We are located in Comus, MD, at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in the heart of the Agricultural Reserve. Beneath the pavilion: There is one large wood burning grill suitable for cooking food, one belly stove for ambience/heat and 3 fire rings to build your own fire. Firewood is provided upon request. There are no designated parking spots for now. Feel free to park wherever suits. Potable water is in the barn along with a flush toilet. One 30A outlet is located on the side of the barn inside the paddock next to the horse washing station. THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! "They love peppermints, carrots and apples." Who knows, you might get to meet a future Kentucky Derby winner. Nearby attractions include: BLACK HILLS REGIONAL PARK (15 minutes) for boating, hiking or biking Vineyard 61 (5 minutes) Stone Silo Brewery (5 Minutes) Leechwood Haunted Forest (5 Minutes) October weekends only There are also chickens and peacocks that are very anxious to receive your love and affection with any type of treat such as raisins. Kids can even go in the chicken coop and pick out their very own egg they can cook for their breakfast. For the energetic campers and kids there are also lots of trails that you can walk or hike on and there is a small stream the kids can play in. There also is a playground with swings, monkey bars, seesaw and trampoline. There is a dumpster in front of the barn for you to place your trash. Our property is in Howard County, Maryland, and is super convenient to I-95, I-295, Hwy 32, and I-70. It is centrally located between Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and Frederick, MD. We are located right off of Highway 32 down a long, private paved driveway. What makes our property unique is all that it has to offer--it's an 18 acre oasis with mature woods protected by a conservation deed, lightly rolling hills, beautiful fields, wetlands, and a pond. It is not surprising to see deer and our local great blue heron on the property throughout the day. There is also a fire pit, which you are free to use. Firewood is free, though it may get wet when it rains.

From the flat land at the bottom to the top of the mountain, this is a place where you can find a spot to sit and think, draw, paint, nap, or identify over 30 medicinal plants in their natural habitats (absolutely NO harvesting of medicinals or wildflowers!). Listen to the many birds, spot the wildflowers. Some areas are accessible by wheelchair, while others are not, but all areas offer something to sustain your spirit. If you feel the need to explore the area, you are within walking distance of NotaViva Farm Brewery and Winery, 15 dirt road minutes from the new Sweet Run State Park one direction and Breaux Vineyard in the other direction. The Appalachian Trail is just over the top of the mountain and Harpers Ferry National Park is down the road and over the Shenandoah River. We might be a teeny bit biased, but we think this is area of northwest Loudoun County, VA is one of the loveliest places in the world.

No presents for me or other campers, thank you. 45-acre Historic farm, several sites to choose from depending on adventure wanderlust (including a 4WD drive site). Located on private gravel lane, approximately 1/2 mile off county road. Either corn or soybeans with a woods backdrop. Secluded and private, yet 25 minutes to downtown Annapolis, 10 minutes to the Bay, great for cycling, paddleboarding, kayaking all 10/15 minutes from farm. DC 45 minutes, Baltimore 1 hour. Jug Bay wetlands, wineries, fun little waterfront towns and Bay front restaurants all within easy reach. Check out individual sites for description, each has its own personality. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. First listing actually has several options. For large campers/coach/fifth wheelers the area by the tractor shed will be the best. Around the corner there's two other choices both with firepits which will accommodate units up to 40 feet depending on your backing/maneuvering skills. Field of Dreams and Sycamore Ridge will accommodate campers under 25 feet with some backing/maneuvering skills. For those with 4WD and an off-road camper/trailer/tent choose Off the Grid, two entrances for easy access, travel along a logging road to an open site with fire pit. Suitable during dry conditions and not responsible for damage to vehicle or camper. Great spot for those who truly want to be in the woods off the beaten path, site takes about 5 minutes to reach due to low-speed access.

