Eben was a fantastic host! Very informative and personable. We closed out the season, so we didn’t get to experience all of the amenities available during warmer times, but the offerings are very well built out and thoughtful (water, showers, bathroom availability, hiking and fruit picking). The campsite itself was gorgeous and very well arranged/maintained. We especially appreciated the type of grill available on the fire pit and fire poker. Can’t wait to stay here again!

We had an amazing girls trip night in the yurt! Nicole was so helpful and responsive and the property was stunning. We met 2 of their super friendly dogs, one of whom accompanied us on a walk down to the brook! The yurt was incredibly cozy and we were lucky enough to get to see the first snow that night. We look forward to returning to the yurt again sometime!

Weekend Trip to Magical Mountain River retreat

The site was lovely and as expected - riverside with a picnic table and a nice wide flat surface for setting up our 2-person tent. As described, it is a fairly steep (but wide) path to get down to the site, though we managed even after dark with head lamps on and a slow pace. There is a shared fire pit for all three sites at one of the sites. The privy was clean, well maintained, and centrally located. The host, Abi, was responsive and provided detailed information about how to get to the site, the expectations, and amenities.

Really nice place to camp. I was there in November so it was very quiet. Very convenient location for the workshop I was attending in Canterbury.

Well, lemme tell ya, this here’s the view from my little ol' parking spot. We got ourselves some good ol’ electricity 'n' them fancy low voltage lights all 'round the place. Makes it real nice when the sun goes down, ya know? Perfect for a campin’ trip, if ya ask me!

Weekend Trip to Campers Welcome to The Wolf Swamp.

Absolutely beautiful campsite along a little pond. We had some surprise visits from a couple horses, Emily and Sunny, from a neighboring farm which put a great big smile on our faces. Dwayne, the man, the myth, the legend himself brought us two very large bags of wood which we happily burned throughout the cold night. Still one of my favorite sites for its convenience and scenery. Although the highway is right next to you, after a little bit it turns into white noise and helped me sleep like a baby. Thanks again for a great stay on our final trip of the year. See you guys next year!

Best site I've ever stayed at! Good amount of space between sites but still an easy walk to the kitchen+water, outhouses were clean and convenient with an excellent sense of interior decoration! We stayed at Birch Grove on a particularly cold, rainy, and windy Halloween weekend and Nick already had a large tarp set up over the easiest tent spot.... plus a cow skull and a few candles for the ambiance. Excellent vibes 👌

Incredible site with multiple pitches spread out around the land. We were lucky enough to be put on the beat site...on site 7 (despite booking the field site). What a view and great facilities. Fit pit with grill for cooking whilst watching the stars and white mountains. Camp cooking kitchen and shower near the main house. Fire wood for sale. Compost toilet at each site. The only problem was we wished we could have stayed longer! Look out for the friendly moose and check out the little boat on the pond. Fab site 10/10.

Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. The best camping in White Lake State Park, NH guide

About

Set on the shore of a small glacial lake in central New Hampshire, White Lake State Park offers some of the best swimming in the state. A large sandy beach area is surrounded by thick pine forest with views of the surrounding mountains and a two-mile footpath circles the entire lake. Trout fishing, canoeing, hiking, and birdwatching are other activities in the park and the park’s campground is one of the largest in the area with over 203 campsites, many with views of the lake. When the snow falls, the park is also popular with snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and snowmobilers.

Tips for snagging a campsite

White Lake State Park can get very busy on summer weekends. Campsite reservations are strongly recommended and can be reserved up to eleven months in advance online or over the phone.
A handful of sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early in the day to find a spot or call ahead for availability.
Not all sites are large enough for RVs or trailers. Be sure to check campsite size before booking a site.

When to go

The White Lake State Park Campground is open from Memorial Day weekend through the second Monday of October. The park gets very busy on weekends in summer so visit during the week if you can. Day use visitors also need to book a beach reservation since parking at White Lake Beach is limited. Beach reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance and a few first-come, first-served spots available.

Know before you go

Campsites include fire rings, picnic tables, and access to drinking water, coin-operated showers, and a dump station. No hookups are available.
The park has a camp store where you can buy ice, firewood, and other camping essentials. Canoe rentals are also available at the lake.
Pets are not permitted anywhere in White Lake State Park.
The city of North Conway is 20 miles north and has grocery stores, restaurants, and many other visitor services.
