You’ll have access to a composting pit toilet, and can access potable water from the tap in the lodge. That’s also where you can access hot showers. As noted above, we host Appalachian Trail thru hikers on the property, so you may see them hanging around or sleeping in the bunkhouse near the shared facilities. so please be respectful of hours when you come in for a shower. No showers after 10 pm For meals, we have picnic tables, and you are encouraged to cook over the fire pits that accompany each site. Please practice Leave No Trace practices during your stay, as the property has raccoons and other critters who will be drawn to any food scraps that are left behind. Pets are allowed! Down by the River!!!

Beautiful spot on the Shenandoah River....you will see eagles, deer, ospreys, beaver and numerous other critters. Great fishing, boating and swimming not to mention the views. Lots of local cuisine and pubs. Flea markets and BBQ on the roadside and for those who dare the casino and horse racing!!!... Each site has a picnic table, firepit and pavilion canopies for creature comfort. We do have firewood available along with boat rentals. All boat rentals and firewood are cash only. Please limit glass containers. We no longer allow outside firewood coming in as we have had guests bring pressure treated wood and all sorts of junk wood and the next guests are trying to cook over nasty residues on the sides of the firepits. The tent is cozy and quiet complete with an outdoor shower, latrine, tiny kitchen, and big back porch to watch to the sunset. The tent includes a small kitchen with a cooktop and small refrigerated cooler for keeping perishables. Only the basics are here like a sink, glasses, cutlery and pots and pans so if you'd like to get fancy we recommend bringing a few things along. The shower gets quite hot so don't worry if the forecast is chilly you'll still have a warm place to rinse off.

Nestled among the cherry trees and gray stone is a secluded spot that pays homage to FDR.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt presided over a tumultuous time in the nation's history. He brought America out of the Great Depression. Then he directed the U.S. involvement in World War II. He did all of this while battling polio and using a wheelchair on a regular basis.

Much like FDR, who focused on the country and not on himself, this sprawling memorial does the same thing. See bronze statues of the president, his first lady, and their beloved dog, Fala. Scenes on granite walls depict his Fireside Chats, long lines of people waiting for bread, and 21 quotes.

Waterfalls cascade over stone monuments as a counterpoint to the Tidal Basin's calm demeanor. In April, cherry blossoms form a gentle landscape of pink blooms that brighten the gray stone. A walk among the FDR memorial attempts to showcase the trials and tribulations that FDR faced as president.

Fittingly, this memorial was the first on the National Mall to be made wheelchair accessible. This tribute to FDR sits in between the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial.
