>>> Voted #1 Campground in Idaho 2022, 2024 & 2025 (Hipcamp Awards) <<< Like a postcard photograph, Bigfoot Campout sits perched over Mirror Lake on one end of a mountain bowl. Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site. Most private: Sites A, B, 1, 2 and 3, or Sites C/D or E/F, when booked in pairs. (Do not book C/D or E/F for complete privacy unless you book them in pairs.) Most shade: Sites A, E and F. Sunniest: Sites B, C and D. Electric access: Sites B, C and D. (C/D share a power pedestal.) Nearest to a Port-a-Potty: Sites A, D and E. Nearest to lake: Site A. Best for large parties: Book Sites C/D together for larger RV camping parties, or book Sites E/F together for moderate-sized tent camping parties.

C - RV, Trailer, Auto (w/ Electric)

100%
(133)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 34 ft
Campsite C occupies the east side of a shared loop and can accommodate an RV, Trailer, Truck, Campervan or up to 2 smaller vehicles. (No tent pads.) This site is larger and has gorgeous lake views. This is an excellent site for moderate-sized camping parties. Campsite C has a picnic table, fire pit, and a shared 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. (Campsite D occupies the center & west side of the loop, and also has access to this electric box.) IMPORTANT: Site C occupies one side of a shared loop, so you may or may not have another camping party relatively close in Site D. If you'd like to ensure complete privacy and/or exclusive use of the electric box -- or if you'd like to host a larger camping party -- then you should book BOTH Site D and Site C together. This would give you the entire loop to yourself. Please only considering booking Site C by itself if you are committed to being respectful to a neighboring camping party in the center or on the other side of the loop. . Access: This is a pull-in/back-out side if Campsite D is occupied. Otherwise it's a pull-through using the loop. Please note that RV's should plan on a multi-point turn at least once to make it around the loop. Parking: Park as close to the "C" sign as possible in order to create maximum distance between camping parties in C and D. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout. F - Auto or Tent (Wooded Site)

(117)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 8 · Vehicles under 20 ft
Campsite F is shaded and secluded with partial lake views. This campsite has a picnic table, fire pit, and a built-in sand tent pad. This site is ideal for smaller parties of 4-6. Booking this campsite in combination with adjacent Campsite F is ideal for larger camping parties of 8+ or if you'd just like to ensure complete privacy (no neighboring campers) for your trip. Note: picnic table not shown in all photos but is in the site. Parking: 1 small or medium-sized vehicle can park comfortably in this site. A vehicle with a trailer can also fit but, depending if you back-in or pull-in, either the vehicle or the trailer will be outside of the actual site on the gravel driveway. 2 vehicles can also be parked in the same way -- one in the site and one just outside of the site on the driveway. This is not an RV site. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout. B - RV, Trailer, Auto (w/ Electric)

100%
(75)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 34 ft
Campsite B is a pull-over, RV/Trailer/Truck/Campervan/Auto site (i.e. no tent pads) which is more secluded in the woods. This site is definitely the easiest to access for larger RVs, as it is pull-thru. While this site is very private, there are no direct lake views from the site. You must walk about 50 yards for lake views. This is easily our sunniest site and has a picnic table, fire pit and a 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. Parking: Pull to the right as far as possible so as not to impede passer-by vehicles at the campground exit. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout. Campsite D occupies the center and west side of a shared loop and can accommodate an RV, Trailer, Truck, Campervan or up to 2 smaller vehicles. A large tent pad exists in the center of the loop, along with a picnic table and fire pit. Campsite D also has access to a shared 50-30-20 RV electric panel box. (Campsite C on the east side of the loop also has access to this electric box.). Please bring an extension cord if you have one, as the electric box is about 50 feet from the parking area. We also provide extension cords in our Amenities Shed for a small fee. This site is larger, has gorgeous lake views, and an excellent site for moderate-sized camping parties. IMPORTANT: Site D occupies the center and one side of a shared loop, so you may or may not have another camping party relatively close (on the other side of the loop) in Site C. Entire Property

