>>> Voted #1 Campground in Idaho 2022, 2024 & 2025 (Hipcamp Awards) <<< Like a postcard photograph, Bigfoot Campout sits perched over Mirror Lake on one end of a mountain bowl. Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site. Most private: Sites A, B, 1, 2 and 3, or Sites C/D or E/F, when booked in pairs. (Do not book C/D or E/F for complete privacy unless you book them in pairs.) Most shade: Sites A, E and F. Sunniest: Sites B, C and D. Electric access: Sites B, C and D. (C/D share a power pedestal.) Nearest to a Port-a-Potty: Sites A, D and E. Nearest to lake: Site A. Best for large parties: Book Sites C/D together for larger RV camping parties, or book Sites E/F together for moderate-sized tent camping parties.

Campsite C occupies the east side of a shared loop and can accommodate up to three vehicles, with one of those being an RV or Trailer. This site is larger and has gorgeous lake views. This is an excellent site for moderate-sized camping parties of 4-10 campers. Campsite C has a picnic table, fire pit, and a shared 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. No tent pad on this site.(Campsite D occupies the center & west side of the loop, and also has access to this electric box.) IMPORTANT: Site C occupies one side of a shared loop, so you may or may not have another camping party relatively close in Site D. If you'd like to ensure complete privacy and/or exclusive use of the electric box -- or if you'd like to host a larger camping party -- then you should book BOTH Site D and Site C together. This would give you the entire loop to yourself. Please only considering booking Site C by itself if you are committed to being respectful to a neighboring camping party in the center or on the other side of the loop. . Access: This is a pull-in/back-out side if Campsite D is occupied. Otherwise it's a pull-through using the loop. Campsite B is a pull-over, RV/Trailer/Truck/Campervan/Auto site (i.e. no tent pads) which is more secluded in the woods. This site is definitely the easiest to access for larger RVs, as it is pull-thru. While this site is very private, there are no direct lake views from the site. You must walk about 50 yards for lake views. This is easily our sunniest site and has a picnic table, fire pit and a 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. Parking: Pull to the right as far as possible so as not to impede passer-by vehicles at the campground exit. A - Lakefront Tent + Tiny Cabin

Site A has a small 2-bed 8'x8' cabin and an outdoor grass tent pad, with expansive views of Mirror Lake as it is located down by the shoreline, near the fishing dock. It is ideal for 2 campers (if using the cabin only) to 6 campers (cabin and tent). It also has a picnic table, fire pit and Port-a-Potty. Dry camping. No dedicated electric, however a solar panel does provide some intermittent power on sunny days -- enough to charge phones or light up the cabin at night. (Note: if the angle of the sun is not hitting the panels enough to charge the battery, feel free to detach both the panel and battery from their connecting power cable. Once disconnected, both can be moved to a sunnier spot to gain maximum sun exposure, then reconnected. This will charge up the battery much faster. The best spot for charging is on the grass down by the dock hammock.) Access: 1 vehicle maximum for this site. This site is ideal for cars, trucks and campervans. RV's and trailers must be under 24 feet long for this site. This site is pull-in/back-out for small RV's, however cars, vans and trucks can turn around to exit with a 5-point turn. Parking: If you have car, truck or van, please park in the gravel lot across the road from the cabin. Use caution when pulling in and out of the lot, as the clearance is a bit tight. If you have a longer vehicle (RV, trailer, etc), then you'll need to park along the shoulder near the cabin. Please note that the road that this campsite is located upon also acts as a driveway, therefore please do not impede passer-by vehicles when parking. If you must use the shoulder, move the "no parking" stanchions and pull over as far as possible. Please replace the "no parking" stanchions along the shoulder upon check-out. As always, we had the best time!! From the Bigfoot trails to the geocaching, it was all so much fun. Nathaniel is the best!! So easy to work with and excellent at communicating right away. We will definitely be back several times this year

I loved camping on this piece of property! The camp sites were fantastic with a great view. The land is very well maintained and has small hikes through the property. There are amazing touches throughout the property that show the host loves the property. It was very quiet and felt remote. The trees and rock landscape on the property are beautiful. Things to know: The road up is one way and fairly narrow. Move slowly and use a spotter if necessary. Also - the electric supply box is located a distance from the D spot, and is shared by C and D. You may need more electrical line to reach your camper, even in the C spot! It was a great site to camp in and the host was responsive on the app!

