When it comes to adventure, it doesn’t get much better than Sandpoint, Idaho. On one side, the 43-mile-long Lake Pend Oreille offers boating, fishing, and swimming. On the other, the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains are ideal for hiking, rock climbing, and biking. Scattered around Bonner County, you’ll find spectacular campsites and RV parks. Near Sandpoint, take your pick of beautiful waterfront campgrounds. Spot moose and beaver from the shady sites at Round Lake State Park. Nearby, Riley Creek and Priest River recreation areas offer riverfront sites. At Springy Point, take in the mountain and lake views from your picnic table. For wooded tent camping sites, head to the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The fire pits at Green Bay are perfect for s’mores. At Sam Owen near Clark Fork, swim from the sandy beach and use the boat ramp. If you want to camp for free, head to Whiskey Rock Bay. Hikers and bikers shouldn’t miss Priest Lake State Park.
