There are no small town main streets or stores, fancy restaurants or coffee stands, not even any museums or other touristy attractions..... what you will find is a remote, peaceful, serene, and private setting with a great history and relatively easy access to any of those things; all less than 30 minutes away. You'll also be in close proximity to Glacier National Park, Whitefish and Flathead Lakes (plus countless other lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams), as well as all of the other wonders the Flathead Valley and Northwest Montana offers.
Our property offers two Full RV sites and two tiny cabin rentals. The RV's can be reserved here on Hipcamp and the cabins are available on VRBO #2432106 or #2432361 for reservations. For more information and pictures. The RV sites have water, sewer, and electric hook-up(s) 15ft or less from your unit so please make sure your connections are long enough. There is no cellular service or coverage but we have very good Internet access and WiFi calling is available with most smart phones.
Enjoy your time watching deer graze, fish jumping in the pond, or star gazing unlike you’ll ever see...or just relax with a good book. Our property has many options nearby or about an hour away including Flathead and Whitefish Lakes, Glacier National Park, and a myriad of other lakes or hiking trails. On 2 acres within walking distance of downtown Kalispell and a short drive to Glacier National Park, we offer comfortable tipis that can sleep from 2-4 people.
The tipis are equipped with a queen-sized air mattress and bedding, a power box and lighting and a table and chair. You have access to picnic tables, a fire pit and a good selection of yard games like croquet and corn-hole to name a few.
The acreage is surrounded on three sides by Ashley Creek and boasts a unique covered bridge and awe-inspiring grandmother Willow trees.
Beautiful downtown Kalispell is an easy 10-minute walk. There you'll find local breweries with live music, a local ice cream shop, a variety of restaurants and shops.
Parking is not right next to the tipis, but we have a wagon to help get your things from your vehicle to your tipi.
Under the bridge is where you'll find our games, including croquet, badminton, Frisbee and Frisbee games, Bocce ball and Wiffle golf balls and clubs. We also have extra bedding and air mattresses in a secure chest.
Remember that you'll be camping in a field. We've done our level best to keep the tipis clean and clear of pests, but it is a natural environment, so there is a non-zero chance that you'll run across some dirt, grass, thistles, or a multi-legged friend. You might even get an unwanted gift from a bird. If any of that needs to be gone, you can access a broom and leaf blower on the bridge, or you can find one of us on the property and we'll take care of it for you. Thank you for your understanding!

These are newly developed sites (2021) nested on the back of our property about 200ft from our house on a dead-end road. We have rural neighborhood vibe, with a 2 mile scenic paved walking path nearby. We have newly planted trees and shrubs, so not much afternoon shade. With the open areas sunrises and sunsets are fantastic!
Both back in sites are 40’ in length with extra vehicle parking available. Please confirm your measurements before booking. There is enough room to easily pull in and then back into your spot. Ideal for Class-A motor-homes, fifth wheels, tent trailers, travel trailers, pick-up campers and self-contained van campers. Additionally, 1 tent is allowed at each site. Because there are no bathrooms we are unable to accept TENT ONLY camping at this time.
Both campsites have full hookups including artisan well water, septic, with 50 amp electric on site #2 and 30 & 50 amp electric on site #3. Garbage receptacle is located by the east side of the greenhouse.
Plenty to see and do in the Flathead Valley. Lots of wonderful local restaurants, pubs, breweries and wineries. Tons of trails to hike, rivers to raft, lakes to boat and parks to stroll. We have a list of our favorites, don’t hesitate to ask!

Excellent location! This is far enough away from the hustle of everyday life, yet close enough to Kalispell or Whitefish for anything you may need. Super quiet in a farm setting, everything is in perfect condition, level, with lots of room to set up your RV.
If you’re a stargazer, this is a must stop. Super low light noise to contend with, excellent pictures.

My stay at hot springs campground was mighty fine. Joel gave good directions and was welcoming. Loved the kitchen/bath house and the hot shower was fabulous! The neighborhood peacocks were chatty so now I know what they sound like😆
I felt relaxed while there and the next day headed into town for a hot spring soak, laundry snd fundraising supper for the historical society! Check it out!

This was our 2nd stay at The Back of the Moon. First time we stayed at the Wolf Moon site and this time at Buck Moon. Wolf Moon is a little bigger with a picnic table for hanging out and eating outdoors. Buck Moon is a little smaller but still plenty of space. It is a peaceful spot and sits up on the hill with a filtered view of the pond at the nearby resort. Carolyn is an outstanding host, very helpful and gracious. Highly recommend!

Our little family (2adults, 2 young kids, 2 labradors) absolutely loved Carolyn’s spot, such a great find! We towed our camper up to Wolf Moon and stayed for the Whitefish Trailblazer races in the fall. The property was beautiful and secluded. Tucked into the woods behind the Haymoon resort. The property was easy to find via google maps, and Carolyn was super responsive (even well before we booked!). The site has a 30/20 amp hookup and water available, just brought our hose to hook up & close to a free RV dump in town at the Cenex. Honestly the perfect little weekend, even with the colder weather & rain. Would 100% recommend this spot & Carolyn as a host, she was wonderful!

We booked this Hipcamp as a stopping point along a 10-day, multi-state RV trip and we are SO glad we did. We stayed 2 nights and wish we would’ve stayed a 3rd. It was so peaceful and serene. It was truly the definition of a relaxing experience. The views from our panoramic window were gorgeous, especially at sunrise, and the nighttime sky was insane. We would love to make the trek back someday to enjoy this beautiful oasis again.

This was a great stay at wolf moon. Site was easy to find and pull into. Carolyn was easy going and helpful with all that we needed but was not overbearing and respected our privacy. The proximity to the road made it easy to get in and out of for a quick one night stay. The area was clean and quiet.