There are three campsites on the farm, one by the pond and two by the river. Very secluded and all sites include , firepit, log bench, and a picnic table that seats 3-4 people. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE OUT FOR THE SEASON. The original river campsite has been moved to a more remote spot so that all campers can access the pond and pier to the river. Farm encompasses nearly 300 acres on the Patuxent River. There is access to the river on high tide via our private creek (must bring your own canoe or kayak) and 150 acres of marshland. Over 100 acres of woods to walk through and a pond for wildlife watching. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

I was happy with our campsite, although it was a little close to site 4. Everyone was friendly and nice, and followed quiet hours. The toilets were fine, the portable water access was up at the main lodge near the firewood - not at the campground. The area Bluemont area is great for hiking. I will definitely be coming back!

Denise was most accomadating with my last minute request and my challenges in correctly reserving the right date. She was there in person to show me the options of where to pitch my tent and drove to the site with me. She explained her different color coded hiking/horse trails. Previous reviews are accurate in describing both Denise's pleasant hospitality as well as her gorgeous property. Her place is so convenient to both I95 and area business that it's hard to comprehend how such a large and wonderful HipCamp could exist. As long as you bring ear plugs for the busy traffic over the hill, this is a 5 star primitive HipCamp.

Alex has cleared a nice walking trail into the deep woods that is really scenic. I camped at the top of the hill since I think it would take a 4 wheel dive to get back up from the bottom. I would recommend ear plugs because of the neighbor's competitive crowing 🐓 roosters! I just turned a podcast on and went right back to sleep. Verizon cellular was acceptable with one to two bars. This is a real find for NOVA! Thanks again, Alex, for a second stay.

1 night at HUNTER'S PARK BY WASHINGTON, DC

This is not my first Hipcamp and I have to say this one is absolutely top tier! Where to start? We stayed at "primative" site T7 and I put primative in quotes because it had a freshly cleaned porta potty, a sink with running water, and camping lights overhead which gave us access to a 110 outlet if needed. The site was right on the creek in a heavily wooded area so shade was great and the kids played in the water all day. Then we enjoyed going to look at the horses and the chickens. And the host was gracious and inviting and the staff onsite at the stables were also incredibly kind to the kids as well. There is plenty of wood for sale, the wifi is a luxury and they even had bottles of water and ice pops for sale for the kids. This place is just one big easy button as far as camping goes. I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful campsite at the top of a hill with a feel of seclusion. The site is surrounded by mature trees and at a distance from other homes, facing a large open grassy, sloping field. Easy access to the highways leading to the cities and towns around Baltimore. The neighborhood area is also very nice. Scott, our host, was very responsive to our questions and very welcoming. It's a hidden gem for boon docker campers. Highly recommend.

Had a wonderfully peaceful weekend of camping at the farm! The pond site is private, but gives you a view of the entire farm. The animals were beautiful (and not that I would’ve minded, but literally no animal smells whatsoever! It’s a very well-maintained and clean farm!). Potty was nearby and clean. Great location for so many MD and WV towns. Easy to find, great directions. I would not hesitate to camp here again! Saw 8 bald eagles at once right over the pond, 2 beautiful geese were taking a bath in the pond Saturday morning when I woke up. A woodpecker was doing his thing nearby. So awesome all around!

Great spot just outside of Harper's Ferry! Matt was awesome and very accommodating (he definitely helped me with a few things I forgot to bring). Fun little cabin with windows showing off all the scenery. He even has coffee in there which is always important. I would absolutely stay here again!

Overview

About

This park will reorient your thinking about what a national park is. From late spring to early fall, it's one of the top venues for music and dance performances in the country. You'll find everything from opera to country and pop concerts.

Opt for seats on the lawn if you want to have a picnic, knowing that the acoustics here are superb no matter where you're seated. Be aware that you can only use lawn chairs on part of the lawn due to its steepness—you can rent lawn chairs if you forgot a blanket. Expect to see people getting up to dance during rock concerts.

If you want to buy an actual seat, don't be surprised to find that balcony seats are comfier than higher-priced orchestra spots. Some people find the indoor seats very hot (no fans, no AC, to keep the acoustics pure).

Parking is free and beautifully handled, so you won't spend as much time trying to leave as you spent at the concert. As you drive out, you can head straight to a convenient campsite on a farm, in a meadow, by a river, or even in a suburban backyard. Hipcamp helps you find just the right spot near your destination.
