The working farm fields are not open to campers, but can be admired as a backdrop. Wave hi to any farmers you see out there working! A You-Pick flower patch and farm stand at the entrance of the property are open for frolicking, picture-taking and flower-picking seasonally.
You'll see bald eagles, hear owls and watch deer pass through your camp. But you are only about a 5-10 min walk from town! This does mean you'll often hear music from events on weekend evenings, and plane traffic does fly overhead. Vashon is quiet and full of nature, but you're not out in the middle of nowhere! This is a stand alone structure that is separate from our main house. There is no shower in this dry space, but there is a camping sink that functions like a normal kitchen sink with hot water capacity. The shed has an easy to use composting toilet with clear instructions if you’re a first timer. Also, “Ms Pacman's Backyard Glampsite” is a converted shed, so be ready for some lower ceilings and narrow spaces. The lofted full bed is cozy, so don’t bob your head on the way out! The bed has a six inch memory foam mattress with extra blankets and pillows available. Everything is washed with free and clear laundry detergent for any sensitivities.
We provide a small refrigerator, a 2 burner stove with pots and pans for light cooking, coffee making supplies (reusable keurig pods or pour over coffee along with creamers and sugars), wine openers, dishes, and more. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals and games either indoors or outdoors.
You will be one block away from Highland Park which has a tennis court and baseball field. Less than a mile north, you can explore the West Duwamish Greenbelt Trails. Only two blocks south of the property is Westcrest Park that hosts a community garden, a dog park, and small trails in their greenbelt. This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided.
A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm.
The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics.
The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights.
There is only one bed and it is not recommended for small children to sleep in the loft as there is no safety rail or gate up there. If a child is present it is recommended (almost required) that they sleep on the couch in the lower living space.

The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking around the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of the original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender.

One acre pasture for dry RV camping (no restroom facilities). There is a potable water/hose bib and an auxilliary 110 volt 15 amp AC connection via extension cord from barn. You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Situated between Suquamish Clearwater Casino and The Point Casino with so much to do in between. Short drive to downtown Poulsbo and Point No Point beach. You can rent a kayak or board and enjoy the sound. Great fishing, crabbing or just beachcombing! Short walk or bike ride to North Kitsap Heritage Park.

Because it's next to a nature preserve, Patrick's site is quiet and private. He's provided a lot of thoughtful improvements like a power extension cord and a long hose for topping off your RV fresh water tanks. His home is close to just about anything you would want to do in the Seattle area.

We had a great stay on Pete and Claire’s land! The A frames had comfortable cots and the site had everything we needed. Pete met us upon arrival and started up the pellet fireplace for us. It was a lovely stay!

This place is absolutely magical. Quiet, private, deep forest therapy. The cedar hot tub was divine - we had the whole place to ourselves and Jerrett went out of his way to get the hot tub all heated up for us to use. The stream is a quick hike downhill and then you have a tiny private beach and access to a Kayak to paddle around. We spent hours lounging by the water in the sunshine. We will absolutely be returning!

We almost don’t want to leave a review because this place feels like a secret getaway we selfishly want to keep to ourselves… but it’s too good not to share. This was our third stay here with our dog, and somehow each trip has been even better than the last. He absolutely loves the open space to roam, nap in the grass, and explore, and we love how peaceful and tucked-away everything feels while still being incredibly convenient.
You get the best of both worlds here: quiet countryside vibes with plenty of sun and shade, plus downtown restaurants and coffee shops are only about a 10-minute walk (or a super quick 3-minute drive). It feels remote without actually being remote.
Everything is thoughtfully maintained, the bathroom is always clean, the grounds are beautiful, and the kitchen/deck setup honestly pushes this into glamping territory if you want it to. Morning coffee under the trees, campfires at night, and wide open skies made it hard to leave.
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly spot that feels peaceful, cozy, and just a little magical, this is it. We’ll definitely be back again… and probably still debating whether we should keep telling people about it.

There was a lot of good things about this place. One, I was able to stay relatively far from most others, making it a little more private than a state park camp. The kitchen/freezer/fridge that is open for use was super helpful. I still cooked at camp and used a cooler, but doing dishes was great. The big field where we camped was soft, and drained well. The lawn was so nice, and great for kids to just run around. Lots of dogs here for my dog to interact with. There was a trail nearby that you could walk. This place was only 10 minutes from town. The hosts were very communicative, and the price was great. One thing that was not great, was that there was only one fire pit. I had thought there would be the ability to have one at our camp. One suggestion I would have, is to make the bathrooms accessible from outside the barn. It was a bit awkward to go through the barn to go to the bathroom. There was 2 women who basically lived in the common space, sitting right outside the bathrooms, and so you walk past them a dozen times a day when going to the bathroom, taking kids to the bathroom, or taking a shower. Felt like it was their house that I was using to go to the bathroom.

We loved dry camping on Lisa’s property. The site was a small
field that overlooked Poverty Bay with a amazing view of Mt Rainier. Well maintained! We were the only one’s there, so we picked a great spot for RV right at overlook. Access to beach was great! Everything was awesome!! Downside for a large RV: it cost $141 to get on island. Free to take RV back to mainland. $7 per adult to take water taxi to Seattle; another $7 to return. Also it’s about as far south on the island as you can go and it was difficult finding a ride share to take us to ferry to go to Seattle. No Ubers or Lyft drivers on island. There are however, several individuals that will drive folks around. Bus only travels so far. Really appreciative of Lisa and her letting us spend two nights on her property. One of our favs!

Overview
About
Just a few miles southwest of Seattle in the heart of Puget Sound, Blake Island Marine State Park spans nearly all of Blake Island and is only reachable by boat. A mooring dock, moorage buoys, and paddle-in campsites are available, though most campsites are available only on a first-come, first-served basis. Five miles of driftwood-strewn beach ring the island, while eight miles of hiking trails run through the island’s interior. Fishing, crabbing, clamming, hiking, and biking are all popular activities here, where campers will get views of Seattle, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains from the shores.
Notable campgrounds
- Best all-around campground: The park’s main campground has the most amenities.
- Best for paddlers: The park’s three Cascade Marine Trail campsites are for paddlers and wind-powered vessels only.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Most Blake Island campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis year-round. However, from May 15 to September 15, 15 campsites are reservable in advance.
- Reservations for the 15 reservable summer campsites can be made nine months in advance online or by calling (888) 226-7688.
- The logistics of planning a boat trip to an island with first-come, first-served campsites and mooring options can be tricky. We recommend calling the park rangers at (360) 731-8330 for logistical questions and conditions.
When to go
Blake Island Marine State Park is open year-round, but summer is the most popular season for its long days and good weather. Winters are cold and wet, with highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-30s.
Know before you go
- The park’s 44 standard campsites include picnic tables, fire rings, tent pads, and access to restrooms and potable water.
- The park store at the park office carries firewood, snacks, and ice cream. Gathering firewood on the island is prohibited.
- Visitors must pack out all trash.
- Campers frequently spot deer, river otters, and bald eagles from Blake Island hiking and biking trails.

This was back in the early 90's, but I'm pretty sure the island hasn't moved much since then. We rode out from Lake Union and headed across the Sound with a pretty good chop on the water. Quick ride. A fun evening around the campfire, just hanging out. Would love to go back and check out the Tillicum Village dinner sometime...
