Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

Welcome to our land in the beautiful wilderness of upper Calistoga. Our land is a nature experience, with some development of trails and amenities, at our family land just 10 minutes outside of Calistoga with all the wineries, spas, and restaurants. The hilltop (where Coral Cabin is located) has electricity and wifi, and is a common area for all campers. The main house and deck are not part of the hipcamp; the tenants are a nice family and caretakers of the land, but not the hosts so please do not disturb. Our sites are no frills, cute and rustic, and “user responsible” meaning the price includes basic “leave no trace”cleaning guidelines. Because of this, communication with Dan is super important to ensure expectations are clear for you and us, our land is respected, and you have a great time! Rules for all sites, read before you book! 1. We provide trash bags and ask that you take all trash and recycling to the bottom of the driveway, in the 'hipcamp' trash bin provided (smaller grey bin by mailbox). 2. We have a compost toilet system designed by a graduate of the Occidental Ecology Center permaculture course. It has pros and cons, but when operated correctly, it is a good system: All you gotta do is add mulch (which is any dried leaves or grass), on top of your own biz and it begins to break down waste immediately, including smell. If in doubt, add more mulch; you can find it in a bin by the toilet or gather a handful at time of service. Or: There are also nice coffee shops in town:) 3. The nature of our land being wild, there are no wood fires allowed. We have propane fire pits, and ask guests to use extreme caution with bug candles or smoking anything. We currently have 3 campsites. Please see descriptions for each campsite access and services available. *The Hilltop/Coral Cabin has the best large RV access, Wi-Fi and electricity, and the best views. Each campsite has a gas camping stove and compost toilet. You will see lots of wildlife! Beautiful birds song every morning, little lizards everywhere, turkeys, a toad here and there! You can hike the extent of our 34 acres on fire roads that lead to the top of the Whaleback Ridge, seen in the distance from all camps. That would be an epic sunset hike! Each of our areas, whether for entertaining or residing, has its own theme and is decorated with care. Each of the listings has it's own private deck or patio and then you have access to all of the common areas on the property We promise you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are minutes from everything. Lulu’s Landing and Captain Wack’s Cove is a pirate-themed Creekside hangout, where you can enjoy a fire, except during banned season. Also a great place to capture a glimpse of the numerous critters that cruise our creek. Foxes, Deer, Squirrels, Otters, Ducks and Herons as well as numerous songbirds that feed from our bird feeder. Lulu’s Lanai is a Flamingo-themed outdoor living room and dining area with fun vintage furniture and décor. The Take- A -Liki- Tiki Shower Shack is a great place to cool off and clean up after a day on the river or exploring tidepools at the coast. There is even a puppy bath station behind it for your furry friends! The Wack Shack is our outdoor bar and grill, full of fun, colorful lights and signs. There’s plenty of equipment to cook there: appliances, a BBQ, sink, fridge and walk-up bar. We also have several apple trees, a pear tree, and tons of blackberries when in season to share with our guest. Our Veggie Garden will be available next season to enjoy also. We are constantly improving our property so please stay in the finished designated guest areas only until we open up the coming attractions. There are plenty of sites and destinations within minutes from our home too! We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past. We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive. To access, expect to walk down a slope approximately 40 yards with uneven, mulch-covered steps. The Taverna is a space approximately 12x12. Outside it looks like a shed. Inside you'll find a redwood bar with seating for four. The bar is elevated and a full-sized mattress pulls out from beneath the bar to reveal your sleeping space. The Palapa, an elevated platform with hammock chairs. You can place a tent here. You will need to bring bedding. Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have one cabin and a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more as we go. The campground offers hot showers and flush toilets, two sites in the Glade have running water and power. The cabin is a fully equipped studio with kitchen and bathroom. You can hike through our property to the Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the birds. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates. We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is dirt (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 28’ on these roads. Please do not take County Road 110 from Boggs/Cobb - it is not maintained at all. We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead and inside at night for their own protection and the comfort of others. We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

The "Fairy Rings" have been trimmed up for fire prevention and offer great views and opportunities to appreciate the magnificence of these Redwood giants that we love. There is great coffee and Amazing pastries at Gold Coast just a mile away in Duncan's Mills. Jenner is only about 15 mins away with Cafe Aquatica and River's End Restaurant (reservations needed-SO good and special) The "Cazita" sleeps up to 3 guests in a king bed and sofa sleeper and has a bathroom with flush toilet and shower. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with everything needed to prepare your meals. There is a 2 night minimum for booking. The "Redwood Nest" is a standalone room featuring a queen bed and bay window looking out onto a redwood stand. There is a composting toilet in the attached outhouse and an outdoor sink. There are no cooking facilities and no cooking allowed. The redwood nest is really perfect for a couple looking to eat out and then sleep, fully at peace beneath the Redwoods. Please note that there is a friendly dog on the property (although we do not accept pet guests). This property is ideal for quiet people who want to get away into nature, enjoy the outdoors. It is dark at night- we do not have exterior lighting except for string lights and provided flashlights. Quiet hours begin at 9:30pm. There is absolutely no smoking of any kind permitted on the property. Although some reviews mention a hot tub, it is no longer available to guests (sorry, maintenance issues)

My daughter and I really enjoyed staying in the Cozy Cabin for a weekend away together. The cabin is indeed "cozy" and comfortable, and we loved the various gathering spaces outdoors. On our last evening my daughter enjoyed the hot tub while I sat by the fire so we could chat! And we appreciated that Lynda was very responsive when we had questions about the wifi- many thanks for your hospitality Lynda!

