Honey Bear by the Sea

Difficult to reach. We reserved a spot before seeing if our pop-up was allowed. After the reservation was made we were told our tent couldnt be at the site. We tried to alert the host but never heard back. We ate the cost and ended up staying somewhere else. A week later we were alerted that we would be charged for having too many tents at the site and for staying past check out...even though we never stepped foot onto the campground. We're still trying to remedy this situation and have yet to hear back from the host.

Walking distance beach access

Very clean with lots of options for different types of camping. Plenty of space so you don't feel cramped. Beautiful dog park area with lots of trees & greenery for them to enjoy & even a wash station. Loved the walking trails that give you plenty of nature & solitude if you choose and bonus trail that provides a quick short cut to the beach. Loved sitting on the sand watching the sea lions fish just 30 feet from shore and the beach wasn't crowded at all especially before 11am or after 6pm. Camp host was very accommodating & friendly. There is a rec center with indoor game activities like pool table, however we didn't get a chance to check it out before we left, time just flew by. It's just far enough out of town to give you that much needed camping vibe yet close enough that any urgent store needs aren't to much of a hassle, and well worth a trip to town for breakfast and their near art gallery & gift shop and easy boat launch for all your fishing fun.

We had a quick stop over on our way down the coast and had an absolutely lovely stay! Easy check in. The tent camping is in a different area from the RVs, which was a huge plus, too. It felt serene and remote. We are planning on returning for a longer camping trip sometime soon!

Hosts were great - helpful in every way we needed, including jumping a dead battery! Camp site and amenities were clean and comfortable, it was quiet at night and the tents are nicely separated from the RV area. It’s a quick ride into Gold Beach and lots of hiking/beaches are close by. I would stay again and recommend to others.

Best campgroung in OR coast!

Amazing campsite. Administratively, they have all worked out greatly, from maps, sections, and an easy functional distribution that makes your experience really great for what you're choosing. They have RVs sections, tents sections, etc. However, the best of all it's how close you will be to nature, not only a beautiful space where you can hear the ocean at nights, also a creek runs through and on top of that in the middle of their meadow you can see wildlife being happy and enjoying life. Besides this, they have a central area, where you can find all you need in terms of facilities: game room, microwave, showers, laundry, and you name it. I even saw workout room and yoga classes. Check-in was simple, and they make sure to help you and especially make you feel safe.

wonderful spot by the ocean!

honey bear was a hit! this was a stop along the way to the redwoods & it was a perfect night…in the trees & close enough to the ocean to hear the waves. the tent camping in the meadow was so nice! we were at T8 and it was fairly secluded under some trees & had a beautiful view of the meadow and the stars at night. bathrooms/showers/port-a-potties were all super clean and always had toilet paper. cute little store and the hosts were very sweet. was a short walk to the beach which was STUNNING. highly recommend & i will definitely stay here again when i’m in the area. thank you!

We had such a blast and look forward to booking again! Honey Bear staff were all super friendly, the grounds were gorgeous, and the amenities were truly impressive. Our family can't wait to come back and bring our bikes and spend more time hiking around the property. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the beach- that is a huge plus that we haven't been able to experience before.

Such a great, all-inclusive campground. We tent camped and had a sweet, private spot, tucked back in the trees of a meadow. Short walk up to all the amenities, including nice bathrooms, hot showers, and a dog park with a dog bath. Beautiful beach with easy access.

The tent site was shaded and next to a pond. It was also next to a portapotty, but we preferred the restrooms by the rec room. The rec room had a microwave also, which we used for one of our meals. There was ping pong, pool, darts, foosball, arcade machines (free to play), and an area to sit and read. The campsite was quiet overall. I did wish we had easier access to the beach, but still enjoyed our stay

For HoneyBear - this place was perfect for our group, who had tent campers and folks staying in travel trailers. Check-in was simple and amenities were nice. We had our own private view of the resident elk heard on our first night, which was great. For HipCamp, I do not think I will be using this service in the future. This was my first time using the app, and found Honey Bear communication and interactions to be more timely and helpful. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between HipCamp and the host, which I am working to resolve (and resulted in me being charged for one more night than my host confirmed reservation). So 5/5 star for HoneyBear, and 1/5 stars for HipCamp.

Buyer beware no refunds ever

The campground is excellent. My concern is with the staff communication poor and strict no refund policy. When I checked in I requested a site closer to my son’s tent site. I paid for a full hookup site including sewer. The site I was sent to did not have sewer hookup. I took the check in person I wanted sewer hookup. No refunds for any reason. The are we had was great. Number 44. No campers nearby and very peaceful. For most people the full hookup means you will be out in the open with the large trailer group. The secluded sites like 44 without sewer were get for camping and privacy. If you notice on the site map they do not indicate full hookup or water and power only. We ended up having a good experience. My only complaint is the no refund for any reason. We just had to dump when we checked out. Not that big of deal.

Overall grade: A- Really well kept up/clean. Excellent wifi!! Even when it was fairly full, it was very quiet/peaceful. Bathrooms/showers were clean with continuous hot water. Things I would update: Offer garbage bins along with all the dog waste bag sites. Especially in the designated dog park. (There is one area with dumpsters that you have to walk to.) Get some new street signage as the current ones are all sun bleached and not readable.

We enjoyed this site a lot. There is a path to the ocean and we could hear the waves late at night. The showers and toilet stalls were immaculate. We would definitely stay here again.

Really nice place with ocean views! The bathrooms/showers were clean and well kept, plus having laundry and a small gym was a nice bonus. Easy pull-through full hookup spot, quiet atmosphere, and very friendly hosts. Would stay again.

Excellent staff and really unique campground. We loved all the little touches that made it feel special. We came for a birthday week and were blown away by the experience. Close to the beach, clean, lots of fun activities and just a beautiful place. You can tell they really are putting in work and truly care for the property. Everyone was wonderful and I could not say enough good things about the staff. Thank you!

There was someone already in my tent spot and they were out of tent spots. They quickly moved me to a secluded, small RV spot back near the meadow and it turned out to be great! Nice little hidden gem with beach access!

Very nice and clean campground. The bathrooms were excellent and had clean, hot showers. Easy walk to the beach which we did with our dogs every morning. A little more expensive but you get what you pay for. Just wish they would re-open the restaurant.

Premium Back-In

A great place to stay. Office staff was very inviting. Definitely could hear the ocean at our site. Nice to hear mother nature at work. One thing that was a drag was that Hipcamp stated camp fires were allowed. Brought enough wood for such. Got there and was told a fire ban was in effect. Bummer. Got an email during the middle of our stay from Hipcamp saying that camo fires were not allowed. Little slow on the ball there. Still had a good time and met some new people.
