Our 220 remote acres are adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta in Northern California. It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek. We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

Butterfly Breathe. Slow way down. Enjoy. Please read this Description in entirety. We are so delighted to share this spot with you. This is a shared campground with 3 separate spots that are relatively private. Host will NOT be there when you arrive unless prior arrangement made. This campground is yours to enjoy. The expectation is 'leave it better than before so the next guests may enjoy! This is camping. BRING YOUR OWN GEAR. Put your own linens and bedding on top of what is already on bed. I can provide linens and bedding for an extra $25 for glamping spots. Beds have pillows on them. There is wildlife. This includes bears and mountain lions in the area. You will not see either but good to be aware they exist. This is a safe 'neighborhood'. We do not have problems with thievery. However, always keep your valuables safe IN YOUR CAR. There is no Power. No WiFi. Cell phone coverage not guaranteed. Depends on your carrier. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS AND INFO BEFORE ARRIVING TO SITE. There is Poison Oak. Stay in the designated areas. If you are susceptible, bring and wash with Tecnu. Or use dish soap and wash. Poison oak is an oil. Most importantly: Don't Touch. No Fires allowed during Summer months. Be super careful. No candles. Smoke in fire pit area. Grass is a tinderbox. 1 spark can ignite all. There is a hose connected to kitchen. There is a Pet Fee stay. 1 pet per site allowed unless prior arrangement made. You are responsible to clean up after your pet and to make sure pet is safe and respectful to neighbors. This means you DO NOT leave your pet unattended, and is leashed at all times. If your pet is barking continuously, we ask that you leave. It is not respectful for all other neighbors. Please bring your own bed for your dogs and clean up after a shedding dog if you are indoors. We ask that guests clean up your camping spot upon departure to 'make the place better than before' for the next guests. Butterfly Landing is a sweet landing spot! Birds, butterflies and small wildlife love this spot. The habitat includes many native species of plant life. A pretty knoll that is on the top of a 40 acre property. Views of vineyards, redwood trees, valley floor, and expansive sky. Private, Quiet and beautiful. A central sunny meadow ties together 3 distinct private areas with a communal kitchen, bath-house, picnic-table sitting area and parking on the side. There is 1 outhouse that has a mailbox system to ensure privacy. (Please read manual on picnic table for instructions) Kitchen. 2 burner propane stove, and sink with running water (cold). (Good for drinking. Pressure is low) There is basic cooking and dishware. Cleaning supplies. A Trash and Recycle Bin. And a Compost bucket where all food scraps should be disposed of and then covered with wood-chips. Kitchen should stay clean at all times. Please put dishes away in the tote to keep clean and critter free. Bath-house. Shower with hot water. 1 shared Outhouse. Please use the path that goes to the outhouse (unless you are in the Greenroom) and make sure you put the mailbox red flag up so that others know it is occupied. ((Then don't forget to put it back down!!) Common sitting area. There are 2 picnic tables, Lots of umbrellas that can be moved wherever, a fire pit/table and lots of seating. Parking. There are room for 3 vehicles. Parking is to be in designated parking area please. Sunny meadow and forest shade make this a lovely landing spot to relax and enjoy nature, and a great opportunity to turn off those cell phones!! Butterfly Landing is about 1/2 mile from HWY 128 that runs through Anderson Valley. This location is the perfect location for it all. Wine tasting in the Valley, Navarro River swimming during the summer months, and the Mendocino coast is nearby. This is an Honor system camping spot. We ask that you leave your spot 'better than before', as in 'Leaver no Trace'. I rely on everyone to do their part in the communal kitchen to keep clean and free of critters. SUPER IMPORTANT to put all food scraps in the compost bin. NO food anything in the trash. This is how the bears show up. Please do your part. Thank you so much. We offer affordable accommodations, organic gardening, and education on plants and living simply. We welcome your interest in veganic garden and diet, orchards, and forest trails. Our organic vegetables and fruit may be available if you wish to bring some of our farm to your table. We can offer you a quiet and peaceful place without social pressures if you wish to "decompress" from city life, jobs or any stressful times. Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people (gentle with children) and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bag dog waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well with a solar pump and is cold and delicious. New are ozone and UV treatment in our storage tanks. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Please be sure to fully turn off the valve, timer and hose lever or we could lose hundreds of gallons in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shuts levers for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. We had such a magical stay at Sanctuary Farm. Marggie is the best host! She taught our son so much about the garden, the animals, and homesteading, and he absolutely adores her. The room was just perfect, cozy, thoughtful, exactly what we hoped for. This is the kind of place that stays with you, and we left already planning our return! I would recommend at least a night, but if you can, stay longer. We highly recommend you do the add ons! We did the goat cheese and it was so much fun and tasted amazing!!

Heartwood was amazing!! We are not seasoned campers so we needed a place with lots of comforts compared to many of the camping options we looked at. This was perfect! Our entire family loved it and even agreed it was better than a hotel or any airbnb we could book. Truly a great place to stay and enjoy the great outdoors wish we’d had more than the one night.

1 night at Bayside Cabin

We loved our stay at Bayside Cabin! The cabin itself is so cute. There is a fire pit and firewood is supplied (we found it so refreshing that they don’t nickel and dime you for add-ons here!) We also appreciated the welcoming handwritten note on the wall describing how things worked and giving local suggestions. We felt safe, welcome and very content. The running water and warm outdoor shower were so nice! There is some visibility into the neighboring houses but due to the distance that wasn’t a bother. Added bonus were the cute little banana slugs all around the outside of the cabin. Highly recommend. Make sure to bring your sleeping bag.

Weekend Trip to Camp Stoney Meadows

This is our second time staying and it's great! Love the communal kitchen, great access to creek, and friendly atmosphere. He lets us lick from the garden and last year set up the whole pizza oven for us even bringing dough! It was too hot this year but still a perfect get away from technology!

Weekend Trip to The Retreat At Redwood Shores

I stay here everything I visit my daughter. Great location, easy access to Cal Poly Humbolt. Cabins are all great, comfortable beds, clean linens (bedding and towels) provided at no extra fee (the stated $20 extra for linens on the site is a glitch). Great place if you're travelling with pets- they have a closed space for dogs to run. Stayed there 5 or so times in the last year and I know there have been upgrades to cabins- if you're with a dog that can open doors, stay in a rustic cabin, there's no way a dog can open the door while you're relaxing on the porch h swing or at the site's picnic table and fire pit.

The fisherman’s shack was amazing! Exactly what we wanted and so close to town and the beach. It felt like camping with a little more shelter. The site was beautiful and very well kept, and the host was very sweet.

2 nights at Baby Banana Slug Farm

This is such a cute spot to spend a few nights in the woods - everything you need, including a heater and twinkly lights. The host and other guests were all very friendly, and I loved how easy it was to drive to the coast and Mendocino.