Our stay was great, we enjoyed our weekend very much. The only suggestion id make is that the cabin be cleaned better, the window sills were dirty and the blinds needed cleaning. Price was great, cooking equipment and utensils were ok, they served the need. One last thing is the playground for the kids for sure needs work, I would love to bring my grandkids but there would not be much for them to do.

Great place to disconnect and enjoy nature in a peaceful setting. Have been here twice in August 2022 & 2026. Trek down to a beautiful rocky, clear water pond that is totally quiet…not a person around. Enjoy floating in an inner tube (provided), read, relax and a dog’s haven to swim. Cook inside or out on the grill. While this place is not about luxury, it makes up for in ambience.

Camp Caz was such a special and unique experience. The property itself is gorgeous. Coming from a busy neighborhood filled with constant noise, our stay felt so peaceful and private. It was a nervous system reset. The cabin is spacious, featuring beautiful wood details and epic window views. We really enjoyed the fire pit, making s'mores under a clear view of the stars. Creek access is perfect, offering a large area to sit and relax. The surrounding rocks and boulders are stunning up and down the creek. Although water levels were lower this time of year, there were still deeper spots to float and cool off. Our host, Carrie, provided helpful details and instructions, and communication was seamless throughout our stay. This was truly a wonderful escape. You can tell how much love and time went into making this Hipcamp what it is today. I am so thankful to have experienced it. Pro tip: save the access code prior to arriving at the property due to limited cell service.

We stayed in #42 house right by the beach. We had so much fun!! the place was a very clean and cute, with plenty of room. (we had 13 people) Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Only thing I would say is if you have more that 5 people bring paper plates and silverware. We will be back!!!

Weekend Trip to The Egrets Nest

Laurel is so sweet and thoughtful. The cabin is so cute, and she had the windows open and fan running when I arrived to cool the space. The snacks and coffee station were such a lovely touch - fresh fruit and sweet treats, an electric kettle and French press, mini fridge, wifi, and a super comfy bed! It's really peaceful and such a little sanctuary. The bathroom is accessed by a very short walk through the backyard. The stars were gorgeous at night, and the hummingbirds, blackberries and Oleander were beautiful during the day! There's a restaurant walking distance, and a trail network just a short mile or so away. I stopped for a night before a 50k race in the Marin Headlands, and this was exactly what I needed. Nothing fancy (you want fancy, rock on with your $200 AirBnB), but such a perfect spot for a solo gal who likes to camp and wanted something that felt fancy to me. ❤️

We had such a wonderful time at Sam’s place. The cabin was cozy and the beds were comfy. Our dogs loved the vast amount of space for running and our kids LOVED the pond and taking the small boat out. We loved that it was just us in the space. If you’re looking for a glamping get away this it!

I don’t even want to share how amazing this place is because I want to be able to book it again. However, Wakalulu is all about openness and connection. The hosts are amazing and show you everything you need or might want then flutter off into what I can only imagine is a castle in the woods for they are too magical to live like mere mortals. This place is curated and the pictures do not begin to do it justice. My only regret is we only stayed 2 nights. You need at least three to soak up the magic. We will be back.

Nora is a great host. She is very responsive to my question. And she make us know just to text her if we need something or other question. The running water in the creek was a bonus. Its like ambient sound which we like. (We have automatic singing bowl running when we sleep for ambient sound) There is a ceiling fan. But if you are a hot sleeper like my husband ( he uses aircon in wintet, that how hot sleeper he is) bring a portable desk dan. For me, the temp was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen is furnished what we need for cooking. It has utensils. There is also a pot for making hot water for coffee, tea or instant noodles. Its pet friendly so we brought our dog

Weekend Trip to Wackalulu's Wonderland

My partner, pup, and I loved our stay in the Cozy Cabin! Lynda, Rich, and Bogey have put together a beautiful space with a lot of charm and personality, from the common spaces (for lounging by the creek and in a new space under the trees for the warmer midday), to the repurposed door to the cabin. The creature comforts (heated water and heating pads for the bed) were much appreciated and our pup felt right at home and had so much fun exploring the property. The property is very conveniently located, with a local cafe (Lightwave) pretty much in the backyard of the property, and a convenience store and a tasty pizzeria (Wonderland) a short 15 minute walk away in Monte Rio. The Monte Rio Redwoods Trailhead (2.3 mile loop) and beach access to the Russian River were also within a 15 minute walk. We also enjoyed dinner a 15 minute drive away in the very dog-friendly Guerneville, and enjoyed activities on the Russian River half an hour away (and the drives are beautiful, with many wineries on the way!). My one tip for future hip campers is to make sure you download maps for the area beforehand - my service was very spotty, and the wifi connection in the Cabin came and went, though it is stronger in the common spaces!

Snuggle Inn is a hidden gem that completely exceeded my expectations. The waterfront cottage is much better than the pictures show—it's spacious, boasts a great split unit, and has a fully equipped kitchen. I loved grilling on the waterfront fire pit and sleeping in the comfortable queen-sized bed with my two dogs. Despite it being a busy July 4th weekend with lots of kids and boaters, the cabin remained surprisingly peaceful. The best part was walking my two boys down to the beach to run and swim. My terrier mix was in heaven! With hot showers and flush toilets available, it’s a perfectly relaxing setup - spacious and comfortable. I’m already planning my next trip back!

We loved our weekend at the Coral Cabin on Dan’s land. Almost like camping but with a comfy bed, coffee maker and fridge, and not far from town, it was a beautiful (the view!) quiet place to get away to with our dogs. Dan’s directions were clear and he is a friendly, responsive host. Strongly recommend!
