As stated, Silverwood Theme Park and Farragut State Park (including their gun range) are all located ten minutes or less from our property. Other places to see include Bayview, Idaho and Sandpoint, Idaho - both situated on beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. Things to note: -Your site will be fully stocked to meet your tent camping needs! This includes a picnic table, a smokeless fire pit, fire starting materials, and a pad or pads to accommodate your tent(s). -Nicely sized firewood bundles will be available for purchase. -Our campground has a fully functioning outhouse that we take great pride in maintaining to ensure cleanliness and a pleasant experience. It may just be the biggest outhouse you’ve ever seen! -Our campground now has potable water! Near the firewood stand you will find a spigot that can be used for your camping needs. Your site will have a large six gallon container of non-potable water to be used in the case of a fire emergency (if safe to do so). -Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash. Please pick up after your pet. -Tessa and Danny were both born and raised in Northern Idaho. If you are trailer camping you will have to back in from the public roadway up an incline to access the spot. If you aren't comfortable backing your trailer in this spot might not be for you. We also welcome tent and van campers! There is a fire ring, a picnic table, tiki bar, decks, chairs, and an outhouse. There is a trail down to the dock where you can launch kayaks, paddle boards or canoes. New this season, 4 kayaks included with your stay!! This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is no longer off grid, but if the power does go out, it's a great place to be.. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Easy access from I 90 but not nearly close enough to hear it. Campsite sits 500-600 feet off a county road with a easy driveway and plenty of turn around space. It's a basically level area with several options for how to park. Large pine trees provide shade but let plenty of light through. There is filtered road noise, but the crickets and coyotes are the main thing you'll hear at night. 50 amp power is available and included. The outlet and a 50' heavy duty cord are on the corner of the house. A 30-to-50 amp converter is also there. It doesn't reach to the entire camping area so you'll need to park a bit closer to the house if using it.

A quaint, quiet campground. Nathaniel did a great job of communicating directions and instructions prior to arrival. The camp was clean, the bathrooms/port-a-potties were quite tidy and the setting was peaceful. Some wayfinding signage around the grounds (to navigate to the resource sheds, etc.) would have been great, but definitely not a dealbreaker. Also, another table or 2 in the fern trail parking/communal dining area would have been great additions. Again, though, definitely not dealbreakers, as we got to know a couple of folks who were staying at the adjacent fern trail camp site. All-in-all, this was a great little location that we would be happy to re-visit.

The campsite was quite private. Onsite parking available. Mirror lake was beautiful! We brought our paddle boards and it was so easy to drop them in the lake off the dock near the campsite. Location was so close to Sandpoint, lots of nearby access to Lake Pend Oreille, and less than an hour from Coeur d'alene if you're seeking additional adventures. The picnic table is shared amongst 3 campsites so just be prepared to share some common space if you are running on a similar meal schedule as a neighbor.

The pictures on the listing don’t do it justice. The site is rather high up on a bluff or terrace overlooking the River. Sweet. Ed, who fills in for Wylie and lives next door, was super friendly and helpful.

Stayed at Scott’s field during a kids soccer tournament. The location was close enough to all the games yet far enough away that you weren’t in town or crowded in with a bunch of other RVs. The kids LOVED the rope swing and zip line. My only complaint was the tent campers that were living there. While they were very nice and friendly, they did have constant loud TV or radio at all hrs of the day. Kind of dampened the ‘camping’ vibe. Regardless, we would definitely stay there again.

Larry is awesome and his camping spots are clean and well maintained. We had a quiet time there, enjoyed being close to towns and stores to take care of errands. There is distant street noise from the highway so if you are looking for total silence not your place. However the convenience, affordability, and kindness of the owners makes up for that small imperfection.

We had the best long weekend at Clagstone. The site is everything you would need camping . Clean and quiet and a great place to hangout. Rich gave us a call when we got in and offered firewood and a fire pit and told us some spots to check out nearby. Then checked in with us when we left and made sure everything went well . If we ever go to Idaho again we will definitely be staying there. It was the best long weekend getaway where we could relax and hangout . Nicest camp spot we’ve been to so far! Thanks Rich!

Overview

About

Formerly a major training base used by the U.S. Navy during World War II, Farragut State Park is set on the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille in the Idaho Panhandle. This huge, 4,000-acre park offers hiking, mountain biking, boating, swimming, and more, and becomes a major cross-country ski and snowshoe destination in winter. Campers can choose between full hookup or basic sites and camping cabins at Farragut Campground. The Museum of the Brig is housed in one of the park’s few remaining military structures and is filled with memorabilia from the area’s past life as a military training center.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Farragut State Park has over 200 campsites that can be reserved in advance, and reservations are strongly recommended for summer weekends. The park also has cabins, group campgrounds, and equestrian sites.
Reservations for campsites and camping cabins can be made up to nine months in advance online. Reservations must be made at last one day prior to arrival.
Not all campsites can accommodate large RVs or trailers. Check each site’s driveway length when booking.

When to go

Summer and early fall are the best times to camp, hike, and swim at Farragut State Park. September and October are a particularly lovely time to visit when the summer crowds have gone home and the leaves put on a fall foliage show. In winter, Farragut State Park grooms about six miles of cross-country ski trails for beginner and intermediate skiers. Limited camping spots are available in the winter months, when sites are first-come, first-served.

Know before you go

Showers are available at all Farragut State Park campgrounds and at Beaver Bay Beach.
Farragut State Park has over 40 miles of hiking trails. The Squirrel Cache and Shoreline trails are both easy family-friendly with great views.
Find park guides, trail maps, campground registration, and a gift store at the visitor center near the west entrance.
Dogs are allowed everywhere in the park except for Beaver Bay Beach.

Farragut Campground

This is a BIG park with several campgrounds. I've stayed at both Whitetail and Snowberry and both are nice. Well run, clean and with lots of amenities from boat launching to mountain bike trails to equestrian areas. And not far from services in nearby towns, but far enough away for peace and quiet.