We absolutely loved our stay at Paradise on Mirror Lake! It’s a small, quiet campground with a ton of charm. The Bigfoot theme is awesome. Our boys had a blast following the Bigfoot trail. For a thrill, our boys even did the trail at night with flashlights, which made the experience that much more fun! We stayed in Site C, which was beautiful, but definitely bring an RV extension cord since the hookups are a bit of a stretch. If you’re looking for a laid-back place to unwind, explore, and maybe spot Bigfoot, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. The sites are clean, private and with a fire extinguisher and a water bucket on hand, safety is a must. I liked that! We did not use the fire pit as we came unprepared for that. We liked the enchanted forest and the walk to the beautiful mirror lake. The work put into this camp shows. I have already recommend this site to others. Well done on a beautiful campground!

Beautiful site! I stayed at site A, and it's a cozy, tiny cabin, but the site itself felt like a ton of space. Clean, private, and on the lake! I saw a ton of wildlife too. And it's cheaper than most places would be for what you get. Will be going back sooner than later! Nathaniel was a great host too. My only feedback would be to include signs to the garbage disposal. I tried to find it after dark and got lost even with the map (this may be user error so take it with a grain of salt).

This place is magical! The cabin is adorable and very cozy. There’s little lanterns in the trees which are a great touch at night. The water is super close and the fishing dock is wonderful to sit on while watching sunset. It was so quiet and peaceful. The restroom was super clean and near by. It’s a very well kept and beautiful location.

Great location, beautiful camping spot. The directions were spot on, the area this time of year is quiet. Great get away for my wife and I with plenty to do there. We brought up our quad and explored a bit as well as enjoyed swimming in the big lake Pend Oreille plus did a little kayaking. Good times and the camp spot was clean and level with great accessibility. Looking forward to returning!

This was the first Hipcamp experience for us and it was a good one. The lake was peaceful and the little cabin so cute. I loved how easy it was to book and the communication and detail on locating the place was great. We lucked out with this tiny gem. When we arrived it was beautiful and sunny but within 20 minutes or so a storm complete with big hail came rolling in. Having the cabin for shelter was nice during the storm even though it was short lived. It was a cozy spot. The touch of having solar lanterns gave it a special touch for the evening. The extras like a cot and sleeping pads was a help. I would recommend this place. Next hopefully we can stay longer to explore more.

Loved it! We are new to the RV world and are not fans of busy campgrounds. Site”B” is very private. We rode our bikes to the lake which I can’t pronounce. Beautiful star gazing. Site was very clean and easy to pull into. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful visit. This is our 2nd visit. The lake has alot of Lilly pads but we went out and went swimming at Lake Pend Orielle and had a great time. The lil cabin is nice to put all of our stuff in so that it doesn't clutter the tent. The burn ban was in effect but we still sat around the fire pit and listened to all the sounds. The frogs were making music. So many turkeys and deer. Such a gorgeous view. Will be back again!

Very dialed in campground. Leveled sites were a welcomed surprise. The lake is not swimmable, which my 6 y/o found out quickly after jumping in to 3 ft of muck lol. Cleanest porta-potty we've ever seen (our child said he'd live in it). Solar lights in the trees were a nice touch. Great spot to spend the night on our roadtrip.

2 - Tent Site on Fern Trail
We came to this beautiful spot for 2 nights. We had time to get our site all set up, inflate paddle boards, swim on the lake and come back to our site before we were told the Sunset Fire was too close and we needed to evacuate! The lake was great, site was nice and clean and we would come back again in the future! Nathaniel was great about the situation and gave us a refund! Totally unexpected and greatly appreciated.
