Welcome to The SpiritWorks Hermitage Sanctury: An Artisan's Retreat in Whitefish, Montana Experience a unique artist's glamping lifestyle with strong nature immersion and community connection if desired. Immerse yourself in the intimate, artistic world created by Bryan Storey Matteson at Lion Camp. Nestled on an organic herb farm just outside the charming town of Whitefish, this unique camper offers a tranquil retreat surrounded by natural beauty and the exquisite woodcarvings of a master artisan. A newly completed bath house with bathroom, shower and laundry rooms is ready for your use. The camper has electricity, wifi, TV, water and is a short walk to the new bathhouse. Our land is a healing sanctuary. We do not allow outside guests without prior permission. No drinking, smoking of any kind, or loud parties.

Spiritworks features five secluded tented (9x9 tents) campsites and a Lean-To in the forest just off U.S. 93 and minutes from Whitefish, Montana, a world-class four-season adventure destination. Forest-shaded trails lead from the parking lot a short way to the tent sites, which boast secluded views, solitude, and soft mulched tent pads. The Lean-To is located at the end of a mostly level path. Campers bring own sleeping pads and bedding. All sites have access to a communal hangout area for cooking and relaxing. A bathhouse with 1/2 bath, shower room, and laundry is nearby. Potable well water also centrally located. Spiritworks features a permaculture herb farm and spiritual/healing retreat center sanctuary; campers can purchase farm-fresh produce in season -- e.g. raspberries, strawberries, onions, garlic, squash, kale, and heirloom tomatoes as well as just-laid eggs, and herbs. We also offer massage (additional fees, pre-scheduling required). To ensure solitude and healing, we ask that campers observe quiet hours, refrain from smoking, and do not bring pets. Currently, the camper has electricity, heat, inside and outside cooking options, water and a honey bucket and access to a shared outside shower. Guests have access to on-site walking trails, may schedule a complimentary farm tour, and are asked to respect the private areas of the home owner, farm, other residents, and retreat center. Our land is a healing sanctuary. We do not allow outside guests without prior permission. No drinking, smoking of any kind, or loud parties.

My wife and I recently stayed at the SpiritWorks Herb Farm Campground - this was our first Hipcamp experience and what an experience it was! Lindy was an amazing host and took us on an incredible educational and inspiring tour of the property. Our tent site was nice and quiet. The communal spaces were top notch. Highly recommend this place as a quiet, relaxing and super interesting place to stay!

This is a lovely place to camp, and Lindy is wonderful and welcoming. It’s close to whitefish and Kalispell, and all there is to do in the area. It was great to have a little kitchen and shower.

Since I have a tent on top of my car instead of a tent I can set-up in the woods, this site definitely wasn't ideal for me. I wound up camping in the parking lot, which wasn't as quiet or peaceful as the forested tent sites might have been... The outside shower was nice.

My girlfriend and I had a brief but comfortable stay at SpiritWorks. Lindy was very responsive when communicating with us about our arrival, and informative regarding amenities when we arrived. The grounds were easy to find (thanks to Lindy's instructions) and were very cute and well-maintained. We enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the entire herb farm where we watched the pretty Montana sunset. The farm was close to Whitefish and we had no problem getting back and forth. Would definitely stay again, hopefully for a longer stay next time. Thanks Lindy for the lavender bag and the warm welcome to the area!

We loved our stay at SpiritWorks. Lindy and Arthur were great hosts and the farm was such a peaceful setting. You're probably headed to Whitefish to explore Glacier and the beautiful Flathead Valley, but be sure to find some time to spend at SpiritWorks as well!

If you want to explore Glacier National Park, as well as Whitefish Mountain, but don't want the crowds, this Herb Farm + Camp Site is amazing. Because it's also a working farm and retreat center, it includes amenities you wouldn't have at an RV campsite, while still feeling remote. Each camp set-up includes a place for a tent or hammock in a small glen or clearing. There is not a place for a personal campfire, but there is a great communal hangout spot with a central campfire as well as an electric stove and fridge! This was actually better for us, because of the current Fire Ban on all of the mountain, surrounding areas, and parks. We cooked our meals on the stove... Something to keep in mind if you think you'll be traveling during a fire ban! There is also a hot-water shower, and after a day of hiking - it felt amazing. When there's not a fire ban - the herb farm also boasts a wood-heated sauna and hot tub! (Bring your own towels, or use the Herb Farms for $10.) I can only imagine this is amazing to watch the stars come out over the trees. Not only is the space well kept, and the electricity in the communal area a bonus, but the host Lindy was super great. We had a great time at Spiritwork camp site. The site was very private and idyllic. The one downside is that there was freeway noise from Highway 93. We loved the amenities like the outdoor shower and fully equipped cooking area. Lindy was a wonderful host and gave great local recommendations. The location was perfect for exploring Glacier NP (only 30 away) and the Whitefish/Kalispell area.

