.
Know before you go
- The closest place to stock up on supplies is the town of Brookings, about a five-minute drive south from the park. Here you'll find a couple of good-sized supermarkets and plenty of restaurants.
- Campers are allowed only one car with their reservation. If you need to bring a second vehicle, be prepared to pay a small additional fee.
- Campfire bans are not uncommon during summer months, particularly when fire risk is high. Fuel and propane camping stoves are also sometimes restricted, depending on the severity of wildfire risk.

Paris Beach Campground was full when I was there as you would expect in August, but it's a great campground if you can reserve a spot or get in by chance. I have camp there before. The day use area is adjacent to the campsite and is open to the public. It's a great beach to walk to and the loop drive takes you right down to Just above the beach. It's always a great place to watch the sunset, or check out some of the trails in Harris Beach State Park that will alternatively take you through open beaches, Rocky tide pool zones, and spruce trees. It's a beautiful place.

Take a stroll out to the tide pools at low tide to hunt for critters in the rocks and keep your eyes peeled for the bobbing heads of seals out to sea.
The showers at this campground are wonderful (compared to your average campground) so go for it and indulge if you so decide. The sites that face the road have easier access to the cliff views but the inner sites tend to be a bit more shady.

Another beautiful gym created by Oregon! This place is truly Amazing! Breath taking views of the rugged coastline with the powerful sounds of giant waves crashing into large jagged rocks. This place is one reason why I miss Oregon.

Massive, popular yet pleasant campground with incredible proximity to the beach and wonderful views and shoreside trails. Family friendly, friendly staff, clean and quiet (for a place of its size). There are some really killer campsites here that stand head and shoulders above the rest in terms of privacy, setting, and proximity to ocean views. I hope to return soon and write down which ones struck my fancy.

Very well maintained. Gets a lot of day use, but quite peaceful at night. The tent sites are sort of segregated from RV sites, and have nice old school CCC-like masonry work.

If you don't like the noise of children on a playground, avoid the camp sites that surround the playground. It can get SUPER noisy! Spots with best ocean view are A10-A24 (even numbered sites). C1 also has a view. A1, A2, A4, A6 get lots of nice sun!

This campground can get busy with families on weekends so try and go during mid-week. Great hot showers with good water pressure and they are FREE! Also, each shower is its own little room so you don't have to share with anyone. Nice and private!