RV/tent site · Sleeps 52 · Vehicles under 34 ft
Please note that this site books out the entire property! You will have access to all of the sites during your stay. *** Voted BEST Hipcamp in Idaho 2022 - 2024 *** FAQ Are day campers included in the total guest count, or does it only apply to overnight guests? All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation. Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity. Like a postcard photograph, our Hipcamp is perched up about 50 feet over Mirror Lake, sitting in a mountain bowl on one end of the lake. Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) & Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. Fishing off of the campground dock is also a possibility but beware that lily pads are prevalent. Please obey all of the camp rules which are listed on the laminated brochure at the campground entrance. The most important campground rule is leaving the campground just as you found it. This means packing out all trash to prevent wildlife from visiting our campground! A bit of history... In 2021, the campsites were graveled and graded, each with their own picnic table and fire pit. A mulch tent pad was added to Campsites C & D. An on-site portable toilet was also installed at this time. In 2022, 50-30-20-Amp electric pedestals for camper and RV use were installed in campsites B and C/D. (Electric fee may apply -- please ask Host.) Also, a sand tent pad was installed in campsite F. In 2023 a brand-new 70' elevated nature-walk & dock were installed on the lakefront. In campsite E, a mulch tent pad was installed. Also, an interactive "Enchanted Forest" was added to the campground, which lights up a night to reveal all of the woodland creatures that live there! (Kids love this!) In 2024, a small lakefront cabin was added down by the dock at Campsite A. An "Amenities Shed" full of several camping games like horseshoes, bocce, and corn hole was also added by the Port-A-Potty. In 2025, a well & pump will be installed, allowing campers to fill up with potable water within steps of each campsite. Also, a new grass beach will be created by the dock, which will be great for picnicking. As the host for this campground, I do not live on-site. You may reach me anytime before, during, or after your stay via phone, text or Hipcamp messenger. I almost always respond within a few minutes. Detailed directions, and camp information will be sent to every booked guest 48 hours prior to their arrival. Property located 48°10'11.0"N, 116°30'02.1"W

A - Lakefront Tent + Tiny Cabin

98%
(60)
Cabin · Sleeps 8 · 2 beds · 1 toilet
Site A has a small 2-bed 8'x8' cabin and an outdoor grass tent pad, with expansive views of Mirror Lake as it is located down by the shoreline, near the fishing dock. It is ideal for 2 campers (if using the cabin only) to 6 campers (cabin and tent). It also has a picnic table, fire pit and Port-a-Potty. Dry camping. No dedicated electric, however a solar panel does provide some intermittent power on sunny days -- enough to charge phones or light up the cabin at night. (Note: if the angle of the sun is not hitting the panels enough to charge the battery, feel free to detach both the panel and battery from their connecting power cable. Once disconnected, both can be moved to a sunnier spot to gain maximum sun exposure, then reconnected. This will charge up the battery much faster. The best spot for charging is on the grass down by the dock hammock.) Access: 1 vehicle maximum for this site. This site is ideal for cars, trucks and campervans. RV's and trailers must be under 24 feet long for this site. This site is pull-in/back-out for small RV's, however cars, vans and trucks can turn around to exit with a 5-point turn. Parking: If you have car, truck or van, please park in the gravel lot across the road from the cabin. Use caution when pulling in and out of the lot, as the clearance is a bit tight. If you have a longer vehicle (RV, trailer, etc), then you'll need to park along the shoulder near the cabin. Please note that the road that this campsite is located upon also acts as a driveway, therefore please do not impede passer-by vehicles when parking. If you must use the shoulder, move the "no parking" stanchions and pull over as far as possible. Please replace the "no parking" stanchions along the shoulder upon check-out. See campground map in the photos for site location. *** To keep bears away, this is a "pack-it-out" campground, meaning all trash must be transported off property upon checkout.