We had the most amazing time at SpiritWorks- it's one of the most unique and interesting Hipcamp's i've ever been to. Where do I begin? There's a ton of really great tent sites, most of them are very secluded and more or less all right down the hill from parking (so you're not camping among the cars, but you also have great access to your vehicle). The property has tons of awesome amenities, shower, hot tub, sauna, great cooking area, fire pit, and toilets. The farm itself is beautiful- there are hundreds of gorgeous flowers and herbs, and a whole gang of chickens. Only warning to note is the noise that comes with early morning roosters- made it hard to sleep in but was a welcoming reminder to get up and enjoy Montana.

After a day exploring Glacier National Park, this cute little farm had all the essentials we needed for a night of camping. Upon waking up, two deer greeted us from the meadow next to our campsite. There was a little bit of a walk down a hill from the parking area to the campsites and the sites weren't incredibly private, but we rarely saw any of the other campers. so it was not issue. There were some other thoughtful amenities, like an outdoor shower and a campfire hangout, but we didn't stick around long enough to utilize them.

My husband and I LOVED Lindy's farm. We spent a few days of our honeymoon camping there, and felt right at home. Lindy was lovely, as was her son, her dog, and the current farmers staying with her. We met so many people and loved the family feel. The great thing about Spirit Works is you have a very private wooded tent site, but then a community feel up at the main farm and kitchen/ campfire. We loved helping Lindy gather eggs from her chickens and getting some herbs and plants to take home. Thank you, Lindy! We will be back! McKenna & Spencer

Lindy was an incredible host and SpiritWorks farm is as organized as it is beautiful. There are plenty of opportunities to learn more about the farm and even participate in its daily operation if you have the time and willingness to experience the rhythms of this tidy and unique little getaway. The location is close to both Whitefish and Kalispell, so it is easy to explore both charming towns. Of course, the west entrance of the magnificent Glacier National Park is just a quick jaunt through a few quaint small towns, so this spot is an excellent jumping off point. I would most definitely return and spend a few days more here to get an even more in-depth experience. It is a one of a kind place and I enjoyed my time here immensely.

What a lovely place to camp! Lindy was so kind and hospitable and the campsites are well set up and spaced out. It was such a peaceful place to pitch a tent and the common areas were very inviting. Lindy has created a wonderful sanctuary that embodies what you look for in a Montana campground. Also it is located just a short drive from Glacier National Park which was such a plus! Overall a great and relaxing time at Spirit Works.

Lindy was an awesome host. She provided a great campsite with many features, and we really enjoyed how genuine she was with our group. The hangout, sauna, shower and just about everything this property has is amazing. Take advantage! The only negative aspect of our stay was the construction on the neighbor's house that started early, around 5:30 or 6. It woke us up, but it was easy to fall back asleep after! Would recommend to anyone looking to travel to glacier national park, it was only about a 30-minute drive to the entrance. We definitely want to come back soon, and we have a new friend because of our great host!

I absolutely loved this campsite and it surpassed every one of my expectations. Lindy the camp host is an amazing person and a wonderful host. The atmosphere was very peaceful and inviting and the sites were all wonderful and unique in their own way. I highly recommend this site to anyone looking to camp near the spectacular glacier national park.

This campsite was great! It was very private and peaceful. There are common areas for campers to gather, but the tent sites are spaced out, with lots of different pathways to minimize foot traffic so that you can relax and quietly enjoy your time in nature.

WOW - this place is amazing :) Lindy is a wonderful host and she is creating something truly magical at SpiritWorks. It's super close to whitefish, but it is an oasis unto itself. Don't just do an in-out, stick around for a couple nights and enjoy! There's a garden overlook meditation platform, a woodburning tub, a sauna, massive herb garden, retreat center, and on and on the list goes ... enjoy! p.s. do the full farm tour!
